215/55 17 Tire Review Highlights

Kleber Quadraxer 3 rated 77% while driving a Suzuki vitara s 1,4 boosterjet
Driving on mostly country roads for 30000 average miles
Kleber is part of the Michelin group, so it is easy to see how the technology found in the cross-climate has trickled down to this tire. I currently drive a Suzuki Vitara 2019, and the bulk of my drive is done by the wife commuting and my two big trips a year from Scotland to Italy or Poland.
Motorway driving is on par with many other tires; the wind noise coming from the car is always louder than the tires themselves, so no trouble there; you get just a wee bit less fuel efficiency overall (compared to the more expensive choice), but it is nothing to transcendental, on the dry they are as good as you can imagine, you can get the edge of the grip quick enough(most probably is the car been heavier than a hatchback) but is relatively easy to understand and current, they give a good road feel and absorb potholes quite well, on the wet they are great, having directional tread (similar to corossclimate) it helps to dissipate the water and they have never felt unsafe or lacking grip.
The same goes for the snow. I took the car to the Alps last year, and it was a breeze. Traction control never had to engage, and the drive felt smooth and safe.
I've driven almost 30.000 miles and still have more than 3mm left on the tread. I'll probably get another set unless I find something more interesting to try.

Bridgestone Turanza All Season 6 rated 84% while driving a Suzuki Vitara 1.4 GLX Mild Hybrid AllGrip
Driving on a combination of roads for 3100 easy going miles
Fitted on a Suzuki Vitara 2021 4X4 to replace the manufacture's Continental Ecocontact 5. First time on an all-season tire on a relatively mild climate with average to bad quality roads in Greece. The tire performs excellent on dry almost like a summer tire with more noise. Wet handling is also very good with no surprises and felt very confident. I also drove light snow and the handling was great compared to a summer tire but average compared to a winter one, although if you don't push it, it will do the job, haven't tried ice. I also did a bit of offroading in muddy conditions and with the combination of Suzuki allgrip it was very good, way better than the OEM tires. I have only done about 5k km because I switch to summer one's on late spring, so far wear seems normal. I would definitely buy again as it was the cheapest choice of premium all-season tire I could get for my size and overall for mild winter conditions it's an excellent tire.

Goodyear EfficientGrip Performance 2 rated 95% while driving a Toyota Avensis estate 1.8 petrol
Driving on mostly motorways for 1000 easy going miles
I have been driving my Goodyear Efficientgrip Performance 2 (215/55 R17 94W) for about 1000 miles and I'm quite surprised with the quiet and comfortable ride they deliver, a real premium experience. I have to admit that they struggle a bit on wet braking, but the rolling resistance is impressive, as the car kept the same fuel consumption as with the smaller OEM Michelin (205/60 R16 92V).

Yokohama BluEarth GT AE51 rated 79% while driving a Honda Odyssey
Driving on mostly town for 20000 average miles
Good choice for light passenger vehicles. Grip performance is above average in both dry and wet conditions. If your tires side profile are 50+, highly recommended to pump up to 35 - 37 PSI, while the manufacturer says 32 - 36 PSI. It provides a very clear and solid traction on both highway and city corners. If it is a front wheel drive, you might need to check the wear around 30000 km, especially the edge toes. However the back wheels are still with 80%+ tread. Hence it is perfect for those light 4 wheel drive although I have not tried on them. These GT tires are designed for summer touring so they are pretty quiet and comfort, compare to other mid-high range brands. They are good quality in general and drived with confidence.

Toyo Celsius rated 86% while driving a Toyota Verso
Driving on a combination of roads for 40000 spirited miles
Bought 4 x Toyo Celsius in early 2022 and in April 2025 they have now covered nearly 40,000 miles and are down at 3mm tread depth all round having rotated them twice a year.

They've driven from Lancashire UK to France, Belgium, Netherlands, Germany, Denmark, Sweden & Norway - almost 4,000 miles.

They have recently returned from a trip round France, Italy, Switzerland & Germany - 3,000 miles.

The Made-in-Japan Celsius delivers a smooth, comfortable, quiet ride that helps the miles pass by with ease.

They track a neat line round long corners without the need for minor corrections and it'll drive in a straight line for 100s and 100s of metres with your hands off the steering wheel . . . it's a great tire to drive long distances with. Minimal effort is required making it a relaxed touring companion.

In winter it's always gotten us home from wherever we've been. And we live in the hills where, come snowfall, 99% of people don't venture out in their cars. The deepest snow the tire has seen is about 4 to 6 inches and traction and braking were impressive. The aggressive tread design and traction claws obviously help inspire confidence in these conditions.

In the wet, standing water doesn't throw the car off line and motorway driving in heavy rain is surefooted.

Again, dry weather poses no issues for the tires which have seen +35deg C and the tread blocks have remained stiff enough for you to enjoy fast B-roads in the summer.

It's a well-engineered tire (each wheel is balanced with just 10 to 15 grams of weights in total). Most other tires we've owned (Bridgestone/Goodyear) required 30 to 50 grams in wheel weights.

We're due to get some new tires come October/November but we'll have to get a different brand because when I've looked Toyo Celsius are regularly unavailable in the UK in the tire size we need. Tire Leader, Mytires, Black Circles, Camskill and even a local tire fitter who specialises in Toyo tires can't get their hands on them.

I thoroughly recommend the Celsius if you're looking at Toyo as a potential purchase - assuming you can get hold of them!

Pirelli Cinturato WeatherActive rated 100% while driving a Hyundai Sonata hybrid limited
Driving on mostly motorways for 4377 average miles
I have a much better grip on ice and wet conditions now. The tire noise significantly less than the stock tires on the highway. I can now hear the media at lower volumes compared to the stock Kumho solus ta31 tires.

Pirelli Cinturato C3 rated 93% while driving a Skoda Superb MK3 (2015 Present)
Driving on a combination of roads for 100 average miles
I just put this model on my Superb and did a "test" on a day of heavy rain and day after on dry and behavior looks great. I had P7 Blue years ago which I did not really like. In the meantime I had Goodyear EfficientGrip Performance 2 that I liked and I definitely like these new C3.

Dunlop Sport Maxx 050 Plus rated 64% while driving a Honda HRV
Driving on a combination of roads for 0 average miles
My HRV came with these tires from first. Actually it perform well grip in dry, good sharp enough for cornering. But I really not recommend while you drive in wet or rainy, it's slippery and I just drive around 47-50mph. In Indonesian road, these tires so noicy and harsh riding.

Continental EcoContact 6 rated 84% while driving a Volkswagen Passat B8 1.6TDI BMT 120PS
Driving on mostly motorways for 2000 easy going miles
Wanted a nice solid tire with a particular focus on low rolling resistance. These Ecocontact 6s are quite nice. They are comfortable and quiet. The grip is unreal in comparison to the mishmash of Triangle, Yeada, Fronway, and iLink L-Grip (inspiring name) that the previous owner of this car decided to rock. These tires are much more planted and I no longer engage ABS while braking for the traffic lights in the wet :)

Falken Ziez ZE950 AS rated 89% while driving a Toyota Camry
Driving on a combination of roads for 53 average miles
My wife and I love these tires! The most positive attributes are the smooth ride, very low road noise, handling and value for what you pay. There is really only one area I would love to see increase and that would be a higher mileage warranty, but then as we all know, that will reflect lower handling. Overall, these are the best tires we have owned and are ready to purchase our next set of Falken 960's. Just remember, the tire is the most important part of your vehicle, as it is the ONLY part of the vehicle that touches the road.

Kenda Emera A1 rated 84% while driving a Suzuki SX4 Scross 1.4T Boosterjet
Driving on mostly country roads for 1000 spirited miles
These are VERY good tires, with supreme comfort and grip. As good for grip as my Continental EcoContact 6, but with more ride comfort. Quiet and quite a soft compound, with good handling. Because these prioritise comfort, road feedback is not quite as good as the Continentals, but it makes for a safe, relaxing drive. I will actively choose these for both my cars again. Excellent.
