Ask a questionI have a BMW G20 RWD (250 hp). I’m currently using Pirelli Cinturato C3 (225/50 R17 98Y) and find them a bit noisy on rough roads. Comfort and low cabin noise are my main priorities. Would Michelin Primacy 5 in the same size be a noticeable improvement in ride comfort and road noise? Also, is there any real-world downside to buying a set with two tires made in 2025 and two made in 2026, assuming all four are brand new and identical? Thanks!
I have a BMW G20 RWD (250 hp) on 225/50 R17. I switched to Pirelli Cinturato C3-grip is great but it feels a bit firm and less refined on rough roads. In Istanbul traffic, comfort matters more than sharp steering. Would you choose Michelin Primacy 5 or BMW * Primacy 4 OEM?
The C3 isn't an overly firm tire. Have you checked pressures?

I’ve had them on for about 400 klms and will be returning to the tire shop to have them returned. Other than the tire noise they are ok in other areas.

Very good to excellent, even when driving spiritedly on twisty roads.
Wet Grip:
Very good straight-line aquaplaning resistance. On twisty roads at average to spirited speeds, they make that “I’m losing grip” noise, but they actually don’t slip at all. Still, the sound makes me feel a bit insecure, so I tend to lower the speed.
Noise:
Compared to the OEM Falken SN832B they replaced, they are one level noisier in town, but it’s a premium, low-pitch noise that you get used to over time. However, they really impressed me with how quiet they are on the highway! I think these tires are primarily made for cruising. I don’t think there is a quieter tire above 120 km/h on the market — the only thing you hear is aerodynamic noise.
Keep in mind my car is a latest-generation full hybrid, so it’s very quiet and even minor tire noise is noticeable.
Comfort:
My previous tires were soft. The Primacy 5 are a bit firmer, BUT the way they absorb imperfections and the overall driving feel at the end of the day is actually more comfortable and pleasant than before. I don’t know how the engineers managed it, but they succeeded — I think they really shine in this segment and might be the most comfortable tire on the market.
Wear:
They’re made to last 50,000+ km, so after just 5,000 km they show almost no wear. That said, be patient and give them 2,000–3,000 km to show their virtues. I keep the manufacturer’s recommended pressures, which seem to work perfectly for the car and for my preference as well: 2.5 bar front, 2.4 bar rear.
Very easy driving, low noise and good rolling resistance. Stable on wet conditions, and haven't experienced any skidding. Durability have to be accessed later but so far no problems.
I've driven so far 11,000 miles on nordic roads of variable conditions consisting of smaller communal roads, highways, towns etc. Road feedback seems nearly perfect to me.
