235/50 R18 Tire Review Highlights
Writing about the Continental VikingContact 8 rated 79%
while driving a BMW BMW 330i Xdrive Gran Turismo
These tires are incredibly balanced, comfortable, and confidence inspiring in snow and icy conditions. I live in West Michigan, and we have been hammered with snow for the last couple months, so I’ve been able to test these tires in all types of weather. They are incredibly comfortable, soaking up all sorts of potholes, and chopped up icy roads. I have not noticed any noise/tones from them, and they don’t have any issues with tram-lining on crosscut concrete. They are very grippy on smooth ice, and pull through slushy snow well, but if they have a weakness it is in deeper slush. Sometimes they struggle to gain traction when accelerating through deep slushy snow, or when trying to turn and accelerate through corners. I haven’t noticed any uneven wear, but it’s still early. I’ll update my review once the winter season is over and I put my summer wheels and tires on.

Driving on a combination of roads for 5000 spirited miles
I recently bought the tires and I can affirm those tires have a very good grip on dry and on wet road. I didn’t try them yet on snowy or icy road.
For now I recommend them, very nice and safe ride.

Driving on a combination of roads for 1000 average miles
I only have around 1,000 miles on these tires, but I was able to drive them in some heavy snow and ice conditions, so I can attest to their incredible performance in inclement weather. The ice grip is where I have been most impressed. The lateral traction I have felt in icy conditions make these feel incredibly capable and safe. I was able to drive on the freeway at a normal pace, while most of the other cars on the road slowed to a crawl. Snow grip has been very good too. Even when I put my F34 BMW into "Sport+" I have to try hard to get it sideways. These tires are also incredibly comfortable. On smooth roads they are very quiet, and on rougher pavement the noise is not loud or annoying. Very easy to drive tire, and I have not encountered any "tramlining". I noticed a small decrease in fuel efficiency compared to the Bridgestone Driveguard runflats that were on, but this could be due to other factors that come with winter driving. I will update this review after this winter season, but so far I am thoroughly impressed with the performance of the new VikingContact 8's

while driving a Opel Insignia B
Driving on a combination of roads for 4700 average miles
I have run these most of the summer season (7500 km). So far, for a family estate car the tires are excellent in dry and wet. Braking and handling is fine. They feel almost summer-like. For the first several thousands kms (maybe 3000-5000) they were a little noisier and now it seems they become quieter. Within 7500 km the tread depth looks almost not worn at all. The measurement showed less than 1mm wear. The only drawback seems to be motorway comfort. At low speeds they are fine but at motorway speeds they seem to transfer the tiny motorway bumps very efficiently. Maybe it is just a matter of the combination of the suspension on my car with this specific tire model...

Surprisingly comfortable for a sport tire. handling undoubtedly good both on dry and wet surface. there is noise but still on tolerable level and much better than my previous sport tire (Direzza DZ102). Definitely will buy again

Driving on a combination of roads for 30000 easy going miles
very strong on dry, do matter if was cold or warm. also suprised on snow, going much further than all season Vredestein Quadrac Pro, or winter Yokohama Wdrive v902a. Very quiet and pretty comfortable, although it were XL tires. I've done on them over 50000 km, and on the drive axle they just started to show some wear, on rear axle they looked like new. big minus: they were bad on wet. Aquaplanning never suprised me, but braking, strong accelerating - much worse than dry/snow performance

while driving a Hyundai Genesis 4.6
Driving on mostly town for 0 easy going miles
I've bought 4 Nexen p672 tires for my Hyundai Genesis, they slip when I put the pedal all the way down, triggering the Electronic Stability Control. I then don't recommend these tires. Tires are now at end of life, have them for three years and still have decent bands.

Driving on a combination of roads for 2000 spirited miles
Excellent braking on both dry and wet roads. Quiet driving. This is a big plus.

Unfortunately, the steering response is pathetic. Also, the steering is very poor in corners. Also, the tires do not hold air pressure. It's good that I got a few defective 2025 tires and I returned them, changed them to another manufacturer.

Writing about the Hankook iON Evo rated 54%
while driving a Mercedes Benz GLA180
Driving on mostly motorways for 5500 spirited miles
I changed to the Hankook iON Evo after my tire shop recommended it as a better choice, but I immediately felt a big drop compared to my previous Bridgestone Potenza Sport. The tires feel slippery when moving off and even skidded on me during a right turn at around 60 km/h, which was quite dangerous.

While comfort and noise levels are decent, the grip and handling are nowhere near what I expected. I only used them for about 5 months, but I’ve already lost confidence and decided to replace them. It seems this tire is really more suited for EVs, not for petrol cars if you drive a bit more aggressively.

Driving on a combination of roads for 8000 spirited miles
I was using Yokohama set of 4 V105 & 4 RV2 on this MPV before. RV2 is silent & comfort type of tire where V105 is comfort & light performance set of tire.
MPV users usually prefer comfortable ride but I’m driving a 3.5L V6 MPV I need a set of tire can have good grip in dry as well as wet.
Surprisingly V601 is much quieter than I thought, side wall firm & excellent road conditions transmitting.
