Skoda Octavia Tire Review Highlights
Writing about the Continental WinterContact TS 870 given 80% (225-45-17)
Got these tires on a used car about 1 year old some wear but not too much. Did quite some highway driving in central/southeast Europe with decent amount of rain during autumn and winter and occasional snowfall. If the rain was not pouring at 150 kph I had full confidence in the tire. Snow grip is quite good, had a lot of confidence both on highway at around 80-90 kph and in town driving around the streets. Did some spirited driving on the backroads here and there just for fun, not pushing it to the limit, didn't feel sporty, but there was enough grip to have a bit of fun. I would say that wear affected the tire's performance quite gradually. As for comfort and noise levels, the tire is little bit noisy but it is certainly not severe. Wear seems to be quite good, this was their fourth "winter" season during which the temperatures are mostly higher than 7 degrees celsius and it's still few millimeters above the snowflake wear indicator.

Got these tires on a used car about 1.5 year old some wear but not too much. I have driven an other car with the same tire model so I had a lot of confidence in the tire. Did quite some highway driving in central/southeast Europe with decent amount of rain during spring and summer (I had winter tires). If the rain was not pouring at 150 kph I had full confidence in the tire. Did some spirited driving on the backroads here and there just for fun, not pushing it to the limit, didn't feel sporty, but there was enough grip to have a bit of fun. I could say that during that spirited driving I would have expected a little bit more feedback from the tires but then again I was not driving a sporty car and I don't have a reference tire at this point. At the very end of life of the tire I had only one somewhat unpleasant experience when I hit a puddle of water at 130ish kph and had just a hint of felling that I do not have control of the car but the car kept it's course so no harm was done. I would say that wear affected the tire's performance quite gradually As for comfort and noise levels, nothing out of the ordinary as it's not the most important aspect of a tire for me.

Writing about the Kumho Ecsta HS52 given 94% (195-65-15)
Coming from Lassa Greenways, this is a definite improvement in all categories, the tire feels very direct with a nice bite into the corners. It has incredible road feedback giving you a lot of confidence. As for comfort it's not all that noisy, especially compared to the Lassa's, as for comfort they are a bit hard though not annoyingly so.
Some reviews say that they feel a bit of an imbalance when doing 110-130km/h and I can confirm got that as well, though it did clear up as they are driven(broken in).
You do feel the bumps and imperfections in the road a lot(but Bulgarian roads are harsh no matter the tire really).

First impressions are that this tire is definitely worth the money, especially for the price point they are at, 50 euro a tire is incredible.

Been driving them mostly on country roads and highways, for the amount of kilometers I've put in and for the price of the tires I would definitely not buy them again. Right now they go for about 50-60 euros a tire which for that amount of money you can get a tire of a completely different class.

Dry grip was alright, but the comfort was nowhere they were super noise especially at 120km/h+ you would need to scream to hear anyone else.
Wet grip was not there though, at 80km/h a lot of the corners the rear of the car would slip especially after two seasons of use.
Stopping distance for both dry and wet was awful as well.

For the wear, after around 55000km they still had some life in them, but micro cracks started to appear on the inner side near the rim.

Just switched them for Kumho HS52 and so far, the kumhos are a way better tire compared to the Lassa's while the kumhos are also cheaper by around 2 euros.

If any tire shop recommends the Lassa's as a "cheap" alternative just run away from there.

Skoda Octavia 205/55 R16 about 25,000km.

On dry roads, the tires grip the road well, acceleration, braking, quick changes of direction do everything without problems.
You know exactly what happens under the tires on dry roads.

On snow, like a good winter tire, while on ice it is difficult to drive, but all tires are like that on ice.

On wet roads, I have no confidence in the tires, I have the impression that they will slide off the road at any moment, although I drive without problems, but there is no feedback from the tires about what is happening on a wet road.
I had no problems on wet roads, but I don't like that feeling of insecurity.

The noise above 130km/h increases drastically, but that is because of the V profile of the tires, and in a better car, the tires would probably be less noisy.

So I drove 25,000km on all surfaces and I had no problems, not once with these tires.

I've had now 2 sets altogether of this type, love them, bought them since 2020 and Jonathan tested them in 2021. I once changed for Kumho 4S but didn't like their wet performance.
The Nexen's last about 32000 miles, they're quiet, perform well in all circumstances and are budget-priced.
The only disadvantage might be the feedback of the tire which is a bit vage if you conform it to summier tires.

Not so much grip on wet, and not so comfortabile tire on bad roads...
Noise and stability is very good on high speed on highway even in flatout on the autobahn. When tires are heated up on road, they get much better for driving...

One of my worst experiences is with these winter tires. They have no grip in rain or snow, I just slide around, but we hardly slow down at all. Even in dry conditions, they are one of the worst winter tires I have ever used. I have them on my company car, I would never buy them for private use, and our company avoids this brand because of complaints from others. They are not much cheaper than tires from better-known tire manufacturers, and a few euros could save lives. Everyone who has driven and used them so far has complained about them!

Please, if your life is important to you, don't buy this tire. Its only advantage is that it's comfortable.

Driving on a combination of roads for 2000 spirited miles
Best summer tires i have driven . On my FWD 200 Hp Octavia i just cant manage to make them slip in the dry (only launch control manages to make them squeak) and in the wet they are absolutely exemplary . better then the benchmark pilot sport 4s in pretty much everyting . maybe Pirreli PZero PZ5 can beat them by small margin in some categiries or some sizes but on my 225/40 R18 they are incredible and cheaper then michelin or pirreli .

Writing about the Sailun Atrezzo ZSR2 given 59% (225-50-17)
Driving on a combination of roads for 10000 average miles
I bought a used Skoda Octavia MK4 last summer. The car came with seemingly brand new Sailun Atrezzo ZSR2 tires in 225/50/17 size and XL load rating.
I have now reached the end of useful life for those tires and review my experience with them.

The tires have excellent grip in braking and handling on dry surfaces. I rarely managed to lose traction and if that happened I really needed to thrash on them.
I also rate wet grip as excellent.
The tires were also comfortable and absorbed bumps quite nicely. Noise was not noticeable until the end of the tire life, the worn down rear tires started humming a little of smooth road surfaces. Comfort was ok, but I rated comfort down due to the next paragraph.

Handling wise the tires are not that good. The fact that they don't lose grip is great but they do not give good confidence since the sidewalls are absolutely too soft. The car acted in such a way I was already considering upgrading shocks and springs since it handled like a boat. Bumpy roads and corners felt downrights scary. So I adjusted my speeds and took everything nice and slow, like a grandpa going to church on Sunday.

Luckily the tires wore out and I replaced them with Kumho Ecsta PS72 tires. Wow, what a difference. I do not need to change suspension after all, but that's a story for a different review.

Wear... I have never seen tires wear out so quickly. I mention buying a used car with seemingly brand new tires. I do not know the mileage these tires travelled before me but I only got 16 353 kilometres out of these tires over 2 summer seasons. They can not have had travelled more than few thousand miles, they did look absolutely brand new. After the first summer season tires were rotated to allow for more even wear. This spring as summer tires were installed they had evenly 4.5-5mm of tread left. This got worn down to legal limit in 8622 km of calm easy driving. The ones that were more worn were REARs. Front tires still had some mileage left but I never unmatch my tires. Due to the quick wear and scary wallowy handling I did not want to purchase these tires again.

So there we go. Decent tires, somewhat okay price ( new Kumhos were acutally same price as Sailuns in my area ) but they wear out very quickly.
