Methodology & Configuration
Scoring Process
  1. Collect Test Data: Gather results from professional tire tests across multiple publications. Minimum 1 test(s) required.
  2. Normalize Positions: Convert test positions to percentile scores using exponential weighting (factor: 1.2).
  3. Apply Recency Weighting: More recent tests are weighted higher with a decay rate of 0.95.
  4. Incorporate User Reviews: Factor in user review data (minimum 5 reviews). Weight: 15%.
  5. Bayesian Smoothing: Apply Bayesian prior (score: 7, weight: 1.5) to prevent extreme scores with limited data.
  6. Calculate Final Score: Combine all components using normalization factor of 1.1. Max score with limited data: 9.5.

Given 56% while driving a Kia Motors Rio 2 (185/65 R15) on mostly town for 20,000 average miles
Really terrible noise

Given 94% while driving a Renault (135/80 R15) on mostly country roads for 1,000 spirited miles
Tremendous tires, their level of grip makes you feel your brain hitting your skull in the corners and on the brakes.
Good handling, too.. they make the Renault 8 feel like a perfectly equilibrated car.

Perfect tires for driving downhill at break-neck speeds of over 135kmh or for drifting at the hairpins of the Envalira mountain pass in Andorra.

Given 90% while driving a Nissan Micra (175/60 R15) on mostly town for 2,000 average miles
I have a 2015 Nissan Micra (K13), and there are limited choices available for the size 175/60R15. I bought these Maxxis tires with some trepidation after reading about their alleged poor wet handling and road noise, but so far (2,000 km) I don't see any problems at all. The handling and grip on dry pavement are absolutely superb (as confirmed by the top dry ranking in the ADAC/Stiftung Warentest test), and I haven't had any problems at all driving in light or heavy rain on city streets or rural roads. At highway speeds, there was a little understeer on very wet roads, though this felt more like a somewhat lighter touch to the steering than a lack of control. The tires also aren't noisy. I gather this is more of an issue on 14-inch tires, but in 15-inch they're definitely quieter than the Bridgestone B250 that came with the car, with one exception - the resonant "plonk" noise that the tires make when you drive over a stone, hit a kerb, etc. is a bit more noticeable. All in all, the tire seems very well matched to a small car like the Micra, and (remember these are first impressions) so far I am very pleasantly surprised, not least because they were very reasonably priced for a Taiwan-made tire.

Given 56% while driving a Nissan Cube (185/65 R14) on mostly town for 6,000 average miles
Worst on dry and wet road. The tire only last for 5,000 KM, after that it become hard so fast and losing grip. The tire isn't reliable for the emergency brake or avoid the accident. Terrible noise after 60Km/h. Good for uncle driving style.

Terrible noise!!

Given 81% while driving a Rover rover 200 turbo coupe (185/55 R15) on mostly country roads for 0 average miles
Admittedly I've not had these long but really a very good all round tire, you won't get much better for the money and a big step up from the cheapest budget / unknown brands. Very grippy, car does not understeer as easily in the dry and seems to allow me to exploit the handling characteristics of my car a bit more. Less wheel spin that previous tires too. If I was critical possibly less feedback but honestly it's hard to tell and not an objective thing really.

Renault (185/60 R16 T) on mostly town for 12,000 spirited miles
They are fitted to a mk3 clio 1.4.

They are an alright tire in the dry, reasonably quiet, comfy and have decent grip in the dry. However, anything other than dry they are terrible. Fitted to a 100hp car and it still lights up the tires in 2nd at a reasonable rpm in the wet. I've never had any tires do this in such a low hp car. When cornering, they are predictable in the wet and dry which is a plus for me. All 4 tires currently have 5mm so wear is quite good.

I know its a summer tire, but they significantly lose grip in sub 0 temps where as my older tires, dunlop sp sport 01 retained a lot more grip in less than ideal conditions.

I bought these tires mid-September '18 and I'm replacing them now mid-January '19. Decent grip in the dry but prone to understeer in the wet.
