Fitment comes from each tire's manufactured size list, and the sizes are the ones drivers reported when they reviewed. Check the size, load index and speed rating on your own doorplate before buying - a size a previous owner ran is not always the size your car left the factory on.

How long do tires last on the Jaguar XF?

Across 17 end of life reviews from Jaguar XF drivers, a typical set of tires was worn out after 10,000 miles. Half of all worn-out sets lasted between 4,000 miles and 13,000 miles.

Distances are self-reported by drivers whose review marked the set as worn out; figures are medians, so a single unusual report cannot move them.

For performence - perfect
For comfort and noise - bad
For feedback - very good
For wear - very bad
For wet handling - perfect
For dry handling - perfect
If u want tire for performence at all cost this is the tire you, but u have to be ready to sacrifce everything else in the face of comfort, ,fuel consumption and definetly wear. The tire is incredible and feels totally planted on the road, but if u drive fast the wear is very fast. Regardless i highly recomend.

Michelin CrossClimate 3 Sport 255-35-20 Jaguar XF 200 miles October 6, 2026

My father bought some 255/35 R20 CrossClimate 3 Sport tires to replace some identical sized CrossClimate 2 tires (which are no longer available in this size). These are to go on his 8.5J alloys. All OEM as per manufacturer specifications. He bought them through BlackCircles and used their recommended local fitter.

These V3 Sport tires are very different from the V2, and very narrow in the contact patch. I measured the width of the contact patch at around 195mm maximum. On an 8.5J rim this means the sidewalls very visibly lean in towards the middle, basically they are "stretched" as per the questionable fashion statement. It also leaves the rim very exposed, with zero protection.

He queried this with BlackCircles, who said to go back to the original fitter to check. He took the wheel off, checked it was 8.5J, basically said every thing was OK as per specifications, fitted correctly, good to go. My father still wasn't happy, BlackCircles said to take the wheel to a different fitter on their books for a second opinion, this guy repeated the exercise and said all was correct.

I raised this with Michelin customer service, asking them the direct question if this tire labelled 255 wide was intended to have a contact patch only around 75% of that width, giving the stretched appearance and no rim protection. On request, I supplied pictures to them. This was their answer:

-------

The Technical Department informed us that Michelin is not aware of any manufacturing defects related to the 255/35 R20 97Y XL TL CROSSCLIMATE 3 SPORT (CAI: 876446). This tire has been engineered to safely fit and seal correctly on rim widths of 8.5J, 9J, 9.5J, and 10J.
All Michelin tires distributed within the European market are manufactured in accordance with the tolerances specified by the European Tire and Rim Technical Organization (ETRTO) and meet all relevant regulatory standards, including UNECE Regulation No. 30, which governs tire construction, performance, and marking. Compliance with these standards is evidenced by the ‘E’ mark approval number displayed on the tire sidewall. For this specific tire, the approval number is E20223414.
In some cases, replacement tires that differ from the vehicle’s original factory-fitted tires may exhibit slight variations in characteristics or appearance. Nonetheless, as long as the tire size, Load Index, and Speed Index conform to the vehicle manufacturer’s specifications, the tire is considered suitable for use on the vehicle.
------

Basically everyone is saying there is nothing wrong with this tire, it conforms to specifications and type approval. On that basis it looks like my father is stuck with them until he wears them out.

It may be a good tire, but I think prospective buyers should be aware what this tire **might** look like on their car. I'm not saying that all CC3S will look this way, it might depend on specific sizes, but this combination of 255/35 R20 on an 8.5J rim looks particularly bad and prone to being scratched up.

Buyers beware. Also note that Michelin think that from their answer above, that this 255/35 tire could be fitted to a 10J alloy. That would look absolutely ridiculous.

You might think that my father ordered the wrong size tire, or the alloy isn't 8.5J, or the wheels are staggered and the rears are wider than the fronts. You'll have to take my word for it that this has all been checked, and double checked, and everything is correct. It's just that the tire looks absolutely ridiculous and doesn't even appear to sit on the rim correctly. But we're assured by 2 tire fitters, BlackCircles and Michelin, that it's all OK.

I’ve had these on my Jaguar XF for 18 months and 9,000 miles now. I have to say I am very happy with them. Wet and dry grip is on a par with the Goodyear F1 Asymmetrics they replaced, but they are lasting much longer. Still around 4mm on each tire whereas the Goodyears were almost done by this point. Will buy again.

Pace ALVENTI Pace 285-40-20 Jaguar XF S 8,000 miles June 5, 2026
Have always bought continental sports for my car as its what it came with new. Every year since I have needed new tires, they wear fast and every MOT they failed with bulges in the wall. This year I bought Pace Alventis. They look great, handle the same if not better than the continental. They are super quiet on the mway, and 12 months later they still look new. Wet grip and winter ice not an issue handles great

Michelin Pilot Sport 5 245-40-19 Jaguar XF 10,000 miles January 17, 2026
They're really good tires in terms of driving, grip and handling and served me brilliantly on my 50:50 split of fast motorway commute and city driving

But...

I only got 10000 miles out of them on the rear axle of my car. They've worn more than twice as fast as the Michelin PS4s I previously had under the same driving style and driving conditions so consequently I feel they're poor value.

(I've checked and it's wear across the entire width of both tires and so it's not a suspension issue. They just wore out quickly)

Bought an XF with new tires on it hadn't heard of them but as I had bought the car in Spring, my thought was keep them on and if poor in wet ( not many tires nowadays are dangerous in dry) can change them in winter. All I can say is that I find them no worse than Kumho, Hankook, Landsail and any number of medium/budget brands till now. I have only had car for 7 months and probably about 4k mls but I won't be changing them. I have given 6's for most qualities mainly because the tire's are not Michelin/Goodyear quality but subjectively some of those could be 7's. Would I buy them again? not sure that will depend on how long they last, price and how they perform as they wear. Last word is I drive the car and don't even think about the tire's except when checking pressure

Tomket Sport Series 1 255-35-20 Jaguar XF S 2,000 miles May 9, 2025
The Tomket tires rated B & C @ £55 each replaced Pirelli's at £200 each, they are quieter, provide better ride comfort and handling. The grip is as good as Pirelli tires and for a budget tire they're tremendous value for money.

Fitted to 2014 Jaguar XF, replacing Goodyear Eagle Asymmetric 6s, and the difference is not that noticeable. Plenty of grip in the wet and dry, and good handling, although I drive fairly conservatively. Perfect for day to day use, and quite a bit cheaper than premium brands. Only unknown is wear as I’ve only had them for a month, but then the Goodyears tended to wear out fairly rapidly anyway.

Uniroyal RainSport 5 255-35-20- Jaguar XF 12,000 miles March 7, 2025
A quality tire that sits in the mid range bracket although not as cheap as other mid range competitors. Overall a very good tire in most areas but where it excels is in its resistance to aqua planning, it will not lose grip even when faced with large pools of water on a motorway. Would highly recommend as an alternative to some of the pricier brands!

Bridgestone Potenza Sport 245-40-19- Jaguar XF 3,000 miles February 18, 2025
Bought a set of these to replace a set of Goodride SA-37. Wow, these things are very sporting biased with grip levels in the dry/warm being absolutely stunning. In the wet they remain safe as houses and don't mind standing water either. All very good??? Not quite, as their performance quite dramatically drops of cliff when you get cold weather (im thinking anything a few degrees centigrade and below). Its not to the point of being dangerous (aka loosing traction), but there is noticeable difference in 'feel', as if the car is suddenly running on a set of super hard cheap rubber. I would never expect a tire to perform 'the same' in cold conditions but the change is quite disconcerting, especially when you are used to such a high amount of grip.....Adding half an inch of snow in to the mix resulted in a car that had zero braking at all which was quite shocking (I will now not even attempt to use the car if there is a hint of snow about..... Due to sporting nature, these are also fairly noisy and I also don't think they will last very long looking at the treadwear values...... I purchased these as I had such a good price on them (must have been a mis-price by retailer to be honest, at £70 odd quid a corner and then proceeded to knock £100 off a set of 4), but i would not buy again (at full price anyway), when Michelin Sport 5's or similar tires available at similar cost that may not be 'quite' so grippy in the warm, but less 'lifeless' in the cold an not 'lethal' in a snow flurry......
