Following on from the fifty tire braking shootout, Autobild have put the best twenty summer tires through a full tire test and included a budget reference tire, which performed terribly!
The biggest advantage of an Autobild tire test? They include a wear test, this year done on a machine, so scroll down the page to see each tires estimated mileage and take note of how that affects the overall result!

There are some very interesting points to note from this test:
- The Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymmetric 6 not only won overall, but had the lowest wear of all twenty tires, performing even better than the new Michelin Pilot Sport 5! This proves the Asymmetric 6 is an incredibly balanced tire.
- The Linglong Sport Master surprising appearance in the top twenty can now be understood, it had the highest wear on test, predicted to be worn out in just 27,600km compared to the Goodyears 63,200km.
- GT Radial will be both surprised and impressed with the SportActive 2 finishing in fourth place overall! The sister Giti GitiSportS2, which should be very similar, could only finish seventeenth.
- We had high hopes for the new Yokohama Advan Sport V107, but it disappointed in fifteenth overall. It performed well in the grip tests but was deranked due to high wear / cost.
- Like the Yokohama, the Hankook and Pirelli both performed really well in the grip tests, but were degraded due to very high wear.
- Conversely the new Bridgestone Turanza 6 finish fifth overall, with a pretty average performance all the grip tests.
Perhaps the thing to watch for the most, is if you want grip, or wear, or rolling resistance, or everything. Tires like the Pirelli, Hankook and Yokohama were at the front for almost all the grip tests, but were massively deranked due to a bad score in one category.
Wet
Hankook and Pirelli led wet braking, with the new PremiumContact 7 in third. The new Yokohama Advan Sport V107 performed well in fourth overall.
The unnamed cheap tire was a total disaster, stopping in almost twice the distance of the best!
Wet handling had similar leaders, with the Pirelli, Goodyear and Continental proving to be the fastest around the lap.

Hey guys, I wanna buy tires for my crossover (255/45/R20) and have three options:
Nexen nfera Supreme (N5000 Platinum) : $175 each,
Nankang SP-9 Cross-Sport : $115,
Giti Sport S2 SUV :$125
which will provide more comfort on bumpy roads?
Are any of those tires available in 195/50 r15?
Very unlikely but there is a search on the site.
I kinda don’t understand the reviews that I read here that are putting goodyear wear among its downsides: is it possible that those are referred to the old Eagle F1 AS5?
Is it possible that the thread depth has been increased?
I’m tempted to buy these tires and I want to understand if wear will be an issue..
The Asym 6 starts with a lower starting tread depth than the Asym 5. I agree the different in user reviews about occasional poor wear vs this test is confusing. I will find out myself later in the year.
An excellent score weighting table option. My top 3 are same although Conti and Mich swap places. However Pirelli, Hankook, Yoko all move up into the next places replacing GT, Dunlop and Bridgestone. Tires in the lower places remain similar.
The projected mileage test puts Goodyear, Michelin, and Continental in a league of their own. I wonder how they would fare in the real world when compared to Bridgestone, Pirelli, and Hankook.
Yep, it show's how far ahead some tires are as a total package.
The drum machine used for the wear testing is owned by Bridgestone and other testers have said there's good correlation between the drum and real world testing, it's the same machine ADAC used for split wear testing this year.
I wonder how the Honda Civic TypeR landet in the statistics. ;)
