215/45 17 Tire Review Highlights

Achilles ATR Sport rated 42% while driving a BMW 330xi
Driving on mostly motorways for 2000 spirited miles
OK tires in the dry, decent grip and feedback but nothing extraordinary or impressive by any means. Absolutely abysmal in the rain, no grip anywhere and very prone to hydroplaning. I was given a set of wheels with these, and I would not purchase them if they weren't given to me for free. Would not recommend this tire overall to anyone who values their life or the life of their passengers in any wet conditions. Better tires out there for your money. Overall a very average tire in the dry, and a deadly tire in the rain.

Continental WinterContact TS 870 rated 90% while driving a SEAT Ibiza 1.0 TSI 115
Driving on mostly country roads for 6200 average miles
This was my first winter on these tires. They replaced the Conti Winter Contact 850P, that lasted 5 winters and nearly 50000 km on italian country roads. I hadn't had the chance to drive on snow and ice during last winter, so I can't say anything about it.
I can say that 870 are more sport tourer oriented than the 850P and have a very good progressiveness. As for the previous 850P, on dry surfaces the grip is good, on wet the grip is excellent, wear is really good as well as fuel consumption. The price is quite high but Continental Winter tires are always worthy from my experience. Comfort: the sidewall is a little bit stiffer than 850P, a very little noise on wet surface can be noticed. I would recommend these tires.

Soo, i have the tire for 2000km and so far i am very impresed with grip in wet and dry, before it warms up is bad but after the rubber becomes sticky and unstopable (i always smell burning rubber when i park my car), but the tires have a problem, outer sides are almost gone after 2000km and i eat tham down to the name of the tire, sidewalls are to soft (this are not XL) you can see it on the picture after the first day of use the tire had used marks just above the writing "EAGLE F1" and dont tell me i dont put enaugh pressure in becaus i put more than recomended, and the feedback and dynamic feel compared to Yokohoma Advant Fleva v701 is nonexistant until the tires are pushed well than in that area thay provide good feedback and overall operation, comfort is way better tham Yokohamas, also corner grip is way ahead Of Yokohama tires i used before, one more BIG p
PROBLEM in temperatures between 0-25°c thay work good, but after outside temps reach 30-35°c+ the tire become like a chewing gum and its terible, i enjoy tham alot more on the wet than dry

Hankook Ventus Prime 4 rated 90% while driving a Alfa Romeo 156 GTA
Driving on a combination of roads for 1000 spirited miles
The best summer tire I drove was the Continental premium contact. And I wanted to try something different, and I need to say that I didn't regret, hankook ventus prime 4 is very good replacement. I am more than satisfied, and I would recommend that tire.
Thanks

Soo i come back, with a tire review after 15000km. My reviewed might be more negative about handling and more positive about wear as i put them on in October and did most driving while road conditions got worse and worse so less grip less wear keep that in mind. The tire was great, comfort gets better as the tires break-in not over bumps but in the corners when you corner really hard at 140kmh they make some vibrating noise witch slowly goes away in few thousand kilometers but not completely, they have about 3mm still left on them its amazing how slowly they wear, and evenly as the manufacturer sayed, my car have a lot of camber specially on the back but the tires wear completely evely only the outside tire is very slowly fading away, i run them with 2.80-3bar in them and i have put them front to back at 7000km and i could feel the difference how the rear lost some grip mabey not the grip but the sharpness, some goes now with the front yesterday i tried doing circles and "8" shaped cornes from left to right without any electric control and i did a lot of wear to outside tires as traction control was not on and on the front i can definitely feel how they lost sharpens Maybe also some grip in the wet, i am angry at myself but those 5minutes were really enjoyable, this tires are very squealy so the noise is definitely not the limit indicator but they reach and go over the limit very progressively with good feedback you can go over the limit all day and remain comfortable in the tire, the grip is almost the same in dry and wet maybe not now in the colder temperatures wet road is very slippery many days.. and they deform a lot under extreme load yesterday my friend watching me stopped me after i got a handle of limits because he saved my rims almost touched the floor so yeah this shows the grip is definitely there even in the wet but you can feel is going down with the wear of the tire. I am recommending this tires to everyone who drives spiritually, also normally but the comfort factor may make normal drivers choose something else, for the money 108€ with work they are very good but not the best.

Continental EcoContact 6 rated 57% while driving a Suzuki Vitara 2015>
Driving on mostly country roads for 20000 average miles
Not so good overall. Wet grip very bad, dry grip just ok. Traveled 20000km with Vitara 1.6 120HP. You can feel the lack of contact area with the road. All those eco tires have deep treads and smaller amount or just smaller blocks. Those tires came with the new car when I bought it and at 10.000km I wanted to sell them and buy Sava Intensa UHP because it is much better tire for less money, but noone would buy used ecocontact, at least noone who knows a bit or two about tires. Since they were like new I left them and drove more and after aditional 10k they stil looked like new, so if you want a tire for life, go ahead and buy ecocontact, if you want grip, avoid them.

Pirelli Dragon Sport rated 60% while driving a Honda 2004 Integra
Driving on a combination of roads for 1000 spirited miles
These shouldn't be marketed as a sports tire. They're a replacement to the P1 Cinturato - a passenger tire.

They're cheap for Pirellis and seem like a good deal for an entry level performance tire. They're not performance focused though. Front end grip is not strong, heavily understeer biased, steering is a little sloppy due to softish sidewalls. At least they're safe dynamically at their low limits. Wet performance fine.

The reality is these should never have been called Dragon Sport - They're most like am entry level touring tire from any of c the major brands - which checks out when you look at the price.

If you want an entry level performance tire just get RE003 or Michilin Pilot Sport instead. Even tires like the Dunlop FM800, which is similarly priced but marketed more as a Touring tire - has a more sporty handling characteristic than the Dragon Sport.

Falken Azenis FK510 rated 56% while driving a Hyundai Coupe 2.0L
Driving on a combination of roads for 10 spirited miles
Do not buy this tire or ANY hard compound tire if you drive a Hyundai Coupe, especially a TSIII with factory lowered suspension, you will feel every single imperfection in the road and the ride comfort is absolutely abysmal. This car cannot handle hard compound tires, fit a soft compound like Bridgestone Turanza.

Laufenn S Fit AS rated 74% while driving a Honda Civic 1.8
Driving on mostly town for 28000 average miles
I've used it around June 2022 and by Jan 2024, 2 front tire got sidewall, one of it was just give minor sign. My first impression first time using it, was quite good, the noise was minimal, the dry&wet grip was also above than average, which I was pretty happy. The downside is only its lifespan. it's pretty quick for me, as this tires just rolling around 45000km only, most of the time using normal city road, maybe normal city road in Malaysia quite rough for it.
