Hankook Ventus Prime 4
WatchThe Hankook Ventus Prime 4 is a premium-touring summer tire that delivers a notably refined, confidence-inspiring drive for the money. Owners consistently rate it highly for quiet cruising, a smooth feel and strong dry grip, while independent tests back up its secure dry braking/handling and good efficiency. Wet-road performance is generally reassuring in normal conditions, but it becomes more dependent on tread depth and standing water depth than some key rivals.

Questions and Answers for the Hankook Ventus Prime 4
Ask a questionHi, does the Hankook Ventus Prime 4 in size 225/55 R17 have a Rim Fringe Protection? Thanks
I chose these tires just a second ago in 205/60/r16. But I am wondering: Is there difference in performance between the 2 variants in this size (92v vs 96H)? I found the ventus prime 3 which seems to have a difference in performance between those 2 types.
The tire size specification for my vehicle is 215/60 r16 95s. Would there be any adversity if I put 215/60 R16 99V XL hankook ventus prime 4s on it?

Review Summary
Based on 71 user reviews
Across 71 reviews, the Hankook Ventus Prime 4 is generally seen as a strong value-focused touring tire, most often praised for being quiet, smooth and confidence-inspiring with strong dry handling and good wet grip when new. Many drivers also highlight stable braking/handling and an overall “premium feel” for the price compared with more expensive rivals. The most repeated drawback is faster-than-expected wear, with several owners reporting that wet grip (and sometimes noise) deteriorates noticeably as tread depth drops; a smaller but recurring group also finds the ride a bit stiff/harsh on some cars.
Strengths
- Low road noise / quiet cruising (especially when new)
- Comfortable
- Smooth ride
- Strong dry grip and handling

Areas for Improvement
- Tends to wear faster than expected / shorter tread life
- Wet grip drops off as the tire wears (especially near end of life)

1- High safety with these tires. Despite having approximately three studs per tire, I didn't experience any vibration or sudden blowouts from any tire, even while driving at speeds exceeding 120 km/h.
2- The grip level remained almost constant over two years of use in desert city weather. The difference between the first day of use and the last was negligible, especially considering the high speeds I typically took on turns. This contrasts with other tire brands where the difference between old and new tires is significant.
3- Very low wear rate and long tire life. I reached 50,000 km with approximately half the tread remaining.
4- Excellent comfort.
5- Very quiet tire noise when new.
Disadvantages:
1- The biggest problem with this tire is its tendency to pick up nails from the road. Each tire has approximately three nail holes, a problem I haven't experienced with any other tire from any other company.
2- There's a significant difference in noise level between the new and old tires.
I’m now running Michelin Primacy 5 tires, which are quiet and excellent in every respect.
When new the grip in dry and wet were exellent. The only negative i had is that they were a bit noisy, especially on certain tarmac. After 2 seasons tread went down to 5mm, wet grip started to get worse and noise level increased even further. Now i have between 3-4 mm of tread left and in the wet grip is gone, dry grip is getting bad. Car is slipping a lot and is not safe to drive anymore. They are also now very noisy on the motorway. I was happy with them for the first two seasons, but a tire shouldn't lost grip at 5mm of tread. Never had this problem with pirelli and goodyear.
