185/65 15 Tire Review Highlights

Hankook Kinergy 4S 2 X rated 80% while driving a Kia Motors Rio
Driving on mostly motorways for 50 average miles
bought a set of these 2 years ago based on a review from this site. wasn't sure about them at first as they seemed quite slippery for the first 100 miles or so, but soon bedded in, and since then have not had any worries. They perform well all round and am just about to buy a second set. would recommend these tires and if they perform as well this time round as last I will probably get again if available. for around £60-80 a tire they seem to be very good value.

Here is where you can see the tires being used in snow conditions.

All I have to say is that I never felt I was driving on snow, but rather on wet surface. That's how reassuring and grippy they were.

In wet conditions, it's better than I expected. They grip on the road and give you traction for all normal and adjusted to the circumstances driving needs.

In dry conditions, they tend to be a bit sloppy, especially at higher speeds, but if you keep it down to a normal driving mode there shouldn't be any problem.

Just remember, winter tires are for WINTER conditions! Please, replace them with summer tires especially if the temperature rises above 18-20 degrees Celcius. I am saying this because unfortunately in my mediterranean country there are a lot of people going through summer (!) on winter tires!

All in all, I am more than satisfied with the tire, as you can plainly see in the video, and I would definitely buy them again

Michelin Primacy 4 rated 96% while driving a Peugeot 208 1.5 BlueHDi
Driving on a combination of roads for 40000 spirited miles
This is the second set of Primacy 4 that I used.

In the dry, it is outstanding. Whether turning, accelarating or braking the tire always delivers maximum grip. What is even more impressive though is the grip it has when WORN. After 60,000km, even with the tread at 3.6mm left, it still brakes and stops the car like a charm. This is the reason I will opt for them again and again.

In the wet, it is very very good, especially when new. When worn, it still performs very well. As for aquaplanning, I don't really know as I haven't been through more than 5mm of water at a great speed, but down the highway at 90km/h and heavy rain there was no problem whatsoever. Now that they are worn, I don't really know.

The feedback is more than satisfying for my non-expert mind as well as the handling.

Comfort is a bit above average in my opinion. I have had experience with BF Goodrich g-grip tires, which set the standard for me as concerns comfort. The Michelin Primacy 4 is acceptable in this field.

Wear.......well, the tire loses 0.5mm (yes, half a millimeter) of tread for every 10,000km. When new, the tread was at 6.8mm and now, after 60,000km, it is at 3.6mm. In my book, this is exceptional performance and money well-spent for a tire that has no drawback, keeps my family safe and remains strong even towards the end of its life. Well done, Michelin.

Buy again? Oh, hell yeah!

You can have a look here if you want to see for yourself what they look like now, after 60,000km

Kumho Ecowing ES31 rated 94% while driving a Kia Motors Rio
Driving on mostly motorways for 28 easy going miles
I drive a KIA RIO 1.200cc MY 2012, the car was bought new with some lousy HANKOOK KINERGY ECO 425 with which I did 65,000 Km and after I brought them twice front and rear. With the new Kumho [although MADE IN CHINA] the surprises followed one another. At first I was impressed by how quiet they are and they continue to be after 28,000 Km. Then I was impressed by the grip on dry roads which had a confidence and a stability even in braking that won you over immediately and continues to win you over. As for wear and tear, they remain brand new [the car is kept in a garage], and in general the roads in Greece are so slippery that the tires do not have much wear. Now let's go to the only black spot which is the rain. Things are not so pleasant there. Especially in heavy rain there is no proper water drainage. It's like they clog their grooves with water and create a film of water between the tire and the road. Worse than the original Hankooks. So in the water you need special attention. In conclusion, I would dare to say that I would gladly buy them again because I liked their price and because they are an honest tire for the money you pay.

Falken Sincera SN110 Ecorun rated 79% while driving a Hyundai i20
Driving on mostly country roads for 16000 average miles
These were fitted all round on our Hyundai i20. Not a ball of fire by any means. Completed around 16k miles, fronts are down to min wear now, still give good grip and minimal noise. Rears are on around 4.5mm. driven on rough roads in the Welsh valleys with narrow streets requiring you to drive in gullys and close to the kerb. Motorway miles are quiet, a good tire which inspired confidence in a small car. Being replaced by an all season soon to suit our weather better.

Kumho Solus 4S HA32 Plus rated 71% while driving a Citroën xsara picasso
Driving on a combination of roads for 0 miles
On a Xsara Picasso, they provide safety in the wet, are comfortable on uneven surfaces, but are somewhat noisy. Greater rolling resistance increases fuel consumption somewhat. The softer casing provides more noticeable drift, and the reactions are predictable. A good tire for relaxed drivers looking for safety in wet and snow conditions.

Not good at wet surfaces. Cold, curves, wet and high torque is enemy of this tire.

Kleber Dynaxer HP 3 rated 79% while driving a Nissan Primera
Driving on a combination of roads for 25000 easy going miles
I’ve been using the Kleber Dynaxer HP3 (185/65 R15) on my 1997 Nissan Primera P11 for the past 10 years, covering around 40,000 kilometres, mostly in city traffic and on the Autobahn. Throughout the entire period, the tires have been very reliable and consistent. They also had remarkably low wear in my use case. The tread depth is still good, and I’m only replacing them now due to their age. In terms of tread I could easily drive them for several more years. I drive in a fairly relaxed manner (mostly 100-120 km/h on the Autobahn, and rarely exceeding 140 km/h) and I’ve never encountered a situation (wet or dry) where the tires felt unstable or unsafe. They also did well during a few emergency stops. They were reasonably priced in my tire size and I'd buy them (or the successors) again without any hesitation.

Michelin Alpin 7 rated 92% while driving a Mazda Mazda 2 Skyactiv G 1.5 (114hp)
Driving on a combination of roads for 7500 spirited miles
Excellent on both dry and wet surfaces. Excellent on fresh and packed snow, even in challenging conditions. Comfortable and quiet. Wear after 12,000 km: Approximately 1.5 mm on the front, approximately 0.7 mm on the rear. Would definitely buy again.

Michelin Latitude Alpin 2 rated 88% while driving a Nissan Primera
Driving on a combination of roads for 30000 easy going miles
I've been using the Michelin Latitude Alpin 2 on my 1997 Nissan Primera P11 for about 12 years and roughly 50,000 km. I drive with a light foot, mostly in everyday situations and the Autobahn, and live in Germany where winters can range from dry and wet to snowy and icy. Throughout all that, the tires have always felt safe and reliable. They handled well in snow and slush, never slipped unexpectedly in the wet, and stayed comfortable and quiet on dry roads. Even now, they still have enough tread for another two or three winters, but I'm replacing them purely due to age. Overall, they've been incredibly dependable, and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend them.
