Wins count every measurement the shared tests recorded for both tires; a tick marks the tire ahead on that line. Subjective driver scores count as wins but are never averaged, because each test uses its own scale.
Head to head in 11 tests, 2020 to 2024
Each row is one published test in which both tires ran on the same car, in the same size, on the same day. The line is the whole field, winner on the left.

In each test the better of the two figures counts as 100% and the other as its share of it, so a 118 ft stop against 112 ft is 95%; each spoke averages the shared tests that recorded it. The scale stops at 95%: a point further in sits on the hub's edge, hollow. 4 measurements recorded in only one shared test are left off; every measurement is in the table further down.

Braking distances and lap times are better when lower; speeds, wear and grip figures when higher. A test's figures are its own: sizes, cars, surfaces and temperatures differ from one to the next, which is why the averages here are only ever of tests the two tires shared. "Scored" rows are subjective driver ratings: each test uses its own scale, so only the wins are counted.

Falken ZIEX ZE310 EcoRun
- 80%from 119 reviews
- 78%would buy again
- 1,000,122 milesdriven by reviewers
Drivers generally describe the Falken ZIEX ZE310 EcoRun as an excellent value summer touring tire with strong wet-weather safety (including aquaplaning resistance) and confident dry grip, often punching above its price class. A very common highlight is low cabin noise and an overall smooth, secure feel, with many users also reporting good wear life over high mileage. The most recurring drawbacks are higher rolling resistance (fuel consumption increase for some cars) and a softer/less precise steering feel that can disappoint more performance-focused drivers, with a subset also finding the ride firmer on rough roads.
- Strong wet grip and reassuring aquaplaning resistance
- Good dry grip and braking
- Low road noise / quiet cabin
- Good value for money
- Higher rolling resistance leading to increased fuel consumption for some drivers
- Soft sidewalls or less precise steering/feedback (not ideal for hard sporty driving)
- Firm/harsh ride on rough roads for some vehicles/setups

- Very comfortable, supple ride
- Low road noise and a quieter cabin
- Excellent dry grip
- Secure dry handling
- Wet grip can feel mediocre or less confidence-inspiring
- Steering feel can be numb with limited feedback
- Cold-weather grip can drop off

All 39 Cinturato P7 C2 reviewsAfter the first negative impressions, i've got used to the difference in feeling and feedback they give in weather changes. Even when they feel soft, or rock hard (same pressure, different ambient temperature) they handle well and give adequate road feedback. You need to be aware when a cold, rainy day comes after a warm, sunny one, they will be terrible in the first wet drive. After that, they will be dependable and informative as usual.

Reading the results
Written from the test results and owner reviews above. It is analysis, not a measurement: where it and the tables disagree, the tables are right.
Eleven shared tests going back to 2020, and the head to head record is six to five in the Pirelli Cinturato P7 C2's favor. That is as close as this database gets over that many tests, and it hides two tires built to different briefs.
The Pirelli is the one that stops. It braked shorter in the dry in all nine tests that measured it, by 8.0 percent at al Volante in 2020, and it took wet handling in six of seven. Testers reward that: 2nd of 9 at Auto Zeitung in 2024, 2nd of 53 in Auto Bild's 2021 braking test, and highly recommended in our own 2023 summer touring test.
The Falken ZIEX ZE310 EcoRun is the one that costs less and lasts longer. It was the cheaper tire in four of five price comparisons, 89 against 107 at ADAC in 2023, it won all three wear tests, 35,020km against 30,600km in 2021, and all three cost per 1000km comparisons. It also won five of eight straight aquaplaning runs and three of four curved ones.
Conclusion
The Pirelli Cinturato P7 C2 is the stronger tire when the road is dry or the corner is fast. Nine dry braking comparisons, nine Pirelli wins, including 35.9m against 39m at al Volante in 2020 and 34.5m against 35.8m in Auto Bild's 16 inch test. It also led wet handling in six of seven tests and took the subjective scores in our own tests, 95 against 90 in the dry and 100 against 95 in the wet in 2023, where it was highly recommended and the Falken recommended.
The Falken ZIEX ZE310 EcoRun answers on running costs, and the answer is substantial. It won every wear test between them, 35,020km against 30,600km in 2021, every cost per 1000km comparison, by 22 percent that year and 19.6 percent at ADAC in 2023, and it was the cheaper tire to buy in four of five tests. Add better straight aquaplaning in five of eight runs, better curved aquaplaning in three of four, and our own comfort score of 100 against 95, and the case for saving the money is a real one.
One result deserves flagging because it contradicts the rest. In our own 2020 summer test the Falken finished 3rd of 12 and the Pirelli 10th, with the Falken braking 4.2m shorter in the wet, 35.7m against 39.9m. That is the opposite of what ADAC, Auto Bild and Auto Zeitung have found since, so treat it as a snapshot of that tire, in that size, on that day rather than the pattern. Overall: the Pirelli for braking and wet pace, the Falken if you would rather keep the difference in your pocket.

Finishing positions and measurements are transcribed from each published test. A test only counts here when both tires ran in it, so every figure was recorded on the same car, size and day as the one it is compared to.
About the TR Score
The Tire Reviews Score rates each tire out of 10 from every independent test result and vetted owner review we hold, so two tires can be compared even before a test has run them together.
Who does the testing
Every test published as a Tire Reviews test is run by Jonathan Benson, who has been testing tires independently since 2007.
