Fastest on the dry handling course with a sporty, track-friendly feel and strong steering response.
Wet confidence at the limit was low on subjective scoring compared with its objective wet pace.
The Maxxis Premitra HP6 finished 8th overall, but it had one clear highlight: it was 1st in dry handling time and also scored in the top group for subjective dry handling. It also delivered a strong rolling resistance result compared with several performance-focused tires. In the wet, the objective results were decent in the middle group, but the subjective wet handling score was in the bottom group, which suggests the way it reached and went past the limit in the wet wasn't as confidence-inspiring as the stopwatch alone.
2026 ADAC Summer Tire Test

8th/16
Maxxis’s Premitra HP6 receives only fair ratings in safety and environmental categories. The tire provides short braking distances on dry and wet roads but displays modest steering precision and grip at the limit on dry pavement. Wet-road performance is only fair. Environmentally, its predicted mileage is low, though weight and fuel consumption are favourable. ADAC highlights short braking, low abrasion and low fuel consumption as strengths, but notes handling weaknesses on both dry and wet surfaces and low mileage.
The Maxxis HP6 Premitra 6 is a new product that arrives at a competitive mid-range price, but the test results are mixed. Rolling resistance is good, sitting in the better half of the field, but this is offset by a poor predicted tread life - the second-lowest in the group - and relatively high abrasion. On wet roads the tire struggles. It initially pushes wide with understeer, and then when the front does eventually grip, the rear can lose traction quite suddenly, creating an unpredictable two-stage breakaway character that demands quick reactions from the driver. Wet braking distances are also long. On dry roads the picture is better - the Maxxis posts a quick handling lap time and changes direction well in the slalom - but test drivers noted a slight nervousness through fast corners, a background instability that doesn't inspire full confidence even though the tire remains controllable. The combination of weak wet performance and below-average durability means the tire doesn't offer enough to earn a recommendation despite its reasonable price.

Given 73% while driving a Ford Fiesta MK8 Ecoboost (100hp) (215/45 R17) on mostly country roads for 6,000 spirited miles
I have the OE version of the tire for BMW, which is a AAA version in 215/45 17. They were mounted on the rear axle of a Ford Fiesta ST Line 155 MH for testing.
Continental Premium Contact 6 tires are used up front.
The MAXXIS tires are very quiet, precise, and light. I'm convinced they're absolutely on par with the Continentals, as my car zips around fast corners with absolute neutrality and remains neutral with every load change.
