Excellent winter tires, outstanding grip in all winter conditions in the Alps. The overall handling is very predictable. The tires offer a safe driving exprience and are relatively quiet. I can definitely recommend them.

Writing about the Vredestein Ultrac plus

As a family car guy with a heavy PHEV (almost 2 tons), I was looking for tires that are genuinely good in the rain, quiet, comfortable on our crappy roads, and don't cost a fortune – since I only do about 5–8 000 km per year on my private car.
Most of the time I drive the company car on Continentals (which makes sense with 80k km/year), but for the private Optima I wanted something sensible.
After some research I went for Vredestein Ultrac+ XL 215/55 R17 98Y.
Short verdict: I'm very pleasantly surprised – these are excellent tires for the money.
Rain performance – really top class. I tested them hard in heavy downpours on the highway at 110 km/h – zero aquaplaning feeling, zero twitchiness during overtaking, they just hold the line like they're glued. Much more confidence-inspiring than my previous Dunlop Sport Maxx RT2 in really bad weather.
Noise & comfort – massive improvement. The Dunlops were quite hard and transmitted every single pebble and expansion joint straight into the cabin. The Vredesteins have a noticeably softer sidewall (thanks to the taller profile and construction), so they filter bumps much better. Cabin is now properly quiet even at highway speeds.
Grip & handling – they sit very planted, steering feels precise, no drama on wet corners or sudden lane changes.
Price – paid ~93–94 € per tire, so ~375 € for the set. For that money getting this level of wet safety + comfort is a steal compared to 120–130 € Continentals or Michelins.
Slightly higher rolling resistance (B label) than some premium EV-optimized tires (A label), so probably 1–2% more consumption on battery mode – but with my low mileage it's completely negligible.
Wear will probably be average (not as long-lasting as Primacy 5), but again – at 5–8k km/year this set will last 5–7 years easily.
If you have a heavy family PHEV/SUV, drive mostly in Central Europe (lots of rain, average roads), don't do crazy mileage and don't want to overpay for a badge – Vredestein Ultrac+ is currently one of the smartest buys in this size. For me personally – best value tire I've had in years.
Would buy again without hesitation.

Car came from factory with Continental EcoContact 6Q, which were decent enough, but needed replacing at 14k on the front. The dealer I bought the car off fitted these Matadors, and I was honestly expecting them to be terrible. They really are quite good.
Only when really pushing on in the wet do they start to let go. They handle the cars 201hp no problem.
I would certainly consider buying them in the future if they weren't the price they are - for the same money you can get Falkens and only a tenner more for Goodyear.
Matador shares a lot of Continental knowledge, and really I can't tell the difference between them and the EcoContact 6Q. The Matador even have the Continental "wet grip" wear bars, same as the 6Q.
If you can get them cheap, then go for it.

Many people here had overwhelmingly positive reviews about these tires. So I am absolutely shocked how underwhelming they felt in my experience. Maybe I’m doing something wrong but the traction control light goes off pretty often when I give them a good floor, and the car starts going to the side. Never happens under dry condition with my other tires. They’re also a lot more prone to slipping when it rains. They’re fuel efficient, give good road feedback, they’re not noisy, it’s all comfy - but the consistent lack of grip that I’m otherwise used to, has really frustrated me.

Very good behavior on dry asphalt, but when it rains they are dangerous, they slide badly. In the snow, traction exists thanks to the 4x4 system, but braking leaves a lot to be desired, - on ice they are useless. In winter they can be compared to a cheap mixed tire.

I drove around 5k miles, 1 summer and 1 winter. Noticed a bit higher rolling resistance only after switching from old summer tires, but it’s not a significant difference. After reading reviews I expected them to be much louder, but they are not.
They are great in dispersing water on wet road.
This winter has been really cold with a lot of snow and ice, and I can say they have been great, in combination with my cars ESP I felt safe and confident even in very snowy and icy roads.

I’ve had a pair of these on our vitara for the last two years and have no complaints. They are on the back of the car so can’t rate them for how they feel on steering, but grip on the rear of the car has been fine (admittedly it’s no race car). The only negative comment I could make is that they do appear to be wearing relatively quickly. On about 15k and they are probably 70% worn.

for a cheap price HAIDA 617 is okay, it costsed me apx 300$ new with installation from local shop. will buy again if available. i mostly ride in city and drive mountine resors on a weekends via hiway road. snow/ice roads outside of city. main thing is. if roads are cleared this tire is way more when okay for this budget.

Mine is CF2 SUV edition. For a 1.5 litre 1.2 ton light car, this comfort + touring oriented tire helps in improving the comfort on the 'harsh' nature of the compact Honda Vezel / HRV (CUV).
Quiet and stable at high speed. Previous tire was Michelin Primacy 4. Toyo slightly more comfort in same profile size.

For an OEM tire, they're okay. They do fine on the dry, but would like more grip off the line. Different story on wet, the tires break traction very easily on an EV and tends to happen often. Average noise and comfort. I do not intend to buy again.

I replaced my worn out Michelin pilot sport 4 with the Ventus prime 4 and the difference in comfort and noice was noticeable. Dry and wet grip were not on par with the Michelin, but not significantly worse. Used them for only around 5000km before I sold the car, but as a touring tire, and for half the price of the Michelin, you cannot go wrong with them. Especially comfort wise.
