Questions and Answers for the Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymmetric 2
Ask a questionHi, can you tell me on average how long or how many miles this Tire should last for please? Thank you
I am looking for a replacement set of tires for a 2006 jaguar xjr. I have had Hankook Ventus V12's which were a great tire but soft sidewalls. Nexen N1000 have been a great compromise but they pick up punctures easily so I am getting rid of them. Problem is the cost of medium range tires has exploded over the past 6 years and there is little difference between a nexen Su1, dunlop maxx 050+ and goodyear AS3. One of the tire shops hates Goodyear product and says they are inferior quality despite the high test scores. I heard the AS2 is a better tire than the AS3 because it has a stronger sidewall. So what is the best choice of tire if i don't want to spend crazy money on Michelin.
According to the National Tire Service these tires should only be fitted to Porsches. Is that correct? I have an Audi Q5. Thanks Chris

Review Summary
Based on 366 user reviews
Across driver feedback, the Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymmetric 2 is widely praised as a confidence-inspiring UHP summer tire with standout wet grip, strong dry grip/braking, and a noticeably quieter, more comfortable ride than many OEM-fit rivals (especially when replacing run-flats). Many owners also highlight stable high-speed manners, predictable breakaway, and reduced tramlining. The most consistent drawbacks are faster-than-expected wear for some drivers and a softer sidewall feel that can reduce steering sharpness, with a notable subset also reporting sidewall bulges/damage sensitivity on rough, pothole-prone roads (particularly with run-flat fitments).
Strengths
- Excellent wet grip and wet braking (high confidence in rain)
- Strong dry grip and braking performance
- Quiet road noise for a uhp tire (often quieter than competitors/oe tires)
- Comfortable ride and improved refinement (especially vs run-flats)
- Predictable
- Progressive handling near the limit
- Reduced tramlining and improved straight-line stability
- Good all-round balance for daily driving plus spirited use
- Rim protector appreciated by many owners
Areas for Improvement
- Wear rate can be faster than expected (especially on driven axle or with spirited/high-power use)
- Soft sidewalls can feel vague/spongy and reduce turn-in/steering precision
- Some reports of sidewall bulges/splits or damage sensitivity from potholes/rough roads (notably on run-flat versions)
- Noise can increase as the tire ages/wears for some users
