Uniroyal RainSport 5
WatchThe Uniroyal RainSport 5 is a summer ultra high performance tire with a clear focus on wet-weather safety. In real-world use and independent testing it stands out for strong aquaplaning resistance and reassuring grip in heavy rain, giving drivers a confident, secure feel on soaked roads. It also tends to be comfortable and reasonably quiet for everyday driving. The trade-off is that it's not as sharp or stable as the best rivals when pushed on dry roads, and wear/longevity can disappoint.

Review Summary
Based on 79 user reviews
Drivers generally describe the Uniroyal RainSport 5 as a wet-weather specialist, repeatedly praising its strong grip in heavy rain and excellent resistance to aquaplaning, while remaining solid and safe for everyday dry driving. Comfort and noise levels are often rated positively, and many feel it offers strong value versus premium rivals. The most consistent downsides are a soft sidewall that can make steering feel vague/floaty (especially when driven hard or on some RWD cars) and tread life that many find shorter than premium alternatives.
Strengths
- Excellent wet grip and confidence in rain
- Strong aquaplaning resistance in standing water
- Comfortable ride quality
- Generally low/acceptable road noise
- Good value for money versus premium brands
- Decent dry grip for normal road driving
Areas for Improvement
- Soft sidewalls leading to vague handling/steering feel and reduced precision
- Faster tread wear/shorter longevity than expected (especially versus premium tires)

I was looking for a good handling, good feedback sporty tires with good wet grip, to use them daily and on wet track days. Unfortunately, the sidewall is way too soft for the track - it ruins suspension upgrades. I won't wait until the tread wears out, so I will sell used RainSports 5, and swap them for Kumho Ecsta HS52 or Vredestein Ultrac.

TOO SOFT for 1650kg car, dunno what else to say. Ill never buy them again.
Dry, wet, breaking... excellent. Durability 0!
Rainsport 4s I couldn't fault them in any way they were brilliant and to add to the brilliant tires they were the cheapest tire at the time of any named brand.
So thought the rainsport 5s would be even better and the tread pattern was changed as well, I thought it didn't look as good as the 4s but thought Uniroyal know what there doing .
That's where my love ended with them when I put the 5s on my car became horrible to drive, in any condition if I were on a motorway, wet or dry the car would need constantly correcting as if there were something wrong with the car, like something loose not a good feeling like drifting vaguely when it felt planted on the 4s.
My car is a focus ST3 in excellent condition so it shouldn't act like it does, I definitely won't be buying Uniroyal rainsport 5s again
The grip is also equally bad in wet and dry conditions. My car is breaking traction over taking on dual carridge ways and motorways. Pulling away isnt so bad but still not great.
Removed after 650 miles and taken a loss. Would rather fit acceleras
