Fastest on the dry handling course with a sporty, track-friendly feel and strong steering response.
Wet confidence at the limit was low on subjective scoring compared with its objective wet pace.
The Maxxis Premitra HP6 finished 8th overall, but it had one clear highlight: it was 1st in dry handling time and also scored in the top group for subjective dry handling. It also delivered a strong rolling resistance result compared with several performance-focused tires. In the wet, the objective results were decent in the middle group, but the subjective wet handling score was in the bottom group, which suggests the way it reached and went past the limit in the wet wasn't as confidence-inspiring as the stopwatch alone.
The Maxxis Premitra HP 6 delivers solid but unremarkable performance across the board. On wet roads it understeers in tight corners and steering response to direction changes is slightly delayed. Wet and dry braking are average with room for improvement. On the dry handling course, straight-line stability and balance are good, but turn-in and steering precision need work. Aquaplaning resistance is below average. Ride comfort is firm, with some drone in corners. It is the heaviest tire in the test at 8.9 kg but achieves the lowest rolling resistance.

225/45 R17 • 2026
6th/9
The Maxxis Premitra 6 loses just 0.4 points to the Michelin, which is a notable result for the cheapest tire in the test. Its main strength is consistency - it finishes mid-pack in nearly every test without any weak spots. This means it is unlikely to surprise the driver in any conditions. Rolling resistance is at a good level.

Given 73% while driving a Ford Fiesta MK8 Ecoboost (100hp) (215/45 R17) on mostly country roads for 6,000 spirited miles
I have the OE version of the tire for BMW, which is a AAA version in 215/45 17. They were mounted on the rear axle of a Ford Fiesta ST Line 155 MH for testing.
Continental Premium Contact 6 tires are used up front.
The MAXXIS tires are very quiet, precise, and light. I'm convinced they're absolutely on par with the Continentals, as my car zips around fast corners with absolute neutrality and remains neutral with every load change.
