245/35 19 Tire Review Highlights

Michelin Pilot Sport 4 S rated 97% while driving a Hyundai Elantra N
Driving on a combination of roads for 20000 spirited miles
Extremely good tire. I have full confidence in them even in pouring rain. Now to be fair, I have 245 width which helps but my Elantra N is fairly light so there isn't all that much weight to keep the tires planted. Yet these tires have never steered (

Goodyear Eagle F1 SuperSport rated 74% while driving a Audi TT MK3 1.8
Driving on mostly town for 11000 spirited miles
I got these three a couple of years ago on a very attractive offer from Costco.

These tires are extremely competent on a summer’s day. Above 10°c and a dry road I could never reached their limits. In the rain they are also very well put together, albeit I never pushed them in the wet.

Unfortunately, I could never fully enjoy these tires. Due to the horrendous degradation of our roads, soon after purchase I hit an extremely bad pothole (under a railway bridge. Couldn’t see it until it was too late). Although the tire and wheel was refitted, I never felt like I could fully trust them. This is there downside. They are extremely hard (due to being a UUHP) and just can’t cope with our roads. They get thrown about all over the place and don’t make for a pleasant ride. This isn’t the fault of the tires, but really can’t recommend them as an everyday in the UK.

I will add finally that they are useless in the winter. This is no surprise, but under 8°c they are rock hard. So do keep this in mind. Perhaps have a set of winters/All seasons and run these only in the summer.

Michelin Pilot Super Sport rated 87% while driving a BMW 530i M sport
Driving on a combination of roads for 15000 spirited miles
I had these tires before replacing them with michelin ps4s. Honestly, I liked the PSS better. It's barely noticeable but it's there. I felt like the PSS was just more direct, more responsive, I don't know exactly how to describe it. The ps4s is an amazing tire too, dont get me wrong. However, just like all michelin tires I've owned over the years, by the sixth year, the PSS had developed cracks even though the car was parked indoor in a garage. I had the PSS for a little over 9 years, and once I dismounted them, I noticed the inside was almost completely torn. Still better than my ps4, which suffered from the same fate after only 6 years, but it's pretty scary. Michelin claimed their tires can last 10 years, but I never got to the 10th year, especially if the car is driven daily. I still had lots of tread left on my PSS, so I guess in terms of wear it was pretty good. Much, much better than my old PS2, which was almost completely bald after only 4 years. Overall, the PSS is an excellent tire.

Triangle SporteX TH201 rated 54% while driving a Volkswagen
Driving on mostly motorways for 20000 spirited miles
Dry grip is fine, for 150-160 km/h is fine, but if you're driving faster, it will be complicated.
Wet grip is awful, max safety speed on wet surface is about 100-110 km/h
Breaking on dry is not good
Breaking on wet is terrible
Overall, it's good for this price and driving normally. However, driving faster than 200 km/h is bad.

In my case on 9j ET33 rims on it these tires are smaller than the other brands -_-
Will change them on a newer model TH202 or CS7

Petlas Velox Sport PT741 rated 86% while driving a Audi A4 Avant 2.0 tdi 170hp
Driving on a combination of roads for 22000 spirited miles
I cover a lot of mileage every year… 35k miles easy. I honestly can’t tell you how shocked I was at how good these tires were. When it came to paying for the tires they came in much cheaper than other brands I’ve used so didn’t expect to get as much traction, mileage or general positivity with the Petlas… boy was I wrong!!

100% I’d buy again and will as soon as I get to the change limit

Michelin Pilot Sport 5 rated 90% while driving a Renault
Driving on a combination of roads for 1000 spirited miles
Swapped my 4x Continental Contact Sport 6’s with PS5’s. My car is a Renault Megane RS 280 EDC.

My Conti’s wear worn out to indicators when I swapped these. The initial impressions were not great. Car had more under steer and felt like I was on cheap Chinese tires.

However, after about 1,000kms these tires are amazing in both the dry and the wet. Fantastic grip, considering my car has 206kw at the from wheels with only electric front diff.
I was able to use launch control for the first time!
My car used to light up the front wheels and smoke and not move on launch, now it grips hard off the line with no fuss.
Best part of this tire is it’s predictability, on the old tires if I entered a bend very quickly I could step the back out and do a rear drift, this is the nature of the cars handling which is superb anyway, now with the PS5’s I can do the same manoeuvre and the back will step out a bit but it’s so much more progressive and communicative. This is the PS5’s best quality, it’s a great tire for having plenty of vigorous fun around the twisters and always maintains a level of predictability no matter how hard you push them. Yes, the PS4 S, is a better tire for the track but for the road this tire is right up there.
To top it off, the sidewall is super sexy, best I’ve seen with quality look AND feel.
I’d recommend this for any hot hatch like a Golf R, Focus RS, BMW 140iM or similar.
My car feels like a 4WD and it’s a front wheel drive, couldn’t imagine what they would do for a 4WD hot hatch!! Highly recommend!!!!!!

Bridgestone Potenza RE 71RS rated 74% while driving a Mercedes Benz A45
Driving on a combination of roads for 10000 spirited miles
This tire is like a RE11 with a firmware update. Was on PS4S for years but after changing to RE71RS, i knew the tire is way better than the former.

And although the wear on the RE71rs was really bad, i will purchase this again. Only complain is the price increment.

Continental ExtremeContact Sport 02 rated 85% while driving a Volkswagen Golf R 270 BHP
Driving on for 1000 miles
Just recently swapped from 4s's to the Conti 02's and have not been disappointed with my decision. Running 245/35-19 on my golf R and like any space I can get in the wheel wells. 02 seems a bit quieter on paved roads. Mid turn I can understand the vague feel comment but once hooked to finish the turn, I feel the Conti has a bit more positive bite which helps my car feel neutral in the turns with a bit less push. Braking seams as strong with the Conti's as the 4s's and have yet to get too much aggressive driving in the rain- Thinking the slightly wider grooves on the Conti's may inspire a little more confidence against hydroplaning but we shall see. Love your test's and I completely agree that if for nothing more than the cost alone, they are well worth the gamble!

Pirelli P Zero rated 53% while driving a Audi A4 Avant
Driving on a combination of roads for 10000 average miles
I bought these tires to replace the ones that were already on the car when I bought it. I have to say I've not been impressed with them. They look good, but the wear has been very poor for the price. They have worn unevenly even though ive had the car tracked twice. They are also quite noisy, and as mentioned the grip when cold or damp, especially on my FWD car, is shocking. I would not buy these tires again

Continental Sport Contact 6 rated 82% while driving a Audi TT mk3 2.0TFSI quarttro
Driving on a combination of roads for 13000 spirited miles
Fantastic tire, had a full set on my TT Quattro for 12 months now, not much tread left but overall idd say the short life is a small price to pay. Dry and wet grip is very good, particularly in the wet, they inspire confidence all the time. In conclusion, would probably buy again, mine are the OEM fitment and are the best tires I've ever bought despite the shorter lifespan.
