I have the hakkapelitta 10 on my 2014 VW Caravelle (only front wheel drive) as a dedicatet winter tire. Here in northern Norway the roads are covered with hard packed snow and ice for almost 5 months of the year. Occasionally we get a change in the weather pattern and it dumps a lot of rain on the icy roads.

After two winters i can now say that the hakkapelitta 10 is the best option for those extrem conditions. They grip well on the slippery surfaces in high speeds and loose traction in a slow and controlled manner. Before, i lived in the southern parts of Norway, where i had the hakkapelitta R8, which is a non studded winter tire. It felt like that the non studded winter tire was better in digging itself throug deep snow and it was quieter when cornering, but that where the only advantages of the non studded winter tire to the hakkapelitta 10.

It is hard to judge how the treadwear is after now 20.000km of winter driving. The tires get only driven on mostly hard packed snowy and icy country roads and in the town. There is not that much driving on bare asphalt in the winter months, so the rubber of the tires almost doesn`t wear at all. Like 1mm after two winters. And the studs are still all there, still looking like new. Here in the nordics we usually buy new winter tires when the old ones get so old that the rubber hardens. The last studded winter tires i had to change had still 6mm of depth in the profile and all the studs where still there, but they were 8 years old which hade made the rubber hard.

It's the comfort that is lacking, quite rough and drones at continental motorway speeds. I have the 103 XL and I think the dampers seem to 'fight' with the side wall. I have tried putting in an extra pound psi which is better but not sure I would buy again

Bought my car with these tires on, so obviously not my choice of tires for the car (VW T4 Caravelle). Honestly, these might be good cargo tires, but for a passenger car they're well below expectations. Tires are very loud, massively lacking grip on wet, they're not good on dry either and the handling was very poor (this might be due to the size/profile). The only upside is wearing, had these for 30k miles and there was still plenty of thread left. Anyway, wouldn't recommend these at all, unless you want to loose control of your car on wet.

Bought as new and only done like 8k miles on these so far but I had a chance of driving through heavy and deep snow, in a heavy car (VW T4 Caravelle) with amazing results. Once I had to stop while going up the steep hill and managed to start again without even using snowchains - I was stunned! Amazing grip in severe conditions, with (so far) more than reasonable wear - definitely a tire I can recommend and would buy again.

Bought these tires as used, with approx. 5-6mm of thread left. Massively disappointed by lack of grip on the snow and ice (despite being more of a premium brand), and excessive wear - that 5-6mm of thread lasted only for 6k miles... Not recommend and wouldn't buy again.

Absolutely surprised by these tires, in a positive way. Amazing handling on wet as well as on dry tarmac, quiet and responsive. I've got these fitted on rather heavy car (VW T4 Caravelle) and after 2 seasons the wear is only noticeable. Would definitely buy these again.

Absolutely rubbish! Been on just over a year and have already cracked all the way around the rims on every tire. Living on the traction control on wet roundabouts in THIRD gear!!! AVOID THESE TRYES AT ALL COSTS! You will kick yourself if you put these on anything heavier than pushbike! Vague to zero feedback from the tires in the dry. Swapping them for Michelin latitudes before the end of the week!
