Continental Eco Contact 5
WatchThe Continental EcoContact 5 is a premium summer touring tire that prioritises efficiency, and it largely delivers on low rolling resistance and fuel economy. Across both driver feedback and independent tests it can feel confident and predictable in everyday dry driving, with dry grip and braking often praised for an eco-focused tire. However, its performance is more mixed in the wet, where aquaplaning resistance and colder/wetter traction are recurring concerns, especially as tire sizes and demands increase.

Questions and Answers for the Continental Eco Contact 5
Ask a questionIs this tire suitable for Indian Roads?!
I have purchased continental eco 5 tires in Islamabad Pakistan last week which are brand new but their make is 2017. Is these tires shelf life expired? And how much performance efficiency left in January 2021.
Review Summary
Based on 74 user reviews
Driver feedback on the Continental EcoContact 5 is mixed overall. Many higher-scoring reviews praise its low rolling resistance/fuel economy, strong dry grip and braking, and in some cases excellent longevity. However, a large share of mid/low scores report poor wet and cold-weather traction (including aquaplaning and winter use), along with frequent complaints about road noise on coarse surfaces and a soft/vague sidewall feel that reduces steering precision.
Strengths
- Excellent fuel economy / low rolling resistance
- Strong dry grip and braking for an eco tire
- Often long-lasting tread life when used in mostly dry/mild conditions
- Generally stable
- Predictable handling for normal driving
Areas for Improvement
- Weak wet/cold-weather grip (wheelspin
- Understeer) and aquaplaning sensitivity
- Noticeable road noise on certain coarse/rough road surfaces
- Soft sidewalls leading to vague steering response and reduced feedback
- Tread life can be poor/inconsistent for some vehicles and driving styles
