Methodology & Configuration
Scoring Process
  1. Collect Test Data: Gather results from professional tire tests across multiple publications. Minimum 1 test(s) required.
  2. Normalize Positions: Convert test positions to percentile scores using exponential weighting (factor: 1.2).
  3. Apply Recency Weighting: More recent tests are weighted higher with a decay rate of 0.95.
  4. Incorporate User Reviews: Factor in user review data (minimum 5 reviews). Weight: 15%.
  5. Bayesian Smoothing: Apply Bayesian prior (score: 7, weight: 1.5) to prevent extreme scores with limited data.
  6. Calculate Final Score: Combine all components using normalization factor of 1.1. Max score with limited data: 9.5.

Most drivers rate the Goodyear UltraGrip Performance very highly, praising outstanding grip in snow, wet, and even dry conditions, with stable handling and confidence across varied winter use. Several note good longevity over multiple seasons and acceptable comfort, though a slight increase in noise and fuel use is mentioned. Given 91% while driving a Infiniti Q30 (235/50 R18) on mostly town for 6,000 average miles
Very good tire with a good value for money ratio. Had them for a while and the grip on snow, wet and dry was almost perfect. I cannot recommend them more.

Not very good in any condition.
Very noisy for a summer tire, big were on just 10000 miles.

Have fitted these for three seasons now and cannot fault them. We live down a small steep farm track which isn't cleared or salted at all in the winter, I can climb the hill in the deepest darkest winter no problem. Most impressive is how well mannered they are in more 'normal' weather, I fitted them in November this year which was unseasonably warm and other than a slight increase in noise and a fuel consumption they are great.

Absolutely a nice and good winter tire. Expensive but worth every penny. Good in wet and dry conditions.

Honestly I cant recommend these tires enough, over my 30 years of driving I believe I have tried nearly every winter tire available to date and I honestly cant find anything that will beat these. Fit these to your car with confidence and you'll never go wrong. It's only a shame Goodyear have discontinued these as I doubt I'll find anything as good to replace them with when the time comes..

Check out how the BEST all seasons tires perform against premium summer and winter tires!
Given 94% while driving a Toyota Avensis (225/45 R17 V) on a combination of roads for 20,000 spirited miles
Very good tire. Dry grip is almost as good as a summer tire. Wet grip also excellent. Good in snow. Would buy again, unfortunately this model was discontinued.

Given 93% while driving a Mercedes Benz SLK 200 (205/55 R16 Q) on mostly country roads for 15,000 average miles
Those were on my SLK for three winters. And they are perfect for wet roads and snow. But on ice they're useless. I've chose UG performance because they are silent tires. Used for 3 seasons and I think that these are good for another 3.

Given 81% while driving a Renault Megane (205/55 R16 H) on a combination of roads for 70,000 average miles
I'm surprise nobody reviewed these tires. I'm not into tires so much, but I can tell you these are GREAT during winter. I had them for 3 winters now, still enough thread for two more. They're fitted on a Megane 2, in East Europe, where snow is plentiful. Can't compare them with anything really, just my regular summer tires, and I can tell you the difference between these is huge. I didn't know tires matter that much. With summer tires I couldn't reach home one evening because of snow, but with these, the wheels didn't slip once under the same conditions. When I'll need new winter tires, I'll definitely buy again (if they still make them).
