Review Summary
Based on 135 user reviews
Most drivers rate the Nexen N Fera SU1 positively, praising its strong dry and generally good wet grip, quiet and comfortable ride, and excellent value for money-often comparing it favorably to premium brands at a much lower price. Many report good mileage and predictable handling, especially when new. However, a notable minority cite safety-related concerns including sidewall cracking/splitting and occasional blowouts, along with soft sidewalls that can dull steering feel and inconsistent wet grip that tends to worsen as the tire wears (particularly on heavier cars and some EVs). Overall sentiment skews positive, but durability of the carcass/sidewall and wet performance when worn are recurring concerns.
Strengths
- Good dry grip
- Quiet/low noise
- Comfort/ride quality
- Value for money
- Predictable handling
- Decent wet grip (when new)
Areas for Improvement
- Sidewall cracking/splitting and premature failure
- Soft sidewalls/weak steering feel
- Wet grip degrades as tread wears (inconsistent in rain on some vehicles)

Latest Nexen N Fera SU1 Reviews
After driving 40,000–50,000 miles on my front tires, I found their dry grip to be very good, providing great feedback. The wet grip was decent, but I did notice a slight loss of traction on rainy days, which made me more cautious.
The biggest advantage of these tires is their affordability—they offer performance that is average to slightly above average for the price. However, my main concern, and the reason for this review, is their durability. Despite my moderate driving habits, I found that these tires wore out rather quickly.
When my tires had about 3mm of tread left (around 70% worn), I hit a small but somewhat deep pothole at just 29 mph. To my surprise, the tire completely blew out in the middle of the road! This incident made me realize that these tires are not very well reinforced and can become risky as they near the end of their lifespan. While they perform well initially, I urge drivers to be extra cautious once they start wearing down.
I also noticed that the peripheral edges of the tires began wrinkling, which could indicate weak reinforcement. Perhaps this was just my experience, but I didn’t expect a tire to fail so dramatically at low speed.
I bought the car, but told the dealer about the tire. I asked for a MOT as well, and Ill buy the car no quibbles.
Ive had the car 5 years. And only used these tires to keep it all matching at the same. The grip levels dry and wet are fair. How ever during the colder months the car likes to wheel spin in certain inclines, pulling away. And feels very pushy.
Ive even took these tires on a track day. I was surprised with the fair performance again, They like to edge wear a fair bit I find.
Now to my MAJOR gripe with this tire. In the 5 years ive owned this car. Ive put NINE tires on it. I think two tires where replaced due to wear. The rest where due to the sidewalls splitting on the inside. Upon googling, you will find lots of other people suffering from the same. Ive not driven the tires flat. They just seem to suffer from British roads a little too badly I find. I do try to avoid pot holes and ruts as best as possible. But it seems the build quality of these tires are just so poor, you could probably sneeze on them and the tire would split.
Ive seen worse MOT'ing cars. But Ive got a tire thats 6 months old, with 1-2 inch splits in the side wall on the inside.
Id personally avoid this brand. Im looking into other tires within my budget, and now just going to replace all 4, and hopefully not need to change tires again after 6 months.
The tires were quite noisy, and wear has not been exceptional, however, they have cracked all around the outer edges, inner and outer, on all 4 tires.
Recommended to me by a trusted tire dealer that I have used for years, and no reason to disbelieve them.
I would not recommend or buy these again
