Scoring Process
  1. Collect Test Data: Gather results from professional tire tests across multiple publications. Minimum 1 test(s) required.
  2. Normalize Positions: Convert test positions to percentile scores using exponential weighting (factor: 1.2).
  3. Apply Recency Weighting: More recent tests are weighted higher with a decay rate of 0.95.
  4. Incorporate User Reviews: Factor in user review data (minimum 5 reviews). Weight: 15%.
  5. Bayesian Smoothing: Apply Bayesian prior (score: 7, weight: 1.5) to prevent extreme scores with limited data.
  6. Calculate Final Score: Combine all components using normalization factor of 1.1. Max score with limited data: 9.5.

Given 76% while driving a Vauxhall Astra SRi (225/45 R17) on a combination of roads for 38,000 spirited miles
I have had a vauxhall Astra K since 2020 October. It came with general altimax one s 225 45 r17 94yxl tires mileage 27000. It is now 2024 October still have the same tires had no issues with them mileage is now 65000. Still got tread. Driven 38k with them and in all weather conditions and roads. Would definitely recommend these tires.

Given 57% while driving a Audi A4 Allroad (225/55 R17) on mostly town for 4,500 easy going miles
These tires have the thinnest sidewall that I've ever seen. After 4000km on the car, the front tire got a pinhole puncture from a thorn, and the damage is irreparable. Never buying these again

Given 44% while driving a Mazda 3 2014 (215/45 R18) on a combination of roads for 15,000 spirited miles
Got sold these tires as a cheap alternative to big branded tires. They were decent for the 1st year, lacking a bit though. After 10k miles they went to shit and the handling was incredibly poor. I started losing traction on corners I had previously never had an issue with. These tires are cheap for a reason, they do the job for cheap but if you do a lot of driving I would never suggest them. If you drive to the shops round the corner they're cheap and fine.

definetly its not a sport tire. Its a very quiet soft and safe tire that you wont regret buying it.

Given 89% while driving a Audi A1 (225/40 R17 W) on a combination of roads for 1,000 average miles
I put a pair of these on the front of my wife's 2018 Audi A1 TDI after the Bridgestones were looking tired @17k miles. I was dubious about using mid range tires for the first time ever but the Continental ownership of General reassured me. The tires are rated B/C in respect of wet weather and rolling resistance.
Having now scrubbed in for a thousand miles the tires are very impressive, it's a nippy little car with bags of torque for such a low kerb weight but the front grips well in the wet and seems to pull up well under moderate braking. So far, so good, it's difficult to comment on the wear rate but @ £75 per they're looking good.

Very comfortable drive, great handling and much improved breaking.

There are a step up from the Altimax sport at the same price point. Great value for money.
