Laufenn S Fit EQ+

The new Laufenn S FIT EQ+ for the performance segment is equipped with an advanced Hydro-Flow block tread pattern which, together with its four straight main grooves and streamlined tread block arrangement effectively reduces aquaplaning. Furthermore, the use of an improved second-generation silica compound has led to a significant reduction in braking distance, especially on wet roads. The S FIT EQ+ also achieves optimised performance and good stability even at higher speeds thanks to reinforced tread bars which ensure greater block stiffness.

Scoring Process
  1. Collect Test Data: Gather results from professional tire tests across multiple publications. Minimum 1 test(s) required.
  2. Normalize Positions: Convert test positions to percentile scores using exponential weighting (factor: 1.2).
  3. Apply Recency Weighting: More recent tests are weighted higher with a decay rate of 0.95.
  4. Incorporate User Reviews: Factor in user review data (minimum 5 reviews). Weight: 15%.
  5. Bayesian Smoothing: Apply Bayesian prior (score: 7, weight: 1.5) to prevent extreme scores with limited data.
  6. Calculate Final Score: Combine all components using normalization factor of 1.1. Max score with limited data: 9.5.

Latest Tire Test Results
The Laufenn S Fit EQ+ LK01 is the budget offering from Hankook's sub-brand, and the results suggest it doesn't benefit enough from that connection. Its worst result is wet braking, where it records the longest stopping distance of all ten tires - a significant safety concern. On the wet handling circuit it can't hold the intended line through faster corners, running wide and requiring the driver to back off. On the positive side, it does signal its grip limits progressively rather than breaking away without warning, so there is at least some predictability. On dry roads the tire manages passable results, though braking distances are again on the long side and steering precision is mediocre. It ties for the lowest pass-by noise in the test, which is a genuine strength, but the ride is spoiled by a slightly uneven rolling quality that undermines what is otherwise a soft and comfortable basic character. Tread life prediction is below average and abrasion is high. The low purchase price is attractive, but the wet braking deficit is too large to overlook.
12th/52
The Laufenn S Fit EQ+ offered good aquaplaning reserves, balanced handling behavior, quiet rolling noise at 74.0 dB, and good overall comfort. With one of the lowest purchase prices in the test at €288, it represents good value for budget-conscious drivers. Its slightly restricted mileage of 31,080 kilometers was its main drawback, though its low purchase price helped maintain reasonable cost performance at €9.27 per 1000 kilometers. The tire delivered particularly good dry handling for its price point, achieving a "satisfactory" rating.

Given 71% while driving a Nissan 2018 Note e power Nismo S (205/45 R17) on a combination of roads for 1,000 spirited miles
I've been driving with the S Fit EQ+ for a while and to be honest for the price, I think it's a bargain! Not too sure about the longevity but changing from Yokohama ES32, I feel a significant improvement in my driving dynamics and my car feels more stable. Wet grip is pretty decent too. Only gripe is that the road noises are a bit louder and the tires feels a bit stiffer than required. But I'd say it's perfect for urban spirited driving with a hot hatch.

Given 93% while driving a Audi A4 Avant B9 (225/45 R17) on a combination of roads for 15,000 average miles
What great tires these are. I have done 15000 miles on these from spring until autumn. Wear is down to 3.5mm now so these tires will do about 18 to 20000 miles. Through out the mpg has been great getting 53 to 60 mpg on longer runs. Drove in all conditions and the tires have never let me down. You would not know these are budget tires at all, I can't tell the difference, if I had to compare them to a branded tire I would say very similar to continental tires. Once the tires wear down to half way they do seem to wear faster. Overall very impressive, got another set on a 3.0 tdi audi a5 and just as amazing and very comfortable to drive on. I didn't know they were made by hankok and will definitely buy them next year. It's time to go back to all season tires and it won't be michelin. Happy driving

Given 96% while driving a Audi a5 3.0 tdi quattro sport (255/35 R19) on a combination of roads for 2,000 average miles
This review is for the Z FIT EQ, these tires are a real find. They are excellent in the wet and dry. They are laufenns UHP performance tire. No understeer or oversteer with these having solid sidewalls and give you total confidence to drive your car in any situations you come across. Really comfortable ride in the car and excellent mpg. People think that economy tires are not safe but all tires sold in the UK have to meet British standards. 7.5 mm of tread depth and good rim protection make these brilliant!

Just had them fitted on my Polo 1.0 TSI and they are amazing! This is a good year/conti level tire at a much lower price, the car feels like it did when it was new on the Falkens it left the showroom floor with

Given 91% while driving a Audi A4 Avant B9 (225/50 R17) on a combination of roads for 509 average miles
These tires when brand new come with 7.6mm of tread unlike some well known brands that come with 6.5mm. Compared with the michelin crossclimate 2 which I have just taken off I am getting the same mpg which shows they have a good rolling resistance. Plenty of grip in both the wet and dry. I am going to use these all summer and report back later in the year. Don't be fooled into buying branded tires when you can get good tires like these at a fraction of the price. I do recommend these

Using this S Fit EQ+ for last 2 years, this new brand are not familiar but Hankook do the good job for cheaper price. It has good traction on the dry road but less on the wet, but i appreciate with the comfort and road noise reduction. Maybe we must have attention with the side wall are not too firm

Given 97% while driving a SEAT (195/55 R15) on a combination of roads for 2,500 average miles
I am a loyal customer of Nexen NBlue HDplus tires (soft, quiet and comfortable, affordable). This time I urgently needed 2 tires for the front axle. I chose Laufenn S FIT EQ+ ...and I did not regret it. For some amount, they are cheaper than Nexen, they are only slightly harder and have stronger walls. The noise in the cabin is not greater, at least for now. Nice grip on the road. Placed before leaving for Greece on vacation. Traveled 3,500 km so far and I can say that they are a pleasant surprise. When I drove alone, I pushed them almost to the limit, everything was ok. Laufenns are the Hankook group, their factory is in Indonesia, and these mine are Made in Hungary, their Hungarian branch and that is good, I prefer EU tires. So, tires that withstand several days of torture at +40 degrees Celsius. The price was around 47 euros per piece. Dimensions 195-55-R15, 85V.

Given 90% while driving a Ford Fiesta mk7 (225/45 R17) on a combination of roads for 0 spirited miles
These tires are my best positive surprise of the year, although driven only couple of hundreds of km since new. Dry grip and handling is great, wet - good enough. Great feedback. Unfortunately one tire has a hump (consumer complaint). I have direct comparison with Toyo TR1 and Vredestein Sportrac 5 (same size, same car, same conditions). Dry grip and especially traction of Laufenns is light-years ahead of Vreds. TR1 are very close to S FIT EQ+ with regard to grip and traction (TR1 may be a bit better, maybe due to EQ+ being too new), but TR1 seem to wear on eyes...
