225/50 R17 Tires

lots of airborne tire noise, but little pattern noise. bumps feel defined (I mean that in a bad way). the tires directs any road imperfection and texture directly into the subframe making the car feel really unrefined and buzzy. tread life and mpg was fairly good though as this was an OEM tire. tire was replaced after 18000 miles because I didn't want to handle it anymore. I do not recommend this tire to anyone.

Compared to its predecessor Falken AS210 it is more comfty and especially in the wet much more quieter. The overall handling is superb for an All Season tire, with a very good feedback in the steering. We didn't have much snow last winter so I searched for snowed in roads and I had no reasons to complain. Also the tire is highly resistant to aquaplaning.The tire bead acts as a good rim protection strip. My car is an Opel (Vauxhall) Zafira C, model 2017 and this tire fits the character of the car perfectly. The wear seems to be a bit higher, compared to the Falken, which did over 37.200 miles. But overall I would always prefere the Maxxis. I can highly recommend this tire for touring cars because of comfort, noise and overall grip and the price is fair. I lack some more experience in snow but until yet I'm very happy with this tire.

An update on my Petlas Velox Sport. I am now at 41k km and they have started to break down and cause a steering vibration past 90 km/h! i have rotated and balanced all 4 tires and i still have a little bit of vibration on 90 - 130 km/h, the tires shop told me they are starting to become out of round but the tread is very little worn and the grip in the dry and wet is still very good. Will probably replace them soon and try out the new model that replaces velox sport.

I have driven these tires in wet and dry, bumpy country side and highways, city commuting, you name it. Dry grip and braking are very good and predictable, a bit lower than Pirrelli 6000 and Michelin Primacy, to be honest. On wet surfaces this tire punches above its weight, gives You a bit more confidence than You should have. A bit better than Kleber Dynaxer HP4, and less progressive, but still much, much better than similar budget tires. Noise is quite low, suits the big soft C5, but I wouldn't mind a bit more feedback. I am on 12.000 miles in 2 years and I see no signs of premature or excessive wear. Maybe it wears faster than previous models, but I think it will reach 30.000 miles no problem. Given the price tag at 55% of Yokohama BE, and 75% of Lassa Rev, I see this as really big bang for the buck.

Just by doing the math today after your email I realised I did 42380 km / 26333 miles on these Viking Protech Newgen for summer driving. Tires are great for their value paid back ini 2023 of around 300 EUR. Running them on BMW E60 520d automatic 177 bhp. Still good tread on them.

These tires are actually dangerous. They have basically zero grip on dry roads. They don't even have enough grip to activate my ABS they just slide on dry pavement, its 10x worse in the rain. Cornering at normal speeds and the tires start screaming like they are at edge of their grip. I drive a WRX and these tires have seriously handicapped the car. These tires take confidence away from you. A 9 year old set of Hankook's had easily 2x the grip in wet and dry condition. THese are dangerous tires and I cannot recommend them to anyone, I will feel bad when I sell them because they are so dangerous.
