Nissan 370Z Tire Review Highlights

Writing about the Yokohama Advan Sport AS Plus given 85% (265-40-18-)
Driving on mostly motorways for 2000 average miles
I just bought these tires for my "winter" wheels (Square 265/40R18). I wanted a set of tires that can be considered very safe in cold/wet conditions. The first thing I noticed was the ride comfort and overall lack of road noise. Considering this tire will never see the track, this was an excellent revelation. The tires are very sure footed in wet conditions, and they can safely disperse puddles that accumulate on the road.

These are just my initial thoughts, but so far, so good.

Driving on a combination of roads for 10000 spirited miles
I used the Michelin PS4S as a general street use tire on my 370Z for a little more than 2 years. I will add the disclaimer that my alignment used was more track biased with extra negative camber dialed in, but these have never seen the track. Overall, these are a great tire to use on the road. Peak grip is excellent and the ride quality is also noticeably improved over competitors. When the tread was adequate (above the wear bars), the wet traction was pretty good as well. However, I did not enjoy the steering feedback from the vehicle. Compared to the same sizes of my previous Continental Extreme Contact Sport, turn-in felt vague and not as responsive. The overall treadwear of the tires is excellent. My front tires are still good but being a rear-wheel drive car, it's expected for those to wear out faster.

I am moving onto the Bridgestone Potenza Sport tires (mainly due to a closeout pricing) because the Michelins are just far too expensive for what they offer on the road. For the track, I recommend just getting a good set of 200TW tires.

Driving on a combination of roads for 5000 spirited miles
Excellent dry grip. I maybe abusive to this tire but that said with 8k kms on this set the front tires are half worn while the rears needed replacement. Allow 800kms for proper break in. It will feel down right sketchy. After break-in these grip and become a real fun tire. I am seeing how far the rear will without the extreme abuse. No drifting this time.

Driving on mostly motorways for 27000 spirited miles
I have these(245-40x19f, 275-35x19 r) on a 370z, which is a 3300lb car. Wet and dry traction along with noise and comfort have been excellent. The handling responsiveness has been a little too vague and the impulse response of the tires seems sluggish, which I attribute to the very flexible sidewalls. The one characteristic I'd like to bring out is the phenomenally low tread wear on the tires. I measured the tread depth and tweaked the inflation pressures at 1k mile intervals. I haven't been able to rotate the tires but the tread wear has been perfectly uniform across the tread on all tires. The tites now have about 37k miles on them now and are averaging slightly under 50% for remaining tread life. The tires started with 9/32” tread depth and the fronts are now at 5/32", with the rears at 4/32".

Driving on for 0 miles
Excellent grip in the dry, I could feel the tire sticking to the road and had confidence when turning. However, the /50 profile sidewall was extremely soft and caused a lot of body roll and slow turn in, which spoiled all the fun from a sporty drive. Would not buy again, but maybe a lower profile would be better.

Driving on a combination of roads for 7000 spirited miles
Seeing it being Australian engineered but made in China, thought it was alright at first. After approx 16000km, the front started ballooning despite maintaining tire pressure throughout its lifetime. Only learned that it's quite often these tires buldge in Bruneis market. If they made their tires at a better quality, I'd buy them again as their price point is very attractive.

Writing about the Bridgestone Potenza Sport given 96% (275-35-19-)
Driving on mostly country roads for 1100 spirited miles
Previously driven with the Michelin PS4S. And I was very interested in how the Bridgestone Potenza Sport tires would suit me. And gosh I like them. From sporty road driving to a lap at the Nurburgring! They provide a bizarre amount of grip and a great steering response. From my opinion very similar to the PS4S in all areas, only purely on steering response, the Potenza Sport beats the PS4S.

Driving on mostly town for 0 spirited miles
Came from a pair of falken tires and was comfortable taking corners at 60 and 80 on the mountain pass I normally go to. After receiving this pair of tires from ozzy tires I knew budget tires were gonna be horrible. After a break in period I was going to take it to the same pass I normally take it and after leaving my house I lost traction 3 times before even getting there. Simple corners and moderate speeds will put you sideways. I have a steep driveway and in the rain it was a struggle to get out. People with non performance cars are probably fine to use these tires as a budget purpose, but if you have any car over 200hp I would not recommend. Even if you decide to buy it be prepared to deal with the most annoying tire sound I have ever experienced as it is a constant high pitch whir, enough to the point it made me go out and upgrade my exhaust just to drown it out.

Driving on a combination of roads for 7000 spirited miles
I swapped from Bridgestone RE05 which came with the 370Z and for half the cost! I take 400bhp modified 370Z on track days and spirited driving trips (European tours) and I am very impressed with the performance of the Federal for the money... Bang for buck and they look amazing! Lateral load handling on track and road is great, XL tires, great contact patch. Unsure in the wet, struggles when cold but once going no issues at all and deals with aquaplaning well when motorway pounding, very stable. Mega impressed overall and seem to be lasting well also... 7,000 miles (60% spirited miles) and a track day and loads of lift left around 5.2-4.8mm

Driving on a combination of roads for 200 spirited miles
Have recently changed all 4 tires to these new Federal st1's and am relatively impressed with the performance they provide. Ive come from a mix of budget tires including Achilles ATRs, Nexens and Sailun ZSR's. The ST1's are noticeably quieter and have far better dry grip and handling. Am yet to test in wet conditions but so far very happy for the price.

Replace the set of PS2, these tires had more grip in both dry and wet than the PS2 and significantly better than the original RE050A. Quicker turn in and better road feedback, very grippy but it did give me a feel of sudden lost of grip at the limit than the PS2. Good fun on the track. They were also more quiet and less harsh even I had 98 at front and 100 loadings at the back. The PSS triggered the traction control to step in earlier than other sets, I got a habit of turning off the traction control when i started the engine.

My set didn't last very long though, had them for around 18ks before replacing them because cracks appeared on the surface of both rear tires and at similar locations - cracks along the circumference on the inner tread blocks. My mechanics said the tires were delaminating. Tires made in week 13 of 2016, so about 3yrs old and no more.
