Writing about the Radar Dimax 4 Season given 75% (225-45-16)

Writing about the Continental VikingContact 8 given 94% (195-65-15)
Just a note that this is my initial thoughts, after less than 2.000 km driven in the Nordic countries, in winter, under extreme snow and ice. I have driven multiple vehicles with studded tires, in the arctic circle, under extreme snow and ice conditions. The vikingcontact 8 matches the performance of the studded tires i have used on the past, with superior handling in harsh winter conditions. I used them on a trip in Swedish lapland, in -25C and with severe ice on the road, and could go over 80 km/h with safety. They offer superior handling, makes you feel safe where most tires would struggle. I did the same trip with normal mid-european tires, and the difference in traction and handling is night and day. Great grip, amazing handling, good braking. Overall an amazing winter tire for the nordic area. Not tested in dry, as it's impossible to find a dry road in the arctic circle during winter time. I highly recommend them.

Writing about the Michelin Alpin 7 given 77% (195-65-15)
Used them all over Europe, plus the Nordic region. Very good in dry and wet. Decent grip and handling in little snow and slush conditions. But in the cold winters of Sweden and Norway, where snow and ice is the norm, a nordic winter tire is highly recommended. So after moving to Scandinavia, i had to replace them with the ContactViking 8, as the Michelin's ice and deep snow grip was non-existent. Overall, a very good tire for south-mid european winters, where rain and cold is the norm. Just avoid them if you are in a Nordic country, as the ice traction and handling is not enough.

Driving on a combination of roads for 10000 easy going miles
Last Summer: Only done 2000 miles to date. But seems a well rounded touring tire. Exceptionally quiet and comfortable. Very strong in the dry but a little weak I think on wet braking. Steering more vague than old worn tire but that is mostly due to approx 8 mm new tread. Recommended
Update June 2025. Done about 8000 miles. Very well balanced tire. Exceptionally quiet and comfortable. 8 mm original tread done to circa 7.2 mm with about equal mileage on front and rear axle. Incredible wear. Just fitted two more to car.

Writing about the Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymmetric 6 given 49% (225-40-18-)
Driving on mostly country roads for 5000 spirited miles
TL;DR: A safe yet annoying to drive tire.

Exact tire label: 225/40R18 92Y XL FP "Made In Germany"
I'll start with the positive: these tires feel very safe in almost all conditions, even in light winter conditions.
They also feel safe on wet roads, both on lightly damp roads and in deep standing water, with very good aquaplaning resistance.

The dry grip is quite enjoyable in summer conditions, they steer very light and easy, my steering wheel became lighter after mounting these tires.

Now I have to address my negative experiences with these tires:
I immediately heard more rolling noise compared to the Michelin PS4 that these tires replaced, however the bump absorption and road feel is much better compared to PS4, they feel much softer.
On rough roads these Eagles sound like there's a window open, it's more of a heavy whooshing noise instead of a high pitch rolling noise.
Even Continental WinterContact TS850 P were much more comfortable and silent to drive on this car than the Eagle Asy6.

On wet roads and even on cold dry concrete roads the cornering traction is totally lacking, the tire feels like it's locking up as soon as it looses a little grip and it takes away all your speed causing very jerky grip when trying to corner fast, you can really feel the compound of this tire is not made for progressiveness during cornering.

Overall I'm extremely disappointed, they don't excel as a Touring tire neither as a Performance tire, it's hybrid tire that only excels at safety only in my opinion.

Driving on a combination of roads for 4000 average miles
I purchased these tires this winter and have been very impressed with their performance. They provide excellent grip on both dry and wet surfaces, as well as on the light snow we experienced this season. I tested their limits and found that they only begin to exhibit slight understeer when exceeding the speed limit by 50% in corners. These tires are ideal for drivers who prioritize a defensive driving style.

Driving on a combination of roads for 20000 average miles
I saw many excited reviews about primacy4 and I thought I 've found the best tire. It is not the best. Sometimes it isn't even good. I felt many times, even though I wasn't driving fast enough, that the tire was loosing road contact. I get the feeling that if I try to test it's handling limits, I will end up on the edge of the road.

Driving on a combination of roads for 25000 average miles
I bought them brand new at a stupid low price. Situation and thoughts after 3 winters - they started great, absolutely great. However....
I never drive like a lunatic, but I have never felt secure that they will get me out of a corner if I mess it up due to lack of feedback (65 wall) but on couple of occasions I went into a corner way too fast and they didn´t even squeak and just pulled me out. Gradually they turned into an average tire. Now (4th winter though) they feel like an old all season tire - they slip, they lack grip and are louder than before (my hearing is not getting stronger). Perhaps the rubber is not good after this much time, it just looses grip. The other day my car completely failed to stop on a slippery road in 1st gear at the lights from 10km/h and it just went into the rear of a small renault with all season tires that DID stop on the spot, not even the ABS worked. Only the registration plate plastic got cracked so... But this morning in similar conditions it went from 50 to 0 on a wet downhill at 0 degrees in about 2-3 seconds with some distance to spare to the car in front so I guess they still can work. Ice grip is always poor on all tires.
Conclusion - do not buy old never worn tires, they don´t feel secure at all after the second year.

Driving on mostly motorways for 2500 easy going miles
The dry grip is okay for someone that drives in normal and relaxing style. Havent really properly pushed it in wet driving, but on low speeds it wasnt anything wrong to note. Comfort over bumps is adequate considering the low profile rims. Wear is too early to assess.

The problem for me is the noise they make. On smooth roads it's perfectly fine, but even on little rougher asphalt the resonating noise sometimes can be unbearable. This is of course even more noticeable on highway speeds. I don't know if it's the car making that or not, but to me it sounds really bad. Note that they are factory equipped on a 2024 i30 Facelift model.
