Questions and Answers for the Falken ZIEX ZE310 EcoRun
Ask a questionI’m looking to replace a set of bridgestones which came with my Skoda Fabia Monte Carlo from new. It seems to be an awkward tire size at 215/40/17. I was hoping for all seasons, but there’s only a choice of 2. So I decided on summer tires. I’ve sort of narrowed it down to the Falken ZIEX ZE310 and the Hankook Ventus Prime 3. Which would you recommend ?
Is the Falken ZIEX ZE310 EcoRun suitable for a SUV 4x4 which is only used on road? My car is a 2014 ford Kuga 2.0 titanium powershift. 235 x 55 R17 tires
I have a Golf 7 1.4TSi 122BHP with 205/55 X16 German OEM Dunlop Blue Response tires. These are internally noisy and have very soft sidewalls leading to sloppy handling. I am proposing to chage them to other 205/55 X16V tires. Falken ZE310, Hankook Prime 3 K125 and Bridgestone T005 have been suggested as possible replacements. The Falkens have a very low external noise performance but I not convinced that this is a reliable guide to the internal noise. I had a very bad expeiuence with German OEM Dunlop tires on a new BMW 316i in the past and I wonder if the Blue Response tires are of the same ilk? i.e. poor OEM tires. Internal noise & wet grip are the most important parameters for the replacements and I am willing to trade off ride comfort with slightly stiffer sidewalls. Any comments you have would be much appreciated. Many thanks for the most helpful web site.
I have a VW Passat 59 plate and need new tires. Should I go for the Falken Ziex ZE310 Ecorun or the Falken Azenis FK510? Both look like good mid range tires and recommended by your website.
The group test of the 205/55 X 16 tires was really good. I have a Golf 7 1.4 with this size of tire and am contemplating a change to Falken. VW fitted 205/55 X16 91H tires to this car in late 2014. Could you please tell me why 94V Falken ZIEX ZE310 tires were used in the test? Did Falken recommend them or were they the only ones available in this size? The 94V version is available locally at a very good price. Thanks BJ
Are these a good bet for a Lexus NX300h in 225/60/18?
I’m looking for a the most sporty tire in the not very popular 205/50r15 size, so that means no Michelin/Continental/Goodyear or even Maxxis Primetra. I’ve narrowed it down to the Falken ZE310 Ecorun and the Hankook Ventus V12 Evo2. I’m not worried about noise or comfort, just subjective handling. Which would you plump for?
What can you tell us, if anything, about the replacement for this? The upcoming ZE320. Cheers!

Review Summary
Based on 104 user reviews
Across 104 reviews, the Falken ZIEX ZE310 EcoRun is most often described as a strong value summer tire with confident wet and dry grip (including good aquaplaning resistance) and notably low road noise. Many drivers also praise its predictable, safe handling and generally good wear for the money, with a high rate of repeat purchases. The main recurring downside is higher rolling resistance leading to increased fuel consumption, and some users note a softer sidewall/less sharp steering response that makes it feel less sporty or a bit vague when pushed.
Strengths
- Very quiet / low road noise
- Strong wet grip and good aquaplaning resistance
- Good dry grip and braking performance
- Excellent value for money / price-performance
- Predictable
- Confidence-inspiring handling
- Generally good wear/longevity for the price
Areas for Improvement
- Higher rolling resistance leading to worse fuel economy
- Soft sidewalls / slightly vague steering response and less sporty feel
- Ride can feel firm/harsh on rough roads for some vehicles/setups
Top 3 Falken ZIEX ZE310 EcoRun Reviews
After a couple of months of use they are by far the worst tires i have ever had on my car.
In dry condition they are good with good grip and quiet ride. But in wet condition they are dangerous specially in conditions where it is dry and then you have a little water on the street they glide on the street like they are passing over oil.
I am already changing them after a couple of months of use, i won't buying them again.
Insisted in buying again but had to make do with falken sm-110 as that was available. Will review those accordingly. As for wear and tear, tires been on car for 5 years daily driving rear are almost untouched and front started cracking hence needing replacing, still totally driveable on dry

I want to buy it again but they no longer produce 92 load index for new ziex.
Have run the Falkens over 2 + [1/2] full sets.
Car is Renault Twingo RS. Cup chassis "Silverstone" ltd edition.
Pretty specific size 195-40/17 so not a lot out there.
Have zero complaints about falkens in wet dry or during winter - as long as you drive to the "season".
Surprising in the wet, excellent in dry. Wear is good. My tires come as XL Vs
It may well be the chassis that is allowing them to flourish.
Seasonally, there are better out there.
But as an all rounder they are v effective and the price is really good to say the least.
In fact I will go as far as to say performance to £/$ wise they are a steal.
Front-end grip is good and gives a clear sense of what the car is doing. You can easily tell whether you still have traction or are starting to lose it. Braking performance is also decent, with quick and predictable reactions. Ride comfort has improved noticeably too, with a softer response over sharp-edged potholes.
Given the price and the tires they replaced, this might sound like a very positive review. I wouldn’t necessarily recommend these as a first choice for a powerful or performance-oriented car, but if you’re looking for a solid, economical tire for a ten-year-old city car that mostly drives in dry, warm conditions, these Falkens are a pretty good option.
Which is something I never experience here, I think the feedback and response from these tires are good.
Only think that's weaker for these tires are the rolling resistants, which is quite high. So my fuel consumption went up a bit compared to my older toyo nanoenergy 3.
The tires are also quite quiet, especially considering they're not very expensive. Would certainly consider getting falken again.
