245/40 R18 Tire Review Highlights
Writing about the Kumho Majesty 9 SOLUS TA 91
rated 80%
I switched to the Kumho Majesty 9 Solus TA93 from the Pirelli Cinturato P7 AO, and I’m honestly really happy with them.
These tires from Kumho Tire are noticeably more comfortable and quieter on both city roads and the highway. The ride feels smoother overall, and I’ve also noticed slightly better fuel efficiency compared to my old set from Pirelli.
For anyone wondering, the TA93 is basically the Asian-market exclusive version of the TA91—same idea and positioning, just a regional variant.
For daily driving, this has been a really nice upgrade.

A wonderful tire, initially I bought two pieces for the front axle because on the back I had hankook and cept evo 3 that still had life in them, after two days of driving I couldn't resist and bought two more :)), magnificent in 300 km I had the chance to test them only at temperatures below 0 in all conditions: wet, dry, icy, snowy. It is the most complete tire I have put on my car so far and it is clear to me that from now on I will only buy pa5 for the winter. It's surprising to me because from the reviews I saw that the tires would actually be narrower, for me it's the other way around and I don't have rim protection on them, it's surprising how a 245 tire is wider than an 8.5 j rim, and one more thing is surprising, how this tire at the same time is extremely comfortable but has an extremely stiff sidewall, in turns the car holds itself and it seems to me that the roll has decreased when switching from Hankook to Michelin for winter including the summer Pilot Sport 5 ones have a slightly softer sidewall.
In conclusion, a wonderful tire in all road conditions, it remains to be seen with wear.
I RECOMMEND

Good price. The comfort levels let this tire down. I find them harder over bumps compared to Goodyear Eagles F1. They are slightly noiser too. I think this has something to do with the higher wear rate (400). Because of this, I'll probably go back to premium tires.

Replaced the original Goodyear F1 Asymmetric 3 which was very goos on dry and comfot performace on Audi A4 40 FWD 2023. I had some coserns about the noise level which should by higher but proven to be very similar. The handling especially on aggressive accelerations was improved dramatically. It is expensive but worth the effort.

Have had these on my 2020 WRX for 25k miles and have been very pleased. Never had an issue in snow (Subaru’s AWD helps) but has been ole reliable in wet and snow. I don’t really push the car hard so dry grip seems standard but nothing crazy. Only downside was some minor sidewall or shoulder wear with fine cracks and dryness. Other than that a really good tire!

A very good blend of sport touring tire. Switched from smaller diameter runflats, comfort is still marginally better. Tire performs as described, perfect for everyday use. Holds on in corners very well at any speeds. Good in wet and colder (3-7 °C) temperatures too. No manufacturing quality issues. Can't comment on wear so far. Overall very satisfied with my purchase.

On 17 October 2025, I encountered a minor puncture on the right rear of my Bridgestone Potenza Sport tire - a nail punctured the tread. With about 2-3mm of tread remaining and an annual inspection looming in February 2026, I decided it was the perfect opportunity to try something new, even though it set me back GBP 300 / USD400 / HKD3000. Initially, my plan was to keep all four Bridgestone Potenza Sport tires until mid-2026 to avoid any inconsistencies in driving experience from mixing tire brands. However, the allure of trying a new rubber compound, particularly on my Front-Wheel Drive Audi A4 B9 40 TFSI, proved too tempting.
I settled on the highly acclaimed Michelin Pilot Sport series, specifically the PS5s. Before making my purchase, I diligently read numerous reviews including most here on Tire Review, watched several YouTube videos, and consulted with a friendly expert at the tire centre. I must admit, I am quietly impressed. Despite only replacing the rear tires, I have already noticed a significant reduction in tire noise - once again "quietly". Moreover, the tires and suspension now work harmoniously, resulting in a noticeable improvement in ride refinement. The velvet-like Michelin pattern on the side-wall adds an unusual but satisfying tactile experience.
Despiting only clocking around 200km since I bought them, I am already eagerly anticipating the replacement of the front tires. While the Bridgestone Potenza Sport excels in delivering thrilling performance on long, medium-aggression corners, the tire noise is quite prominent, and the ride quality is considerably harsher compared to the Michelin Pilot Sport 5, likely due to a firmer sidewall.
In summary, one cannot have it all. There will always be some compromise between refinement and spirited cornering, depending on personal preference of course. Additionally, it is essential to consider other factors such as road conditions and location. From my travels to Japan, I observed that their flat, well-maintained roads are ideal for Bridgestones, which are designed for such conditions. Conversely, the cambered roads in the UK, Europe, and even Hong Kong are better suited to the Michelin Pilot Sport 5s' curved side-treads. So honestly, there's no wrong - nor right here. Another bizarre variable I'd throw in to your choice is, has this been a brand of rubber you've tried? I am super keen until the day I get pinned down to try all the possible brands in the world. I haven't tried:
Mid-tier: Yokohoma Advan, Hankooks and Kumho's
Top-tier: Goodyear Eagle F1, Pirelli P Zero, Dunlops

Drumuri bune !!!

Great value for money for the tread wear (softness). Nothing unusual for a trackday tire like this to need a bit of heat to really work but still decent enough dry grip when cool. Like another review states, they make a sound like a wheel bearing or rear diff has worn at motorway speeds 60/70mph. I was glad I found that review as it helped reassure me it was the tires and not something more expensive wrong with the car.
