Nankang Sportnex AS2+
Replaced by the Nankang Sportnex AS3 Replaces the Nankang AS2
The Nankang Sportnex AS2 Plus is a mid-range Ultra High Performance summer tire that stands out chiefly for value and reassuring wet-weather stability for the money. Drivers often report confident dry road manners and surprisingly strong rain performance, while independent tests repeatedly highlight excellent aquaplaning resistance and respectable noise/efficiency. The trade-off is a less competitive performance ceiling versus premium rivals, particularly when it comes to outright grip and stopping distances.

2022 Tire Reviews UUHP Summer Tire Test P5 of 10
The Nankang Sportnex AS-2+ punched above its price category, beating the more established brands of Kumho and Toyo. The tire might not have been the most dynamic in the dry, but it performed well in all the wet testing and had good levels of comfort, low noise, and low rolling resistance. The AS2+ does seem more comfort than performance bias, but it's still an impressive set of results for the price point.

Nankang Sportnex AS2+ Owner Reviews
Review this tireWhat owners say summarised from 27 reviews
Drivers describe the Nankang Sportnex AS2 Plus as a strong value-for-money UHP tire, with many higher-scoring reviews praising confident dry handling and particularly impressive wet grip for the price. Comfort and cabin noise are often rated as acceptable to good, though experiences vary by vehicle and setup. The most consistent drawback is short tread life/fast wear, with multiple users reporting the tire wearing out far sooner than expected; a smaller but notable group also report higher noise, tramlining, or weaker wet/cold traction.

I've been driving these tires on my BMW 530d F11 2016 with 285/30-20 on the rears and 245/35-20 on the front.
Stage 1 tuned ~ 320hp & 650Nm.
For the starters, they are really good for daily driving.
My driving route is almost only highway and country road, yes I do some spirited/sporty driving time to time.
At very high speed you do feel that walls are bit soft, especially in the corners. Other then that, the overall grip is more than ok.
Been testing these on almost every conditions cold weather (except snow), summer, spring, fall and heavy rain weather.
The dry grip is good for commuting, as mentioned above they are bit soft at high speed.
The wet grip is one of the points were these tires suprise me for the price. Been on roadtrip in Norway were the weather was raining constantly and on the serpentine roads while playing with other cars, the grip is actally good.
The handling and feedback is good as long you don't drive them hard.
Noise and consumption:
Noise wise, they are not super loud, still comfortable but they have tendency to "hum" a bit when they are worn out.
Consumption: the rolling resistance is a highlight, for commuting they are perfect. Consumption numbers with these has been a pleasure.
The downside is wear/tread life.
That is the only one is thing about these tires that are big disappointment.
Manage to get out only ~ 35000km / 21700 miles and the rears are slick. And I only have them for 2 years. The front howevers have some life left, like 3-3,5mm maybe?
Since I have xDrive / AWD / 4WD, I have to replace all 4.
I do wheel alignment every 1-2 years depends on where I driving so I'm sure that the alignment is not the problem here. I do drive with 3 bars on the rears and 2.8 at the front since is a heavy car.
Maybe this is the price of buying a bit cheaper tires but Nankang according to my research use to have good tread life in general.
Because of tread life, I'm not sure if I will buy these again but I've been happy with these in general for what it cost.

While ultimately these tires did not give any trouble and appeared to be value for money at around 77% of the cost of the previous choice (Vredestein Ultrac Vorti) I would not purchase Nankang again as they offered less value per mile, i.e. covered only approx 72% of the mileage (22,500 versus 31,300 miles) before wearing down to the 2mm treadwear gauge.

Purchased in January 23 for my BMW 520d. Car is used for commuting, never really driven hard as its not quick, but found they wore out fairly quickly after doing around 10,000 miles.
I did suspect this when I took delivery and saw the treadwear rating. I'm sure the trade-off would be better on a car driven more spiritedly, but for the daily commute, I think I will be looking for an alternative.

I was pretty disappointed in these initially; they seemed to have no bite in corners and felt very vague.
After a few months of wearing in I can only assume they have some camber wear on them now. The performance of these tires now is absolutely stunning for the price, easily punching close to PS4s performance. The feedback from them is great but they do ride a little harsh compared to the Conti.

My driving is on a mix of regional roads and motorways with a bit of occasional spirited driving thrown in. I average about 600 miles/week.
Positives: The grip once these tires get warm is very impressive. I can chuck my car around corners with confidence, braking is nice. Weight of the steering is perfect for me.
Wet grip is excellent, I can drive through standing water without aquaplaning at all.
Wear seems to be alright 5000 miles in. I have proper alignment/camber and it’s worn the inside a bit more than I would have liked, but it’s still fairly good.
Negatives: The biggest problem I have is the road noise. On anything other than a billiards table it is just ridiculously loud. It seems to be a bit higher pitch than other tires I’ve had, which just adds to the annoyance. Transmits every little crack on the road into the cabin. I actually thought my suspension top mounts were the issue and took them out to check - nope, it’s 100% the tires.
Tires seem to tramline and follow any divets in the road very easily so you have to pay attention on backroads or roads lorries use a lot.
The initial turn in of the car seems a bit dulled but once loaded up the feedback is decent.
Cold performance is a bit sketchy. Definitely would not chance using them too late into Autumn.
