245/45 R20 Tire Review Highlights
Writing about the Michelin Pilot Sport EV
rated 66%
General Performance & Driving Style
Mileage & Age: Purchased in August 2024. Currently at 40,000 km.
Driving Style: Generally calm driving, with occasional hard acceleration when needed.
Treadwear: The tires have worn down to about half their original depth, so I expect to get significant additional mileage from them.
Performance vs. Pilot Sport 4 SUV
Comfort & Noise: The comfort and noise levels are acceptable. Honestly, I don't feel they are significantly stronger or quieter than the PS4 SUV they replaced.
Energy Consumption: The energy consumption feels about the same as the PS4 SUV. I haven't noticed a major improvement in range, which was one of the main reasons for choosing an EV-specific tire.
️ Wet & Winter Traction
Wet Grip: Under hard acceleration on wet roads, the tires still break traction and spin(PS4SUV won't). It's manageable but not exceptionally confidence-inspiring.
Winter Grip: As expected for a summer performance tire, they offer no grip on snow whatsoever ("sliding for sure").
Verdict
After 40,000 km, the PSEV is a competent tire, but for me, it hasn't proven to be a major upgrade over the excellent PS4 SUV. While it handles the demands of an EV and has decent longevity, the promised benefits in efficiency and refinement over its non-EV counterpart are not very noticeable in real-world use. It's a good tire, but perhaps not the revolutionary step up I had hoped for.

General Performance & Longevity
Mileage & Age: Purchased in September 2021, production date 0521. Currently at 95,000 km.
Driving Style: Mostly gentle driving, with occasional hard acceleration when necessary.
Dry/Wet: Surprisingly good grip in the rain; not prone to hydroplaning.
Comfort: Noise and comfort levels are acceptable/average.
️ Winter Performance (Latitude 40°N)
Conditions: Average winter temp of -7°C.
Traction: As expected for non-winter tires, they struggle significantly on snow ("sliding for sure").
Braking: Noticeable increase in braking distance in cold weather. I actually had a minor rear-end collision due to extended braking distance, costing me $50 in damages.
️ Durability & Weaknesses
Sidewall: The sidewalls are quite soft. This is the tire's biggest weakness.
Damage: I have scrapped 2 tires due to curb rash. One had exposed cords, and the other had a direct puncture in the sidewall.
Aging: The tread is now showing fine cracks (or weather cracks), likely accelerated by the freezing winter temperatures.
Verdict
After 5 years, they are definitely due for replacement. While the longevity is impressive, the soft sidewalls and lack of cold-weather braking safety are significant downsides.
Maybe I should repace a all season tire.

Tires are mounted on the new Hyundai Santa Fe PHEV. As for the feedback, is hard to tell because Santa Fe is just too big and too heavy to experience any feedback driving iat normal speeds.
In every other aspect the tires exceeded all my expectations. Especially because I've got them for only 180 Chf for a tire

Funny how specific tires seem to be made for specific cars. Bridgestone Alenza 001 (non run flat!) feel way better than Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymmetric 6 under my BMW iX3. Far more comfortable and silent and good grip.

We have tested the tires for 4000 km in a mixture of roads.
The weather conditions were wet and dry below 10 deg Celsius, but no snow or ice.
At highway speeds the tires had a good comfort and low noise. The braking distance was decent.
In the city, the tires had excellent behaviour filtering the bumps and roughness of the surface very well.
On twisted roads is the place where these tires shine. Their grip is excellent both on wet and dry, the road feedback is very good and the noise is practically null.

Soft and round tire with a marque name. Ride and look great on my Charger R/T

These are OEM tires for an EV and try to strike a balance between performance, comfort, and efficiency. The sidewalls look pretty good and they’ve got decent rim protection. Dry and wet performance are fine, but not particularly notable. Efficiency is also fine with better range than the all weather Michelin CrossClimate2 tires I use for winter.

Replaced factory fit Continental Contisport Contact 5 on a Skoda Kodiaq. Brilliant all round tire across most measures. Handling not quite as sharp as the Continentals with more sidewall compression on turn-in but the ride is better. Virtually no wear after 5,000km.

Very good tires at a very affordable price.
Comparing it with my previous Toyo Proxes SUV. Initial feel this Giti S2 SUV is better. EV ready tires is made for low noise, better low resistance and better grip.

Had the tires installed for about 500 miles, mostly commuting miles with some fun backroads in between. Grip level in the dry is solid, it's not a summer tire so temper expectations but for an all-season they are good. No issues in the wet either but haven't had much experience in the rain yet. Noise is good, but there's no foam or anything so it's likely higher than a deliberately quiet tire, but I have no issues with the noise generated.

tried this tire on 2022 Geely tugella 4wd SUV . very good Tire and i recommended this tire to all Tugella owners ( mid price for high quality tire ) now running 83,000 KM on my car but its the end of its life started to crack and lose some of its traction ( but it still grabs very good but not like it was before ) very good tire

Bought 3 sets of those and considering they are 1/3 the price of my Michelin PS4s they are great. They are not as trippy as the Michelin but they are 85% there. Good aquaplaning resistance, good wet performance and not noisy (Michelin is quieter though). They will last about 30k miles depending on how spirited is your driving.
Overall great buy.
