Passenger Car Summer Max Performance Tires Tire Review Highlights

Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymmetric 6 rated 83% while driving a Hyundai Tucson
Driving on a combination of roads for 10000 average miles
Good tire overall, dry grip is top notch, handles hard braking and fast corners really well, wet grip is also really good, has good water dispersion on long but not too deep puddles tho i feel like it could a bit better on deeper ones. handles heat well on a 1.8ton suv and keeps really well the weight transfer, driven so far 15k km and its showing some signs of use but it's holding up really well.

Hankook Ventus S1 evo 3 rated 82% while driving a Kia Motors Stinger 2.0 RWD
Driving on a combination of roads for 0 average miles
The main reason I bought it was because of the price and the wet braking performance on a couple of Tire Reviews' tests. I have a staggered setup (225/40R19 in front and 255/35/R19 in the rear). I can definitely feel it more comfortable than the previous tire that the car came with (Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymmetric 3 in front and Asymmetric 5 in the rear). I haven't had the chance to test deep water, but on dry it has enough grip. It gives a little less feedback than the Goodyear but on highways is stable. can't say anything about the wear yet because I fitted it recently. So far I think I can strongly recommend this tire.

Bridgestone Potenza S007 rated 73% while driving a Renault Megane
Driving on a combination of roads for 5000 spirited miles
Had the RS stamped ones as oe for my 2019 megane rs 300 trophy. Great on track and really suit the car working with the excellent chassis. Downside is very hard tire with the already stiff ride and poor in standing water. Had to drive at 40mph on a motorway due to standing water as the car was aquaplaning. Fantastic if your "on it" but a bit much day to day

Bridgestone Potenza S001 RFT rated 89% while driving a BMW 120d M sport
Driving on a combination of roads for 27000 spirited miles
A brand new seat of the Potenza 001 were on my 1 series when I left the forecourt. All I can say is they've been great and the wear has been amazing considering its a rear wheel drive. The front have still got 4mm left so I expect a few more thousand miles before I will need to replace.
A bit noisier than others on the market but these have been run flats so to be expected.

Hankook Ventus S1 evo2 rated 53% while driving a Hyundai Santa Fe
Driving on mostly motorways for 11000 miles
11000 miles since being fitted, and both front tires on my 2017 Hyundai Santa Fe are not far off the wear indicators. Would have expected a higher mileage from them, especially as the majority of the vehicles use is motorway driving.

Continental MaxContact MC7 rated 74% while driving a BYD Seal EV AWD
Driving on mostly town for 100 average miles
Use it with my EV,replace OEM trye. More fuel consumption around10-15% but get more grip. More comfort than OEM.

Bridgestone Potenza Sport rated 94% while driving a Audi A3 Sportback 2.0 TDI (8PA)
Driving on a combination of roads for 25000 spirited miles
Nowadays, it's not easy to find a sport tire in size 225/45/17, but the Potenza Sport has been a great experience. It has outstanding dry and wet grip without compromise, clearly above the Michelin PS4 and Pirelli PZ4. The tire also has good handling and precise steering. Its grip level was maintained throughout the tire's life, which is a strong point compared to the Pirelli. The wear has been a pleasant surprise. Although I had some concerns based on media reviews, this tire has lasted as long as the two models mentioned above.

In my opinion, comfort and fuel consumption (slightly higher, approximately 0.2 liters per 100 km) are the main weaknesses, but I understand that is the price for an otherwise exceptional tire. Thus, I am having the same tires fitted today.

Pirelli P Zero PZ4 rated 61% while driving a Mercedes Benz CLA 250 4 matic
Driving on a combination of roads for 15000 average miles
They were pretty comfortable for a performance tire. Comparing them to Bridgestone Potenza Sports. Sidewalls were a tad softer and bump absorption is better. My main gripe with them is that they wear pretty fast, got less than 20,000km from them.

Kumho Ecsta Sport PS72 rated 93% while driving a Renault Megane Coupe 2.0 dci 160hp
Driving on a combination of roads for 5000 average miles
For this rather odd yet frequent tire size there is not much choice from major producers (mostly obsolete patterns from the past or new over-EV-eco-optimalized rubbish) so I have chosen these and so far I think I have chosen well. No complaints about grip, safety, fuel consumption, tread life or noise.

They can be heard but not intrusively. They are rather soft and comfy but still safe and stable and grip really well. Wear insignificant.

Dunlop SP Sport Maxx TT rated 87% while driving a Mazda 121
Driving on mostly town for 80 spirited miles
This is my second set on this car and came as standard as purchased new. The DUNLOP-SP Sport Maxx TT 215/45R18 are great tires offering good adhesion in dry and wet conditions. They have been rotated with each 10,000km service and have retained good levels of wear and performance for 75,000km so durability has been outstanding on my car. While they are more expensive than some, the long life performance makes it worth it.

Michelin Pilot Sport 5 rated 94% while driving a Volvo S80 D5
Driving on for 20 average miles
Very nice tire. Would buy it again just because of how it looks... It is very comfortable tire with good feedback. Both on dry and wet it is really good. Aquaplaning is great. On wet they are much better that pirelli pZero but just a hint less god than Pireli PZ4. Feedback was better on PZ4 but PZ4 had far worse wear. Wear on Michelins in negligible (6mm) after 20 000km. So MICHELIN PS5 i would describe as best looking tire made for touring with such upgrades it can take anything and still manage ok feedback with great millage. If you want to have a bit more fun i would recommend Pirelli PZ4 or PZ5 now or Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymetric 6 . For my comfort car and grip without taking it to much to limit Michelin PS5 is best.

Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymmetric 6 rated 96% while driving a Volvo c70 cabrio 2.4 sport
Driving on mostly motorways for 25 spirited miles
I had them for 2 summer season before i sold my car. I had them on volvo c70, which i used a lot on highway, motorway, mountain roads etc.. I had a lot opportunities to take them to and a bit above limit. First of all, they are grippy even cold, but they like to be warmed up a bit. When they absorb just a bit of temperature they are like glue no meter if its dry or wet or very vet. In corners there are no surprises, they will let you know (you can feel) that you reached limit and even if you continue to push and they start to let go you still have control (u still have grip when you are sliding ). Amazing tire, comparable to pirelli pz4 but better wear resistance. After two season of spirited driving i was left from 7mm to 5mm with wheel rotation. So wet grip is great, dry grip great, feedback is very good all in all i love this tire!
