“At first, these tires were pretty good. More uncomfortable than the typical tire but it is a run flat so that is expected. It's when I modified my car that these tires really had to go (ordering CSC7's). The car is...”
Bridgestone Potenza S001
Replaced by the Bridgestone Potenza Sport Replaces the Bridgestone Potenza RE050A
A sharp, sporty max-performance summer tire with strong dry grip and crisp control, but noticeably noisy and firm-riding. Wet confidence is variable by size and conditions, so it can feel brilliant in some setups and disappointing in others.

Bridgestone Potenza S001 Owner Reviews
Review this tireWhat owners say summarised from 140 reviews
Owner feedback on the Bridgestone Potenza S001 is mixed (64.5% average), with most agreement around strong dry grip and capable dry handling, but significant dissatisfaction in other areas. Around half of owners who mention it criticise wet grip, with some describing it as confidence-sapping or even dangerous in the rain, particularly as temperatures drop. Comfort and refinement are the biggest consistent drawbacks: roughly two in five report high road noise and around a third find the ride harsh. Tread life splits owners almost evenly, so longevity appears to depend heavily on car, setup and driving style.

“The tire is loud and wears terribly. I drive on the hiway to and from work. All the road is good, with one curve. They handle decently. Dry anyways. Wet, not so much. 15,000 miles and they’re worn out. It’s not a sporty...”
“Tire came with my Audi from factory and it as awesome. Lasted 5 summers - about 75k km. Drove across Europe, on autobahn and on Nirburgring. Will buy again this or the tire that replaced it - Potenza Sport - whichever I...”

The worst tires I ever had, I still cannot believe those are preferred on fast BMW, Audi and Porsche. Budget tires handle better in the wet. I went back to Michelin summer and Goodyear winter.

Initial Impressions74%Is a hard overall tire. Very good grip on the dry but need much time to warm. Very good handline, the steering well obeys immediately. So, hard tire = hard to wear. Three years with sporty driving on dry contitions, over than 40k kilometers and still alive. Wet grip it's not the best point of this tire. Looks nice till 120km/h but don't pushing more than 120 on wet contitions. About comfort. No, the point of this tire also isn't the comfortable. Very noisy on good roads, and very shaking on bumpy road.Yes i am very hapy about this tire for my personal use and i will buy it again

Decent tire in dry normal conditions. I had these on my 05 Subaru Impreza wrx, initially were grand in the summer, then any wet weather they are lethal! Couldn’t wait to get rid of them. I have them on a bmw 320d f31 now and the same problem, horrendous in the wet, back end will step out on roundabouts with normal driving and cornering. Cant wait to get back to PS5’s of Eagle F1 6’s the difference is night and day.

On the limit during a turn there's a sort of rubber band sendation felt through the steering wheel, it's really easy to tell when you're almost on the limit but that last 1% is super vague to me.
Very comfortable and soaks up small amplitude high frequency bumps very well.
It's surprisingly light, holding my old tire one one hand and this on the other it's pretty shocking the difference in weight.
It takes a while to load up on a corner but again once you're on it it communicates well until it gives up.
I'll update this review once I've driven it more.

Dry grip, braking and road feel are decent but a lot less capable than Michelin Pilot Sport 5.
Point and case, I've attended an all Miata track event where I managed to be a full 5s faster on a 2 minute track than the next ND3 MX-5 which was also a lot lighter since it was the soft top version and the driver was around 30kg lighter than me. Driving and track knowledge were not a factor since the other driver is arguably more experienced than I am when it came to that circuit and the definitive factor was the tire set.
Confort was quite poor. The MX-5 itself isn't the ride filtering vehicle but these tires didn't help. After exchanging them to the Michelin ones, the bump in confort was imense. It's likely the stiff sidewalls are the culprit.
The best and most surprising thing about the Bridgestone was wear. Even though the car was driven quite sporty most of the time, after 12-13k km usage, the rear tires only lost 4mm and the front 2mm. This was very unexpected and might be a definitive factor for a lot of people.
If living in a country with general good weather, with quality road infrastructure, this set should definitely shortlisted. Just be careful in the wet and don't hope for competitive results on track.

Wet grip is OK but not more than that. I will not buy them again.
They squeel and scream like hell while hard turning.
