As usual with ADAC tests, the results are based on pure data with no subjective scoring included. The tests are weighted in favor of wet performance, which is awarded 40% of the overall score. 20% of the overall result is given to the dry weather tests, 10% of the weighting is based on how noisy / comfortable the tires are, a further 10% is based on the rolling resistance of the tire and 20% of the overall result is based on the wear. Please note this can affect our totalling, so it's best to study the individual category scores to help you chose a tire based on performance qualities you find important.
It's worth noting that the worth tire in this test, the Infinity INF030, actually had the best wear scores, but was commented as being dangerous in the wet, further proving tires are a balance of different performance criteria and budget tires struggle to provide a good balance.

Why is the Goodyear 6th when it has the same score as the Michelin?
Most likely based on the score weighting of each result.
two things surprise me
the ecocontact 5, though sound in the wet, is beaten by quite a few tires (i expected it to be class-leading) and moreover, these include two tires that are generally noted as poor in the wet - michelin energy and pirelli p1. the michelin "best in wet" result astonishes me; perhaps they were frightened by the compulsory labelling reulations and changed their compound.
The Michelin Energy Saver has seemed to gone through a number of updates recently... unfortunately we've heard nothing from Michelin to confirm that.
