Scoring Process
  1. Collect Test Data: Gather results from professional tire tests across multiple publications. Minimum 1 test(s) required.
  2. Normalize Positions: Convert test positions to percentile scores using exponential weighting (factor: 1.2).
  3. Apply Recency Weighting: More recent tests are weighted higher with a decay rate of 0.95.
  4. Incorporate User Reviews: Factor in user review data (minimum 5 reviews). Weight: 15%.
  5. Bayesian Smoothing: Apply Bayesian prior (score: 7, weight: 1.5) to prevent extreme scores with limited data.
  6. Calculate Final Score: Combine all components using normalization factor of 1.1. Max score with limited data: 9.5.

On dry roads, the Triangle exhibits low grip levels with vague steering feel and significantly longer braking distances. Wet performance is concerning, with poor braking, uncertain handling, and nervous response to load changes. Despite offering acceptable aquaplaning resistance, overall wet safety is compromised. The Chinese budget tire suffers from rapid wear and short life expectancy, negating much of its price advantage over time. The Triangle demonstrates why focusing solely on purchase price can be misleading – its safety compromises and poor longevity make it difficult to recommend even at its lower price point.

This budget tire performed surprisingly well in aquaplaning tests, matching or exceeding some premium brands. It also delivered decent wet handling at the level of premium tires and featured good rolling resistance. Its major weakness was in wet braking, where it needed about 10 meters more stopping distance than the best tire in the test. Manufactured in China.

Given 81% while driving a MG ZS EV (215/55 R17) on a combination of roads for 13,000 spirited miles
Honestly I expected very little and got far more than I paid for. Sadly, I lost 3 of 4 tires after some debris in the road damaged them beyond repair on a Friday evening; recovered to the nearest garage who could only offer these tires off the shelf or wait until Monday, which wasn't an option when I was 200 miles from home. Being a B/B rated tire gave a little more confidence. I went for the full four for the sake of simplicity and ensuring even wear. Having been fitted for 6 months and 13k miles, the overall view is that they exceeded expectations; dry grip is as good as the OEM Kumho that came on the car from new, wet grip is very close but feels slightly more numb than before, tread life is about the same, road noise is slightly more BUT by just a hair, and ride comfort is pretty much on par. Fuel/energy economy doesn't appear to have been affected either, despite them being fitted to an EV which are generally very sensitive to rolling resistance. Factor in the cost of around 15% less per tire than the Kumho that were replaced, I see this as a positive so far. I'm never a huge fan of budget tires, as I see that the value of safety is higher than the value to my wallet, but in this case I had little choice, but the gamble paid off.

Given 87% while driving a Audi 3,0 tdi quattro sport (235/45 R17) on mostly country roads for 5,000 average miles
Had these on before on a previous car for 2 years, had a full set fitted in August on my A4, I hit a boulder on the road at 60mph and surprisingly it was still in tact, some damage but still held up, definitely durable and got me home at the end. Over inflation did have a major wear effect on it previously on my Quattro though so maybe that’s only thing I can complain about

Given 89% while driving a Mercedes Benz CLS 350 (245/40 R19) on mostly country roads for 14 average miles
Excellent tires for the money. The grip in the wet and dry is very good. My car is rwd so rears only lasted 14kms while the front lasted just below 40klms.

Given 74% while driving a BMW 530e M Sport LCI 2021 (245/35 R20) on for 26,500 miles
A fantastic all round sportish tire for the price. grips very well in dry and wet conditions, perfect for the summer and cooler months anything above 5 degrees the tire will perform fine...road feedback and responsiveness not the best at all but it will do the job safely. poor on icey/frosty roads watch out for that and keep the ESC on for the bendy corners. badly affects consumption when worn out or down it will worn down if you are a sport/spirited driver. Max 26000km max.

Initial Impressions Review
Given 76% while driving a Toyota Hi ace swb van (245/40 R20) on for 20,000 miles
I have these tires on a 2007 Hiace van. The van is used for all duties including holidays, i own a van rather than an SUV as its more user friendly. The Triangle Effexsport TH202 have been great tires. I note that the van is very stable when driving on twisty New Zealand roads. In the wet the tires give me a surprising amount of confidence. I flatted a tire at speed on the motorway, the tire stayed on the rim but was damaged (creased sideway due to driving a distant while flat to get to a safe spot).
Yes i would buy again, in fact i just did.

Check out how the BEST all seasons tires perform against premium summer and winter tires!
Given 27% while driving a Audi A6 2.0 TDI (255/35 R20) on mostly motorways for 2,800 easy going miles
Had these tires on my car for just over 3 months covering less than 3,000 miles and the fronts had to be replaced and the rear wear down to 3mm tread. only motorway driving with no harsh acceleration or braking, performed terribly in wet conditions when changing lanes on the motorway you could feel the loss of grip. would never buy this brand again.

Given 87% while driving a BMW 420d M Sport X Drive (225/40 R19) on a combination of roads for 14,000 average miles
Looking for an alternative tire to replace run flats on my BMW 4 series. Did some research and liked the sound of the effex sport TH202, coupled with Triangles commitment to the American market. Fitted 4 new tires in April 2023 and I have found them to be excellent for grip in the dry and the wet unless you are pushing them hard, when you will suffer a small margin of understeer. They made a hugely noticeable difference in terms of ride comfort and noise from Bridgestone run flats which I was very pleased about. The only downside for me is the longevity of the fronts. I’m having to replace them (Aug 2024), having covered 14000 miles in 15 months. Having said that, the rears are still going strong and probably good for another 8-10000 miles and if you compare the cost, (I paid £340 fitted, for 4 Triangle tires), with that of the major brands, it makes perfect sense. I would definitely buy again, unfortunately out of stock and can’t find them anywhere so have to resort to paying through the nose for a major brand.
