Scoring Process
  1. Collect Test Data: Gather results from professional tire tests across multiple publications. Minimum 1 test(s) required.
  2. Normalize Positions: Convert test positions to percentile scores using exponential weighting (factor: 1.2).
  3. Apply Recency Weighting: More recent tests are weighted higher with a decay rate of 0.95.
  4. Incorporate User Reviews: Factor in user review data (minimum 5 reviews). Weight: 15%.
  5. Bayesian Smoothing: Apply Bayesian prior (score: 7, weight: 1.5) to prevent extreme scores with limited data.
  6. Calculate Final Score: Combine all components using normalization factor of 1.1. Max score with limited data: 9.5.

Which tire is best value and better break test? Dunlop SP Sport FM800 or Toyo Proxes CF2

I have not seen these in a test together yet, sorry.

I wanted to ask what are the European labeling parameters of these tires (wet grip, fuel efficiency and noise).

The label scores vary depending on size and part number. We don't keep records of the FM800 so it will be best to go directly to Dunlop.

Summer tires: Suburban driving, occasional highway, smooth ride, low noise, low annual milage, wet conditions safety is a main consideration. Would you go with this tire Dunlop SP Sport FM800 or the Continental Ultra Contact 7

I think I would probably side with the newer tire, which is the UltraContact 7.

I have a Toyota Yaris 2018 SX. What is the safest (dry/wet grip and anti aquaplaning) and newest tire: 1. Dunlop FM 800 or 2. Bridgestone Ecopia 300? Thanks for your steer... M

I'm not sure, sorry. These are both fairly often niche patterns.

Hi I would like to know are Dunlop tires and particularly the FM800 range have a high rolling resistance? Because I currently have the Falken Sincera and they are heavy tires not agile at all, the size in question is 195/50/R15, thinking of changing soon just need some advice Thanks!

There are plenty of tests on the site showing the Dunlop touring products are generally fine in rolling resistance tests. Unfortunately I have not seen any tests specifically of the FM800 however if you are in a region that displays the EU tire labels in retail that would be a good starting point.

Given 79% while driving a Volkswagen up! (175/65 R14) on a combination of roads for 22,000 average miles
Fitted to a 2012 VW Up @ 148000km, 4th set of tires I've put on this car since I bought it new. Excellent dry grip and handling, especially when punting the car through twisty country roads. Wet weather grip is very good, and I felt confident on these tires even in the most challenging of conditions where I live. Good steering feel and feedback. A tad noisy, especially at the limit, but I've had much worse. Wear is a bit disappointing compared to previous tires I've had on this car (I'm used to getting around 50000km per set), but perhaps this is a characteristic of being a somewhat sporty tire. Other than the relatively short lifespan, I have no complaints.

Given 79% while driving a Volkswagen Golf R20 270 bhp 4wd (235/45 R17) on a combination of roads for 2,000 spirited miles
Fitted to a 2012 Golf R, these have great grip for a touring tire (even compared to the Advan Fleva V701 I had before on a previous set of wheels), and are really reassuring in the wet, even when pushing it. Lateral grip is great but I can get a hint of wheelspin pushing the tires to their limits in the wet. Cannot comment on wear yet. Also very quiet. Sidewall isn't the most stiff so steering feel is more vague, however potentially due to tire size (235/45/17) rather than the fault of the design.

Beautiful wheels!
Given 80% while driving a Toyota Corolla FXGT (185/60 R14) on a combination of roads for 12,000 spirited miles
I've had the Dunlop SpSport FM800 for almost 2 years, I have done one trackday and many thousand kms of spirited driving, on backroads and even gravel tracks.
These tires grip surprisingly well on both wet and dry. Being very progressive at the limit and very predictable, I have pushed these tires hard on the track and they have never given me any grief, although my car isn't fast in a straight line I have modified it to be a backroad and corner specialist and these tires keep up. They also wear very well having done around 12,000 km on them and still have about 1mm left on the lowest tire. I would highly recommend and buy again but they are not available in my size in my country anymore :(

Given 82% while driving a Kia Motors Cerato 2019 (195/65 R15) on mostly motorways for 0 average miles
A good tires for daily drive. Fitted them on Kia cerato K3. Being compared to previous Yokohama ES32. I think this tires are very comfortable and the traction, dry grip and wet gripis very good.

Given 74% while driving a Hyundai elantra (195/65 R15) on a combination of roads for 2,100 average miles
Been using these tires for about 2 weeks. So far, dry and wet grip are quite good although felt that the braking distance can be better. No fanfare or felt any loss of traction when going through a water puddles However, steering felt less precise. Notwithstanding, this is a touring tire and I was using a UHP tire with a ‘V’ speed rating before this set of tires. Not sure about the wear as I have just used these tires for about 2 weeks. All in all, a decent tire at a reasonable price.

Given 94% while driving a Honda Jazz (185/55 R15) on mostly town for 75 easy going miles
I used this tire 75.000 km, nearly 8 year and all season, on all ground type (mostly in city). But cracked started on tire. I should change a new one.

Given 89% while driving a Toyota Sienta (195/65 R15) on a combination of roads for 12,000 average miles
Drove these LM800s on my Toyota Sienta Hybrid (gen2 1.5L) after my three sets of Ecopia 150 & 300, Yoko V552 for fuel economy (averaged 750km before fuel indicator lights up - on City/Highway : 30/70); fuel economy dropped to about 700km but the dry and especially wet traction is exceptional. Carpark turn slippage and squeal was very much minimized. Excellent as an overall compared to previous Bridgestone Ecopia and Yokohama BlueEarth. Couldn’t find anything else better for the price. Rotated when noisy (+20k) and back to a quiet ride. Thumbs up

Given 71% while driving a Toyota Corolla Altis (195/65 R15) on a combination of roads for 34,000 spirited miles
Too much noisy tire. Covered 54000 kms on this. Too many punctures every now and then. Steering got extremely hard. Replacing them when one of the tires got a bulged bubble type thing on the inside. Extreme hard tires.

Given 100% while driving a Honda FREED (195/55 R16) on a combination of roads for 2,000 average miles
Very good tires. Good grip and short braking distance. Very quiet too and definitely felt lighter than my previous t005 (which were excellent too but 205mm). Cheaper than the bigger brands and so far been very confident with these tires in wet and dry.

Given 60% while driving a Mercedes Benz (245/40 R18) on for 24,000 easy going miles
Min point of my review was to highlight the very high wear rate. I only got 24,000kms out of a set on rear of our Mercedes C200 Wagon. This is just driven around town for general family use.

Given 91% while driving a Skoda (205/55 R16) on mostly country roads for 60,000 average miles
I have Skoda Octavia 1.4.
Firs I had Continental EcoContact 5 (terrible tires), then I switched to the Dunlop SP Sport FM800 and it was amazing!
The dry and wet grip is great and the Straight Aqua is way batter then other tires.
The downside is the wear, I drive around 50,000 KM per year and it last less than 2 years.

Given 84% while driving a Mazda 121 (225/55 R17) on mostly town for 7,000 average miles
FM800 wasn’t official model that is brought in by DUNLOP AD in Singapore. It is made in Thailand, however the price is very competitive against big name like Michelin / Goodyear and even other official Dunlop models. My previous tire were Bridgestone T005A that was fitted on my car that come with dealer. FM800 performance was better than T005A in most of the aspect especially over Comfort, low noise and decent grip in dry / wet.

Given 86% while driving a Ford Fiesta (195/50 R15) on a combination of roads for 70 spirited miles
I have a ford fiesta ecoboost and do spirited driving daily in South Africa. These tires have lasted me easily over 60 000km. They are strong and deal with potholes with no issue. Grip is substantial in dry but I don't feel as confident in the wet. All in all I would definitely buy again for the price!
