Toyo Proxes Comfort

The Toyo Proxes Comfort is a premium touring summer tire that focuses on easy, refined everyday driving rather than outright sportiness. It earns strong praise for its quiet, comfortable ride and secure, predictable feel, with many drivers reporting confidence in both dry and wet conditions. Professional testing also highlights particularly strong dry handling, with generally competitive braking and good overall value.

Methodology & Configuration
Scoring Process
  1. Collect Test Data: Gather results from professional tire tests across multiple publications. Minimum 1 test(s) required.
  2. Normalize Positions: Convert test positions to percentile scores using exponential weighting (factor: 1.2).
  3. Apply Recency Weighting: More recent tests are weighted higher with a decay rate of 0.95.
  4. Incorporate User Reviews: Factor in user review data (minimum 5 reviews). Weight: 15%.
  5. Bayesian Smoothing: Apply Bayesian prior (score: 7, weight: 1.5) to prevent extreme scores with limited data.
  6. Calculate Final Score: Combine all components using normalization factor of 1.1. Max score with limited data: 9.5.

The Toyo Proxes Comfort offered solid aquaplaning reserves, short braking distances, and good value at €304 per set. It performed respectably in wet conditions despite slightly limited lateral grip on wet surfaces. With a decent mileage of over 38,000 kilometers and good rolling resistance, it achieved excellent cost performance at just €7.98 per 1000 kilometers. The tire was also one of the quieter options in the test, living up to its "Comfort" name. Its good all-round performance without any major weaknesses earned it a "good" rating.

Great tires for the price point. I use them for taxi driving they lasted 26k which is very good.

I'm using the 225/45 R17 94W to my 2012 C4 eHDI Hatch 6spd and they are great and better than the Michelin that were fitted oem bt Citroen or the or my previous Kumho's. These tires are much more responsive in the dry, better wet grip. Very statesfied

Given 47% while driving a Skoda Octavia estate (205/55 R16) on a combination of roads for 2,000 miles
I bought a set of these so called comfort tires to replace my goodyear efficiency grip tires. I went for Toyo comfort, as the clue was in the name 'comfort', but they're not at all comfortable to drive on the road, feel every bump on the road, as you drive along. The Goodyears were far more comfortable.

Given 100% while driving a Honda Civic (205/55 R16) on a combination of roads for 12,000 average miles
After 10k miles these tires are still going strong.
I live in the north west UK and these tires are excellent, I personally find these tires are as good as most premium tires especially in the wet and dry.
These tires still after 10k miles handle exceptionally good in the wet and really do grip the road well in all areas.
The tread-wear (320 A A) is pretty decent on my FWD honda civic and doesn't lose grip after a 1/4 of tread-wear like some cheap Chinese made rubbish on the market.

Overall these tires are a 10/10 for the value and quality.

Given 85% while driving a Volkswagen Golf GT Tdi 110 (205/55 R16) on mostly country roads for 3,000 spirited miles
Replacement for Continentals - bought because of positive reviews and handling on British roads which tend to be wet or greasy majority of the year Also very good price vs performance. Too early to tell what they’re like in the dry really, but Cricky they are spot on in the dry, goes around roundabouts in the wet like it’s on rails, found myself over steering at first as not use to the grip compared to my last set of tires in the wet.

Very good summer tires for UK roads and conditions.
These tires handle very well in all condition (except snow and ice).
I bought a set of 4 fitted for £300 and I am satisfied with with the comfort, wearrate, noise and overall value for money

Given 100% while driving a Dacia Sandero Stepway II 0.9 2105 (205/55 R16) on mostly country roads for 600 average miles
I recently purchased four of these tires initially due to cost and a fairly decent brand name.
I have a well equipped workshop with my own tires changer and balancing machine.
I was very impressed by the tires having fitted thousands throughout my life .
All four tires required no more than either a single 15 gram weight or two 10 gram weights which is outstanding.
I immediately felt a better ride over the original tires. Top marks

Given 27% while driving a Toyota Avensis (195/60 R15) on a combination of roads for 0 spirited miles
I bought a set of Toyo Proxes Comfort to replace my very old, but still with quite a good tread on them Michelin Energy Saver.
Michelins were pretty good on wet and still fine on dry roads, had issues only when too hot and mainly when in roundabouts at high speed.
I am badly surprised by the new set of tires as these were tested as class A on wet, but their performance is absolutely horrible on wet roads.
Braking distance quite longer than with my 15 years old Michelin, skidding when cornering at speed, no grip when accelerating from still. Dry grip a bit better, but still car loses grip at cornering at higher speed. No idea about aquaplaning and wear, but current performance suggests this will be also an issue. Will surely not buy again, I have never put tires as bad as these, so far driven Fulda, Kumho, Nokian, Michelin.

Given 86% while driving a Honda Civic Diesel (205/55 R16) on mostly country roads for 20,000 average miles
Great tires for the price, good feedback, holds the road great in all weather conditions. Would not hesitate to use these tires again!

Given 67% while driving a Mazda Mazda2 (195/45 R16) on a combination of roads for 5,000 spirited miles
Very good for motorway driving and just gently around town, however they have limited feedback as soon as you push them, and ultimately produce a slight bit of understeer what feels like very early during a turn in both the wet and dry. For the price they're good enough, but I won't be buying these again.

Given 91% while driving a Citroën berlingo (195/65 R15) on a combination of roads for 4,000 average miles
Toyo proxies comfort tires offer really good wet and dry performance for a reasonable price. Predictable in the wet too, they don’t aquaplane. Unless in VERY heavy rain/standing water, which all tires would struggle in. Comfortable and quiet on the motorway Wear levels are excellent for the price bracket they are in.7 months and 3-4000 miles and still look like new

Given 84% while driving a Volkswagen 6R 1.2 TSI 90 cv MT (185/60 R15) on mostly town for 2,000 easy going miles
Moved from Nexen n'blue hd plus to this Toyo. So far so good. 90% of use in the city and one or two holiday and weekend trips, on motorways and national roads (10%). Just perfect for city speeds, very quiet, predictable and safe.

Given 70% while driving a SEAT Ibiza 1.0 TSI 115 (195/55 R16) on mostly motorways for 500 easy going miles
I chose the Toyo Proxes Comfort because they had great price and Wet rating A. I have two on the rear and on the front I have two Michelin Energy Saver +. I can't really tell the difference from before when I had four of the above mentioned Michelin. They seem too have decent dry grip and feel good on wet too. I drive quite carefully and rarely push to the limit, although I must say I've done a couple of roundabouts and turns in a speedy manner without losing grip on the rear. So far so good, will see on the long run. For now, it's buy again

Given 90% while driving a Renault Renault Megane IV estate (205/50 R17) on a combination of roads for 54,000 average miles
Very good tire, whit great grip level in dry roads and in the wet. Very good level of road feedback in fact it was better them my last tires the Michelin primacy 3 who are set in my car when brought new. The wear I can't comment because the tires are new, but it seems to be good as well. Confort is very good, this model is rated Confort and it was in fact. Very good tire at good price from premium brand, so I will buy again and I recommend this tire.

Very good tire in both and dry road whit great grip and very good road feedback. Reacts very well to steering wheel movement, even on fast movement(for exemple to avoid obstacle). Confort is also very good whit low noise on the road. The wear I think whould good to, but the tires are almost new now, so I will see in the future. I will buy again and whit good price I highly recomend this tire.
