Dry grip is the clearest strength of the Sumitomo HTR Z5 in a small, generally positive set of owner reviews. Wet grip also attracts praise, although two of those comments are the same owner repeating the same experience. Value is another positive, including a returning owner who remained satisfied after 11,000 miles with even tread remaining. Wear is the main reservation: two of the six owners describe short life at replacement, one acknowledging particularly hard use. “Excellent dry grip. I maybe abusive to this tire but that said with 8k kms on this set the front tires are half worn while the rears needed replacement. Allow 800kms for proper break in. It will feel down right sketchy...”

These tires have survived 2 trips across Europe to the Nurburgring, then completed wet and dry laps at pace! Plus daily use over a period of 12 months. Tread wear is an even 5-6mm across all 4 tires at 11k miles. Fairly impressive due to the low price point! Not recommended for track use, but will definitely stand up to some abuse.

Not had them on more than 2 months but have just done a 790 miles drive in one day across Europe speeds upto 125mph. . And can say from an average person’s perspective they are a brilliant tire. They are quiet compared to some of the other brands iv had in the past I’d put them with something like continentals or Dunlop. Would definitely recommend and buy again. Road noise is a big part of my problem with 235/40/18s more so after 13 hrs of motorway driving. And can say these tiers are worth every penny.

Excellent dry grip. I maybe abusive to this tire but that said with 8k kms on this set the front tires are half worn while the rears needed replacement. Allow 800kms for proper break in. It will feel down right sketchy. After break-in these grip and become a real fun tire. I am seeing how far the rear will without the extreme abuse. No drifting this time.
