Good handling at dry. Not bad at wet and snow. Good feedback, steering response. Good price.

Driving on a combination of roads for 3000 average miles
These were new on the front of my Ford focus which I bought second hand in January. 16k on tje clock and rear tires still had factory original michelin pilot 4s on . These tires have to be the worst I have ever driven on in over 30 years of motoring. Horrible feedback and the grip is borderline dangerous. Ended up buying 4 goodyear asymmetric 6 tires and the car is like a different car. Full confidence going into a roundabout and don't have to judge if your goi g to slide or take someone out . These tires should be avoided at all costs. Spend more and stay safe.

Writing about the Continental EcoContact 6 given 53% (215-50-17-)
Driving on mostly town for 6000 average miles
I wish I had found this site sooner. These Continental EcoContact 6’s were the factory-fitted tire on my car and with all of the recent torrential wet weather I’ve noticed that they are somewhat unstable on wet road surfaces and really knock your confidence driving on them.
You can find the limit of wet grip quite quickly such as sliding when joining a motorway sliproad from a roundabout or even getting unwanted wheelspin on mini-roundabouts.
It feels as if the front tires are struggling to bite into the surface, I think the EU tire lane A-rating for wet grip is a bit of a gimmick especially for what is probably a very hard, low rolling resistant compound.
The tread depth is at mid wear point of 4-5mm, but the lack of wet grip has been persistent from the start and I can only imagine it’ll get worse.
I would not recommend these tires for a LWB estate/SW car, I would probably opt for an Avon ZV7 or Hankook ventus prime 3 as a replacement as both perform very well in the wet from previous experience.

Writing about the Michelin X Ice North 4 given 89% (215-55-17-)
Driving on mostly town for 0 average miles
The best I have tried in winter conditions. Fantastic grip on ice and snow, comfortable ride and the studs seem to last much longer than on others I have owned. Going into the 5th winter of mostly urban driving in Reykjavik I can see that most of the studs have come loose now so they will be disappearing soon. I used to run Goodyear ultra grip ice arctic on my cars before, but the ride was rougher and noisier, the studs would be long gone by now and they did not have as much grip on snow and ice. The Goodyears had a better grip in the wet at high speeds though.

Writing about the Sumitomo HTR Z5 given 95% (235-40-18-)
Driving on a combination of roads for 2000 average miles
Not had them on more than 2 months but have just done a 790 miles drive in one day across Europe speeds upto 125mph. . And can say from an average person’s perspective they are a brilliant tire. They are quiet compared to some of the other brands iv had in the past I’d put them with something like continentals or Dunlop. Would definitely recommend and buy again. Road noise is a big part of my problem with 235/40/18s more so after 13 hrs of motorway driving. And can say these tiers are worth every penny.

Tires at 4 years old and 17k miles vehicle failed annual test due to cracks/perishing of the tires. Plenty of tread left.

Writing about the Durun A One given 59% (215-55-16-)
Driving on a combination of roads for 7000 average miles
Ford Focus 2011 Diesel 1.5L (~270nm torque). Set of 4 fresh Durun L919's on purchase in 2019. I had done only 3000 miles by 2022 (Covid Lockdowns) and all 4 had developed dangerous ring cracks on them almost failing the MOT - very hard poor quality rubber. Aside from that marked flaw, they gripped really well in both wet and dry and handling was good when I threw the little car into corners, but it is a light car. Road feedback, because the rubber was quite hard, was high, as was the noise. Felt every little bump in the road to the point it was uncomfortable and feared for my suspension. Replaced all today with Sumitomo tires and now I can't feel anything on the road!
