185/60 R14 Tire Review Highlights
Writing about the Continental UltraContact rated 84%
while driving a Mazda 323 BF
I bought these tires to replace an old set of Dunlops that were mounted when I bought the wheels these Ultracontacts are now mounted to. As my car only has 14 inch wheels, it's not easy to find tires that aren't budget offerings (I live in Europe), but these were one of the few premium tires I could get in the correct size. I drove on the (albeit old and lightly worn) Dunlops for about 2 months before replacing and the difference was immediately noticeable!

These tires are definitely way more than my almost 40 year old Mazda can handle, there are no issues with traction loss on the front wheels when powering out of tight corners in the dry (not a low bar to clear when the car has less than 75hp). They're a comfortable tire for long distances, not very noisy and they absorb bumps fairly well, although I would subjectively rate the Hankook Kinergy's on my other car higher in comfort. Only in the wet do you start to notice the tire struggle somewhat, but they always stay linear and predictable. I didn't have much issues when dealing with puddles at lower speeds as they are very predictable, but can struggle with aquaplaning when exceeding rural speeds.

After a little over 5000 miles in the past year I still haven't noticed any differences compared to when the tires were brand-new and they have only lost a bit of tread depth. I'm pretty sure I'll get at least a good 25k miles or another few years out of them before having to replace them, but I'd be happy to buy them again when the time comes!

Writing about the Vredestein Sportrac 5 rated 48%
while driving a Mazda MX5
Driving on mostly country roads for 2500 spirited miles
I am extremely disappointed in the Vredestein Sportrac 5 on my NA Miata. This tire has a very elastic feel in steering effort and response. The rear axle feels significantly delayed and lacks confidence. The tire has more than enough grip, but it lacks the feedback needed to feel how quickly the car will turn in resulting in multiple steering corrections to go maintain the desired path/pace through a corner. Even on center the tire feels vague and requires frequent corrections. Further disappointment comes from the underdamped ride with multiple secondary oscillations for each bump. Uniformity is also an issue as this tire has the worst level of the Miata's infamous 65 mph vibrations of any tires I've had on this car.

The only strengths I've found are low noise levels and good wet grip. There poor steering feel makes this grip just as unsatisfying as in dry grip, but at least these is no surprise loss of grip and progressiveness in wet conditions.

I will not keep these tires long enough to assess wear. This is the sort of tire I wish would wear faster so I can justify replacing them sooner. Overall I feel this is a low quality tire when considering the underdamped ride and vibrations.

while driving a Honda 1997 Honda Civic EJ9 1.4iS
Driving on a combination of roads for 25000 spirited miles
Great tires! I have been driving them now for 3rd season, dry grip feels great, not much experience on the wet grip but overall great tire considering its price range. I was kinda reserved about the Kumho brand, this is the first tire I have tried from Kumho and I would definitely buy them again. I got a new vehicle and these tire will be going to them also. The wear is also great. I was expecting to get worse with time but they still hold on and feel very responsible and adequate. They still have a lot of rubber left on them considering having driven 40k km on them.

Writing about the Nexen N Blue HD Plus rated 76%
while driving a SEAT ibiza 1.4
Driving on a combination of roads for 15000 average miles
I have a 2003 Seat Ibiza, I chose these tires in 2015 after using some Kumhos (which were quite decent). The handling is quite good, I occasionally drive in a more spirited way and only twice in 10 years have I heard them squealing in a corner and it was at a relatively low speed, 40-50 km/h, while still providing sufficient grip. So I'd say they give a good amount of confidence on dry roads and the grip limit is not low. They're far from the best in the wet, but its limits are more evident when there is a lot of standing water on the road, in which case I recommend to reduce your speed significantly. Comfort is decent but I can't say much because my car is not exactly comfortable and is a bit noisy as is so the tires don't really have much influence, but I'd say it's average.
Since I live in an area where it doesn't rain that much, I chose them again in 2022 after one of the tires got punctured. I would've had to change them anyway because of their age and low tread depth, I had covered 66k km with them so pretty satisfied with the wear. As of now, I've covered 19k km with them and all is fine. Definitely recommend them because of their high price/performance ratio, 4 tires were 210€ here in Italy.

Writing about the Dunlop SP Sport FM800 rated 80%
while driving a Toyota Corolla FXGT
Driving on a combination of roads for 12000 spirited miles
I've had the Dunlop SpSport FM800 for almost 2 years, I have done one trackday and many thousand kms of spirited driving, on backroads and even gravel tracks.
These tires grip surprisingly well on both wet and dry. Being very progressive at the limit and very predictable, I have pushed these tires hard on the track and they have never given me any grief, although my car isn't fast in a straight line I have modified it to be a backroad and corner specialist and these tires keep up. They also wear very well having done around 12,000 km on them and still have about 1mm left on the lowest tire. I would highly recommend and buy again but they are not available in my size in my country anymore :(

Writing about the Pirelli Cinturato P1 Verde rated 81%
while driving a Toyota Vios
Driving on a combination of roads for 15000 average miles
This is my second set of Pirelli P1s. It got good handling compared to other eco-grade tires. The sidewall is thick, it feels stable and solid while cornering. But this also comes with some bumpy feelings when driving on uneven roads. It is recommended to lower the cold tire pressure to 33-35 PSI, it would bring a more comfortable ride.

The wet grip is also excellent and feels safe in heavy rain conditions compare to Continetals' eco-grade tires. However, the road noise is relatively louder compared to its Japanese competitors (like Yokohama's ES32), this would be easily noticeable during highway driving conditions.

Since I don't care much about tire noise and will focus more on handling performance, I will still buy it on my next tire change.
If you are looking for a tire in the subcompact category that is sportier and has good wet performance. I think it would be a good choice.

Advantages: Good dry/wet grip and excellent handling
Disadvantages: Loud noise at high speed, a little bumpy on the uneven surface

Writing about the Continental ComfortContact CC6 rated 49%
Driving on a combination of roads for 24000 average miles
This tire remains quiet for the first 3 years and effectively absorbs road feedback, including minor uneven road surfaces, potholes, and bumps.

However, the wet grip of this CC6 tire is significantly lower compared to most other tires I have used before. This becomes particularly evident during instances of slippage in the front tire of my car, which does not have ABS system. This is especially noticeable when braking while making a large radius turn.

During these turns, when the car's weight transfers to the outside tire, the inner side tire experiences reduced load and tends to slip and lock the wheel, which can be quite dangerous.
