Methodology & Configuration
Scoring Process
  1. Collect Test Data: Gather results from professional tire tests across multiple publications. Minimum 1 test(s) required.
  2. Normalize Positions: Convert test positions to percentile scores using exponential weighting (factor: 1.2).
  3. Apply Recency Weighting: More recent tests are weighted higher with a decay rate of 0.95.
  4. Incorporate User Reviews: Factor in user review data (minimum 5 reviews). Weight: 15%.
  5. Bayesian Smoothing: Apply Bayesian prior (score: 7, weight: 1.5) to prevent extreme scores with limited data.
  6. Calculate Final Score: Combine all components using normalization factor of 1.1. Max score with limited data: 9.5.

The Nexen N'Blue S proves to be a cost-effective option with some standout performance characteristics. Most notably, it dominates the straight aquaplaning test with a significantly higher float speed (76.7 km/h) than its competitors and places second in curved aquaplaning resistance. The tire also features good efficiency with the third-best rolling resistance result (6.04 kg/t). However, the Nexen shows clear compromises in subjective assessments, ranking last in subjective dry handling feel (5.7 points). Its wet and dry braking performances are adequate but unexceptional, placing mid-pack. At €253, the N'Blue S represents the best value option in the test for price-conscious buyers, particularly those in rainy climates where its excellent aquaplaning resistance would be beneficial, though its handling feel limitations are evident compared to premium offerings.

Top 3 Nexen N Blue S Reviews

Given 54% while driving a Honda Civic 1.8 5 door (205/55 R16) on a combination of roads for 6,000 average miles
I drive ~36k miles per year. A bit vague but progressive. Soft sidewalls so quiet and comfortable. Decent grip wet and dry but nothing special. Less than 6k miles mileage on a 2007 civic so poor in that regard. I got 12k out of some goodyears on a heavier car with same size tires for comparison but I didn't check tread depth when new so possibly they come with less tread to improve fuel efficiency rating (a trick). Won't buy again as the price is barely cheaper than some decent Goodyear or Falken.

Given 71% while driving a Volkswagen Golf Mk 8 Life Plus (205/55 R16) on mostly motorways for 15,000 spirited miles
This tire came with my golf 8 car as an OEM tire. Quite silent tire but they dont absorb shocks well. Good grip on dry conditions, but not performing good overall on wet conditions. Wear seems to be higher that the previous tires I have owned (conti pct7 & primacy 4). I think I will not buy them again, but it is not that bad, I think I will use them up to 40.000 kms.

Given 59% while driving a Audi A3 (205/55 R16) on mostly town for 18,700 average miles
The Audi Only version on a A3 30Tfsi was good for dry conditions, efficient and quiet. BUT it was completely destroyed after 30k km of mild city driving, down to the safety marks and with huge chunks of tread missing. Shame on Audi for using this as an OEM tire.

Given 89% while driving a Volkswagen Golf mk5 (205/55 R16) on for 20,000 miles
I have used this tyer for city driving and long trips. Driving always over speed limits. It is pleasure to drive it. It is not sporty tyer but it is very very good for the price U can get it. I am driving in the city where is always raining so this tyer was best chose for low price. Very good wet braking and cornering. It gives U feeling it is better on wet than on dry road.
