Ford S Max Tire Review Highlights
I've now done around 16.000 km / 10.000 miles across all possible conditions, from hot summer to a very snowy winter and can say that it is a fantastic product for normal daily driving. My impressions:
- In summer it feels like a comfort oriented touring tire, which is absolutely fine for an all-season. The grip it there if you push it, it will flex a lot, but it will hold traction very well,
- In the wet it's very impressive, even in cold. The comparison to my previous Michelin Cross Climate 2 is like night and day,
- In snow it fells like an OK/average winter tire, which I think is very good for an all-season. I did try it in all kinds of snow, ice and mud, even on a completely white road in the mountains and didn't any problems with setting off, stopping or turning.
You have to keep in mind that this is not a sports tire, it will not give you any sporty feel, but it's not designed to do so. However, for normal, daily driving, it's very, very good, the first one in my life I could really call an all-season, because it's performing well in all conditions. The previous generation of all-season tires (like the Cross Climate 2 I had) always had a weak spot, but this one doesn't really have one. I am yet to measure the wear, but an eyeball test tells me it's not bad.

Tires will last about 50k km's wich is OK for my driving style, although not exceptional. They give a very stable feel and good steering precision, I love the way they handle roundabouts and corners. The tires combined with the excellent suspension on the car makes it feel like a much smaller, agile car. They feel very stable on the highway. In the wet, they give a bit less confidence but would still classify as good performers. Overall a nice, more sporty tire than the name suggests. They are a bit on the firm side but still acceptable, same story with the noise. A little step up in comfort would be welcome for the next tires.

Less than 10K done and the tires are nearly worn. Won't buy again for that money

I work in a tire shop and sell a few Pirelli tires, bought some for my s max and they are phenomenal, had them on 3 month so far and can’t fault them, wet grip is almost as good as Bridgestones road noise has reduced a lot, will buy again

Had these on my car last year after doing some research I didn't want to spend £200 on winter tires so bought these... let me tell you you will never look back, we had some snow and a few cars was stuck but not me!! These are amazing in the snow will stick with these every year.. my only advice is change all 4 not just your front as you find you have that good of grip on your front your back end just spins out, this will happen trust me.

(6K miles/year, mainly urban)
Grip was excellent as to be expected based on the recommendation from the garage. However, the fronts lasted six months! Yes, we barley got six months and the tread was gone completely. The rear tires had minimal wear. The rears were swapped to the front and lasted another six months. These tires are not suited for heavy load vehicles such as the S-Max. Also be aware, both sets of tires caused a very worrying vibration over 40mph which disappeared at 60mph and above. Replaced with Hankook S1 EVO2 94w tires. The fronts lasted one year. Best tires to date have been a set of General Altimax 98W XL. These are slightly noisier tires but lasted 1.5 yrs.

Good tire. Awful value for money!
They're not bad. But they're not great. At all.
Hugely expensive and therefore very disappointing. Impression that they are melting onto the road in got weather.
Wear is the same as a budget tire.
Handling good, but not progressive enough at the limit. Heavy steering feel and only good in wet. Nothing like the old conti 2's back in the day. If you drive or park on loose gravel, you'll be spending more time picking out pieces of gravel from the tires than driving due to groove sizes.
More than half worn after 20,000 Km Mostly smooth French motorways with some very spirited A road driving thrown in.

An ok tire for road feedback, its happy to munch up the miles and gives me a good drive in dry conditions. Now any orher conditions other than hot and very dry roads these tires are simply awful. Ive covered a few thousend miles and have had enough of the very dangerous feelings when in wet or cold conditions. Ive seen shoping trollies doing less understeer than these tires fitted to my smax 2.0 tdci. I wont ever purchess again (accelera are ditch finders) overall rating an honest 5/10. 0/10 rating for wet grip. Crazy dangerous tire for english weather DO NOT BUY.

I have been driving 225/50 17 98 XL FR tire for three years. Amazing wet grip, maybe not so amazing in the last season - the tire became hard...

Too soft. Awful value for money. Wheel spin without much effort. Fine if they were 50 quid each. So, given the price, terrible.
Very unhappy. Don't feel safe with speed or hard cornering. Don't trust them at all.
I drive on country roads and motorways...lots.
All over France.
Done 20000 miles in 6 months. They won't last long.
