235/45 18 Tire Review Highlights

Hankook Kinergy 4S2 rated 84% while driving a Volvo V40 D4 R Design Polestar
Driving on mostly motorways for 46602 average miles
Very noisy after the third year of use and over 50.000 km.

Vredestein Ultrac Vorti rated 60% while driving a Opel Astra J 2.0 CDTI
Driving on mostly country roads for 20000 spirited miles
Stiff carcass, great feedback and handling when new.
If you drive a lot, go for it.
Thrown away after 3 years, became to dry and went all over the place. No dry rot.
Almost wrecked the car twice in dry.
No more Vredesteins for us.

Sava Intensa UHP 2 rated 40% while driving a Opel Astra J 2.0 CDTI
Driving on mostly country roads for 15000 spirited miles
Astra J 2.0 Biturbo 143kW, 194 HP.

Dot 5022.
First summer it was ok, but shockingly poor braking from 160km/h to 0.
Now in the third summer, it spinns when accelerating in 2nd and 3rd gear.
Wet performance was just ok.
For such a soft carcass, quite loud.
We are from ex-YU, so there is a bias towards Sava tires. Their winter ones S3 and HP2 are good, but UHP2 are pure trash.
Buy something else.

Michelin Primacy 5 rated 80% while driving a Lexus ES300H
Driving on mostly motorways for 40 average miles
Now almost 1K km after first installation replacing my Pilot Sports 5. I am sharing my experience in direct comparison to the PS5. Impressed with how tires maintain grip on exceptionally wet road conditions (am from the tropical world). Going over a puddle of water made me realised that the car does not experience as much drag as my previous PS5. Great water dispersion / evacuation. Aqua planning resisting is good, and that is of paramount importance.
Handling and feel are not as good as PS5, at least to me, a small sacrifice as i am not exactly an aggressive driver. I put emphasis on safety, comfort and durability.
Rolling resistance is obvious, something you can feel, not just a number or a factor given by the manufacturer. It glided smoothly on the road, and as a bonus, tires are so quiet and feels so supple, my car is now super comfy.
I have been driving over 40 years, and have used numerous tires made by major brands (i will spare you the details) and i can attest that the Primacy P5 is the best set of tires i have used todate, PROVIDED, that they last as long as what Michelin claimed.
But until then, I am fully loving those new tires whole heartedly.

Bridgestone Weather Control A005 EVO rated 54% while driving a Volkswagen Passat 2.0TDI [150PS] DSG
Driving on mostly motorways for 15000 average miles
Approximately 15k miles and still have 4mm tread remaining. These tires were good when first fitted October 2023 and remained good for 14 months. They do not feel as good on the car as a summer tire, much softer, but I suppose that is the compromise. The wet weather performance was also not as good as a summer tire which suprised me. Performance in snow was notably good compared with summer tires. I had 4 tires fitted and after 14 months 2 of those tires have deformed with raised bumps on the outer edge of the tread all around the tire, giving the impression that some part of the tread has delaminated. For the limited winter snow and ice we get here in the north of england I do not think the compromise is worth the lack of performance in dry and wet weather. I will be switching back to summer tires.

Pirelli Cinturato All Season SF3 rated 86% while driving a Tesla Model 3 LR
Driving on a combination of roads for 10000 easy going miles
I have had the original 19” Sport wheels with Hankook Ventus Evo 3 tires when I bought the car second hand, but changed to Michelin ePrimacy on 18” wheels for the improved ride & efficiency. Come winter and it was time to change to all season tires. I have used CrossClimate tires on other vehicles previously, starting with the originals, then the + then the 2. In snow they were great, but we hardly get any snow where I am in the East Midlands, UK, and found that the tires could not cope with the torque of a front wheel drive EV Kia Soul in the damp or wet and in general I was not happy with the CreossClimate 2 wet weather performance.

Having seen the 2024/2025 review of the all season tires, I decided to try the SF3 tires. Really impressed in the cold and wet weather we had over the winter. Great feel, sure footed, efficient and quiet and very hard to get wheel spin on my model 3 Dual Motor. After 10,000 miles they have gone from 6.0mm starting down to a little over 5.0mm. The only reason I probably would not buy again, would be to get a dedicated EV All Season tire, and at the moment there is only one on the market, the Hankook Ion FlexClimate. As I have not yet experienced snow or ice yet, I have not been able to rate in these categories. As I have still got my ePrimacy tires, I have had them put back on for the summer & autumn. The Pirelli’s will be back on for winter. I currently drive around 25,000 miles a year, so I tend to drive for efficiency rather than performance.

Giti Control P10 rated 64% while driving a Tesla 2024 Model 3 RWD
Driving on a combination of roads for 3000 average miles
After rave reviews, I tried the Giti Control P10 tires, attracted by their price—half that of premium tires. If comfort and low noise are priorities for daily driving, these may not suit you.

Pros: Half the cost of premium tires, comparable rolling resistance to my previous Hankook Ion EVO, and better wet grip with confident handling in rain.

Cons: Noticeable 'weng weng' sound at 80-95 km/h, which may bother sound-sensitive drivers. Comfortable and quiet for the first 3,000-4,000 km, but they get bumpier and noisier afterward, unlike premium tires, which typically maintain comfort until 10,000 km.

Michelin e.Primacy rated 56% while driving a Tesla Model 3 LR
Driving on a combination of roads for 31000 average miles
Very poor performance on wet surface. Dangerous even when you are driving at motorway speed and passing on this flyover bridge joint, these tires will lose grip immediately and give you a shock.

Giti GitiComfort rated 46% while driving a Toyota Camry
Driving on mostly town for 10000 spirited miles
I've used Giticomfort 228v1 for my front tires on my 2005 Toyota Camry as replacement for my Michelin Primacy 3st and I can tell right away that 228v1's comfort is quite different with Primacy 3st. It produces more low frequency sound and is quite noisy on high speeds, though it is not bad for bumpy roads. Wet isn't the best. ABS works heavily on normal wet braking which indicates it's not good in the wet. Its treadlife is average. Steering is less precise as Primacy but it's good enough for comfort. I would recommend this tire to those seeking for a budget friendly tire that is better than other cheaper chinese like Westlake etc. but don't expect really good dry and wet grip. Premium tires like Michelins will still be better in everything but at a premium cost.

Sailun ERANGE EV rated 66% while driving a Tesla Model 3 Performance
Driving on mostly motorways for 5000 spirited miles
This is an average tire. So much for the hype of EV but really about the same as others (or worse). Not a bad tire if you get a good price say half of Hankook for example.

Hankook iON Evo rated 97% while driving a Tesla Model 3 standard plus
Driving on a combination of roads for 40000 average miles
Model 3 Rwd.
Fronts did 45k miles rear did 25k miles.
Could have pushed them more but became noisy at the end.
Efficiency amazing 180-190wh/mile. Cornering and traction amazing. Noise 2-3 dB lower cabin noise than my old PS4.
Amazing purchase.
Went back to them after having Continental Ultra contact NXT.
Strongly recommend. These are not the AS tires.
AA traction and A temperature. 320 tread wear.

Michelin e.Primacy rated 57% while driving a Tesla 2024 Model 3 RWD
Driving on mostly town for 15000 average miles
I live on a hill. The only road out of my house goes downhill. On rainy days, I have to be extremely cautious on this road. At very low speeds, 10–20 km/h, if I lift my foot off the accelerator, I can feel the car sliding slightly downhill, and the regenerative braking in my Model 3 deactivates. This results in an unpleasant sensation of the car skidding downwards for a few centimeters/half a second.

The same thing happens on sharp turns and roundabouts when it's wet. Even without pressing much on the accelerator, the car slides (this can easily happen at just 10 or 20 km/h). In city traffic on wet streets, I take extra precautions and leave a greater distance from the car in front, because if I need to brake moderately (for example at 40 km/h), the car slides about half a meter further. These low-speed situations on wet surfaces are very frequent.

On highways or open roads at 100 or 120 km/h, I haven’t experienced these problems, but even so, I don’t feel confident when it rains.

None of these issues happen in dry conditions BTW. It’s a shame because the e.Primacy in other aspects is ok for normal driving and even great (not too noisy, good comfort), but due to its serious issues on wet surfaces, I will replace them very soon, probably before they reach the end of its lifespan. It's a matter of safety.
