205/45 17 Tire Review Highlights

Kumho Solus 4S HA32 rated 55% while driving a Nissan 2002 patrol
Driving on a combination of roads for 30000 average miles
A kind of double-faced tire, excellent in snow, average in dry conditions, and acceptable in wet conditions for the first two years... The third winter has been a pain on wet, acceptable in dry conditions, and still good in snow. Replaced after 48,000 km, the tread is still good, but grip (as mentioned) is terrible in wet conditions hence I rather move to new tires

Maxxis Victra Sport 5 rated 76% while driving a Mazda Demio Skyactiv
Driving on a combination of roads for 22500 spirited miles
Ive had these tires for 1 year now and after using them on a daily basis in my Mazda Demio (mazda 2 jdm variant) and driven around 30000-35000km on them honestly it was a blast. In the dry the grip is amazing, although in hot conditions it tends to wear out quick, even went to a track day where i did around 10-15 laps of testing the cars limit. In wet conditions they are also really good and live up to the rating as no matter how wet it is the grip is optimal to a certain point obviously and felt very safe. Cant tell you how smooth of a drive they are as i have aftermarket coilvers so any tire combination will feel stiff on bumps and potholes. Couple days ago (they were on their last 6k kilometres before being worn out completely) i popped them on a zig-zag road on a tiny pebble. So once these tires are on their last 10000km you should change them before you get left on the side of the road. Ive also noticed the outside of the tire got worn out faster than other areas of the tire, although the rims were always perfectly balanced, probably because of the heavy spirited driving. Other than that a pretty good clearance pick, as u can get michelin PS4/PS5s for a tiny amount more when you get fresh tires. In my case they were the last 4 tires and were heavily discounted, hence why i got them.

Laufenn S Fit EQ Plus rated 71% while driving a Nissan 2018 Note e power Nismo S
Driving on a combination of roads for 1000 spirited miles
I've been driving with the S Fit EQ+ for a while and to be honest for the price, I think it's a bargain! Not too sure about the longevity but changing from Yokohama ES32, I feel a significant improvement in my driving dynamics and my car feels more stable. Wet grip is pretty decent too. Only gripe is that the road noises are a bit louder and the tires feels a bit stiffer than required. But I'd say it's perfect for urban spirited driving with a hot hatch.

Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymmetric 6 rated 92% while driving a Ford Fiesta
Driving on a combination of roads for 500 spirited miles
I had to replace the summer tires on my Fiesta ST this year. Before I had the Pilot Sport 4 from factory and was not really satisfied with them on my car. Grip was good, but comfort was not great and the car tended to hop when the wheels where spinning on high load in low gear. Also on some bad highways I had similar problems with a bit of "hopping".
So I decided to get the AS6s as replacement mostly because of the good reviews they got and also the lower cost compared to michelins. And wow what a difference! The car feels more planted now and on heavy accelleration and the "hopping" is completely gone. Also the fuel economy is a bit better now. The grip on dry B-roads feels very good and you can push really hard. The Steering feels a bit softer compared to the PS4 and the initial steering response is not as sharp but still ok for me. This could also be caused by the higher tread of the new tires compared to the worn out michelins. In wet conditon the tire also feels really good and allways safe. But I did not really test the limit there so far.
The tires also look good on my car and the rim protection is quite thick.
All in all I am pretty satisfied with the tires and you should definitly consider them if you drive a sporty lightweight car with a bit of power.

Altenzo Sports Comforter rated 60% while driving a Kia Motors Rio
Driving on a combination of roads for 2000 average miles
Hi, I'm driving a Kia Rio 1.4 in Brunei. Considering its purpose as a cheap runabout I use budget tires. To my knowledge Ling Long Sports Master (55BND) and Altenzo Sports Comforter + (65BND) are quite popular for the particular tire size. I've used Ling Longs for 15,000KM and switched to Altenzo therefore I thought it's best to provide a comparison so it's easier for the budget minded individual (why else are you reading this??) to make a decision.

Dry Handling - the sidewalls are too soft in the altenzo and doesn't have stiff blocks in the tread. When you take a corner hard, you can feel the tires bend and hear them screech. Comparatively the Linglongs can hold a lot more lateral Gs without squealing. For example 80kmph max on Altenzo before understeering while linglongs can do same corner 100kmph. One good thing about Altenzo, it will screech before starting to understeer while Ling longs won't make any noise before giving up. Dry Grip, definitely Ling Long are better.

Dry Braking - Linglongs definitely felt better during hard braking with less squirming from the car. Brunei roads are quite uneven but still people drive 100kmph+. Ling Longs clearly better at keeping car stable while steerable under hard braking. But nothing wrong with Altenzo as long as you are not speeding.

Wet Handling - I'm not suicidal enough to push hard in corners in the wet with chinese made tires. Straight line though you still have the confidence to do 80kmph in the Altenzos and Linglongs but not more. Feedback (confidence) in the wet both are similar. Good enough for the law abiding citizen.

Wet Braking - No amount of redbull, midlife crisis or road rage will make me fully brake test in the wet. I wouldn't recommend you to either. Keep plenty of space with the vehicle in front. Same goes for Ling Longs.

Comfort - linglongs were very comfortable tires. The brunei road tarmac is super rough and noisy. When I bought the car it had semi worn bridgestone (damn good they were!) But they were super noisy. The linglongs were quiet and the ride became soft too. But believe me or not altenzo is even more quiet and comfortable. Definitely recommended for people looking for a quiet and comfy ride who doesn't seek corner thrills.

Wear - it's too early to tell. Linglongs lasted 15000km but judging by how the Altenzos look after 2000km, I think they will last longer. But this is just a guess.

Overall - I can cautiously recommend this tire to peeps who looking to just drive about in comfort for the lowest price and high durability(possibly). If you are looking to drive a bit sportier (in a rio really?) The linglongs are a better choice. But honestly speaking if you have the money, upgrade to mid range tires like GT Radial or Kumho as they would probably be safer in the wet. Good luck! Hope this helps.

Nankang Cross Seasons AW6 rated 92% while driving a Suzuki swift sport
Driving on a combination of roads for 1000 spirited miles
I have the set of NS2R for trackdays and I am very satisfied in general. I gave the chance for these all season nankang tires. Previously I had Hankook 4s2 and Bridgestone LM005. If I compare nankangs and hankoos, I have feeling that nankang is better in everything. It's maybe because I also changed the size from 205 40 r17 to 205 45 r17. Just handling is worse in compare with Hankooks. Basically Hankooks were more sporty and had more precise handling. And the price? Mind blowing. I rated the wear with 10 points because I don't need to have them 4-5 years. I prefer fresh tires. So for me it's more than enough.

Wet - almost no wheel spin and confident feeling (the car has 219HP and turbo kit from greddy :D)
Dry - very good but I miss the precession little bit
Snow - very good, maybe like some Matador or Barum winter tires
Ice - the same as on the snow

Accelera 651 Sport rated 60% while driving a MINI Cooper S
Driving on mostly country roads for 6300 spirited miles
As with all things each of us has different experiences. I bought these Accelera 651 Sports as the price was great. They went on my Mini Cooper S, 2006. Initially I thought they were very good. I bought them in January 2024 in the cold weather and they performed very well. The DOT put them at November 2023 so was happy there too.

Jump to 6 months later and they started to feel a little spongey. They were wearing quite a bit, I think they are a soft compound so fair enough but I was definitely not getting the handling I first had. Turn-in was slower. Once turned it kind of felt like the car moves a little and then grips. Jump to the next winter and the grip had disappeared to a frightening level in the cold. I get it's a summer tire but it was way better the previous Jan. Very slippy. Especially as I'm FWD. When my MOT came up the following January. Tires 12 months old and about 6300 miles, 14 from DOT I had advisories for the rubber perishing on all 4 tires. On looking myself I could really see it. That's 12 months and done. I won't personally buy these again. Maybe if you're going to the track and want something cheap to wear out in a day.

I've now just put 4 Eagle F1 Ass 6 on so fingers crossed.

Hankook Ventus V2 Concept 2 H457 rated 53% while driving a Mazda MX5
Driving on mostly town for 8000 average miles
They're pretty good in dry conditions for cheap tires but terrible on wet roads. If the road is any wetter than slightly damp my Mazda mx5 wants to slide all over going above 45mph which is not great in south Florida.

Continental ContiMaxContact MC6 rated 64% while driving a Honda City 1.5 VTI
Driving on a combination of roads for 30000 spirited miles
Used this for my Honda City (205/45/17) low profile.
Pros:
1. Grip is excellent and I feel confident with my car.
2. Sidewall appearance looks sporty
Cons:
1. BIGGEST CONS is it’s soft compound so it’s not durable at all. Chipped my sidewall easily when hitting a curb at very low speed ~10km/h and had it replaced (3years 30000km).
2. Quite noisy in my opinion with the low frequency sound from the road

Change from Hankook Ventus P4 to MC7. The biggest change is comfort..sidewall is soft and tire noise is reduce. Will review againt at its end life

Hankook Ventus Prime 4 rated 44% while driving a Volkswagen Polo Sedan 1.6
Driving on a combination of roads for 25000 average miles
Use almost 1 year (40000km). First 40% of tread life is good. Once reach 50% of tread, it start to deteriorated. End up swollen and had to replace it..this tire is not meant for heavy users.

I'm the type of person that always do alignment, balancing and rotate every 10k km. Always avoid potholes but still end up with swollen tires
