Falken Wildpeak AT4W - Launched

One of the most popular all terrain tires on the market, the Falken Wildpeak A/T3W, has just been replaced by the Falken Wildpeak A/T4W, and it looks to be an exciting update!

With the A/T3W being such a popular tire, Falken have smartly decided to go with an evolution rather than revolution. This means Falken have kept what we love about the all terrain tire, such as the excellent wet grip, and the snow performance of the tire, and added where they believe customers will get the most benefit - even more off-road ability and another 15,000 miles on the tread life warranty, totalling 65,000 miles!

Falken also claim the new A/T4W has better dry handling AND improved comfort when compared to the A/T3W, an impressive combination, all while retaining the 3 peak mountain snowflake symbol rating which means it's been tested to meet the severe snow rating benchmark.

Naturally here at Tire Reviews we're planning to be one of the first publications to test it, but for now, here's more information from the press release. Be sure to stay tuned for the full test!

More information

Following the remarkable success of the Wildpeak A/T3W, Falken Tires, a branch of Japan's Sumitomo Rubber Industries, has proudly unveiled its latest all-terrain tire innovation: the Wildpeak A/T4W.

The Wildpeak A/T4W, a versatile tire designed for varied terrains from rugged backcountry paths to smooth highways, ensures superior performance in any setting. Certified with the 3PMSF (Three-Peak Mountain Snow Flake) symbol, it's specially tailored for extreme winter environments, boasting full-depth sipes for consistent traction throughout the tire's lifespan.

"With the monumental success of our A/T3W, setting a higher bar for the A/T4W was a formidable task," stated Rick Brennan, Vice President of Strategic Planning at Falken. "Years of meticulous development have culminated in the launch of the Wildpeak A/T4W, a product we are excited to bring to our customers. Enhanced with a longer mileage warranty and superior towing capacity, we've evolved our best-seller to a new level of excellence."

The Wildpeak A/T4W is engineered with staggered shoulder blocks and select sizes feature Falken's advanced 3-ply DURASPEC Sidewall Technology, ensuring robustness and reliability in all terrains. This technology, shared with Falken's Wildpeak R/T and M/T tires, provides exceptional resistance to extreme off-road conditions. While certain sizes of the A/T4W include the DURASPEC 3-ply sidewall construction, other sizes are equipped with a two high-ply turn-up construction for additional protection.

Tsuyoshi Johnson, Director of Product Planning at Falken, explained, "Our aim was to retain the core qualities that defined the Wildpeak A/T3W's success. The tread pattern mirrors its predecessor, with a familiar sidewall appearance. However, we've introduced enhancements like a new rubber compound, increased tread rigidity, and the addition of Heavy Duty LT-rated sizes to elevate our all-terrain capabilities."

The Wildpeak A/T4W, with its enhanced tread rigidity and introduction of Heavy Duty LT-rated sizes, promises a superior towing experience over the A/T3W. "We're aware of the high anticipation for this tire among our customers," Brennan added. "We're thrilled to release the A/T4W and eagerly await customer feedback on this exciting new addition."

Starting January 2024, the A/T4W will be available in up to 96 sizes, catering to rims ranging from 15 to 22 inches. This tire is ideal for popular models like Chevrolet's Colorado and Silverado, Ford's F-Series, the Jeep Cherokee, RAM trucks, and Toyota's 4Runner, Tacoma, and Tundra.

The Wildpeak A/T4W comes with a 65,000-mile Limited Tread Life Warranty for non-LT sizes (60,000 miles for LT sizes) and is supported by Falken's 30-Day Ride and Road Hazard Protection Guarantees.
