Michelin Primacy 5 Reviews - Page 2

Given 73% while driving a Tesla 2024 Model 3 RWD (235/45 R18) on a combination of roads for 6,000 average miles
After 10,000 km, the Michelin Primacy 5 proves to be an excellent all-rounder for daily driving. Road noise is impressively subdued, enhancing cabin comfort even at highway speeds. The tire delivers a smooth, comfortable ride, absorbing road imperfections with ease. Rolling resistance is commendably low as well. Not the most ideal if you are looking for a sporty tire

Given 41% while driving a Volkswagen Passat B8 1.6TDI BMT 120PS (235/45 R18) on mostly motorways for 8,000 average miles
I previously commented after driving it for 1,500 km. I've now driven it for 8,000 km. It didn't meet my expectations. It's the most problematic Michelin I've ever driven! The handling on dry roads is poor! On brand new pavement, it spins like a bald tire when you stop at a red light and start, and the tire barely grips when starting uphill. It skids when braking. I feel uneasy driving on the road. It's a bit better in the wet than in the dry. The best part is that it's quieter than the ones I've used before. I think the factory should check this series! I consider it a product that doesn't suit the brand.

Given 93% while driving a Toyota RAV4 (235/55 R19) on a combination of roads for 1,000 spirited miles
Replaced original Yokohamas on a Rav4 Plugin Hybrid (Rav4 Prime).
Much more surefooted in torrential rain, felt like driving on a dry road surface.
Very predictable and assured handling with more feel and also a sense of connectedness. I was very surprised at their effectiveness in the rain and their ability to clear standing water. Highly reassuring.

The Rav4 isn't a performance vehicle, but the handling has been significantly improved. Where the old ones felt skittish and struggled for grip out of turns and corners, with a dose of understeer, these just hook up and go.
On initial turn in they are not as sharp as something like a Pilot Sport tire, but do have the edge in handling over CrossClimate2 (on the other car).

What's also very noticeable is the signifiant reduction in noise - these are very quiet tires (ideal for an electric vehicle) and they seem to be more adept at soaking up road imperfections and transmitting far less intrusion into the cabin.

Mileage in electric mode appears to be unchanged, so no complaints there.
Overall very impressed with these and would definitely purchase again.

Given 91% while driving a Mazda 6 (225/50 R18) on mostly motorways for 4,500 spirited miles
Previously was using primacy 4 for 57k km for 3yrs plus. It was a very durable tire, good dry/wet grip thus i change to primacy 5 recently.

Compare to 4, this is an upgrade. Quieter, better grip n more comfortable, maybe this is new. And wat i like abt Michelin is, they have very flat n sporty sidewalls.

Given 80% while driving a Lexus ES300H (235/45 R18) on mostly motorways for 40 average miles
Now almost 1K km after first installation replacing my Pilot Sports 5. I am sharing my experience in direct comparison to the PS5. Impressed with how tires maintain grip on exceptionally wet road conditions (am from the tropical world). Going over a puddle of water made me realised that the car does not experience as much drag as my previous PS5. Great water dispersion / evacuation. Aqua planning resisting is good, and that is of paramount importance.
Handling and feel are not as good as PS5, at least to me, a small sacrifice as i am not exactly an aggressive driver. I put emphasis on safety, comfort and durability.
Rolling resistance is obvious, something you can feel, not just a number or a factor given by the manufacturer. It glided smoothly on the road, and as a bonus, tires are so quiet and feels so supple, my car is now super comfy.
I have been driving over 40 years, and have used numerous tires made by major brands (i will spare you the details) and i can attest that the Primacy P5 is the best set of tires i have used todate, PROVIDED, that they last as long as what Michelin claimed.
But until then, I am fully loving those new tires whole heartedly.

Given 95% while driving a Nissan X Trail 2.5 petrol (215/60 R17) on a combination of roads for 2,000 spirited miles
Best tire so far. Noise level is very good, very comfortable for the passenger. Excellent confident wet grip in heavy rain, with no sign of aquaplanning. Wall is not too hard and not too soft, just perfect in SUV with no feedback to the steering wheel but still able to do sudden manouver.

For the price, I think it's the best tire you can get with such comfort and grip.

Driven around 3500km so far and no sign of wear on the tire. I think it will last for long.

Given 100% while driving a Toyota Corolla (205/55 R16) on a combination of roads for 5,000 average miles
I bought Michelin-Primacy-5 tires and had them shipped from Italy for my new Corolla before it had 5,000 miles on it. Since I live in Missouri I have a set of snow tires mounted on a set of wheels that were the winter set for my previous Corolla and have one more winter left in them so I did not need all-season tires. I was surprised that the car could squeal the OEM all-season tires during hard acceleration and turning in the rain however now that the Michelin-Primacy-5 tires are mounted the car does not have enough power to break traction under full acceleration in a turn in the rain. I have seen the difference in budget vs premium tires depicted in tire reviews online but did not expect to be able to feel the difference myself.

Given 94% while driving a Volvo XC40 (235/50 R19) on mostly motorways for 3,700 average miles
MY Volvo XC40 AWD has been driven mostly on highways and this spring I was wondering what to replace my good Continentals with, so I thought I might give this new Michelins a try. Gosh, these tires are super silent! I've been driving on some silent tires before but these are great! At first I thought they're not good at handling, but then I realized I'm going 20% faster than usual, because I was relying solely on the noise :)))
These are silent (even on highways) and pretty soft, so driving on highways is super comfortable. I cal also feel my AWD is like on rails while driving on local roads and I've never been able to loose a grip. Going through puddles on highway is like going on normal wet roads, without any resistance. After almost 4k miles I didn't notice they're worn at all and hope will last for 40k miles more. Hope I will be back here in a year or two with some more useful information, without any disappointments.

Given 97% while driving a Volvo v70 D5 (205/55 R16) on a combination of roads for 2,000 easy going miles
Absolutely fantastic tires with extremely low rolling resistance yet still excellent grip. It practically powers our Volvo V70 through fast corners, and on the highway, it reduces fuel consumption by about 0.5 liters per 100km compared to the previously fitted Premacy 4 tires, which were showing their age (10+ years old).

Given 92% while driving a Toyota Corolla Cross (215/60 R17) on a combination of roads for 30 spirited miles
Changed from factory custom tires(Bridgestone Alenza)for Corolla Cross . Bridgestone Alenza was one of the worst tires I ve ever used.

The change is dramatic . It is hard to hear road noise below 100 km , above 100 km noise level is very low. The comfort is perfect . While I did not try on wet , dry handling is better than Alenzas. I will update when I try on wet. I believe it will be much better than custom Alenzas.

Given 91% while driving a Honda HRV 2022 (225/50 R18) on a combination of roads for 2,200 average miles
I have currently driven 3500 km, mostly on highways and country roads. My car is a full-hybrid Honda, which can go few kilometers in electric-mode; I don't drive "racing mode" but not even "grandpa style"; just enjoying the pleasure of driving. These Primacy are really quiet, you almost can't even hear a rolling noise when driving with open windows on a good asphalt; on poor roads, more noise can be heard. On wet, it mostly feels like you are driving on dry asphalt, considering traction and stability. In the very early kilometers, tires gave a "metallic" hard feeling, which disappeared in few weeks.

Given 93% while driving a Subaru Outback 3.0L (225/60 R17) on mostly town for 0 average miles
Recently changed from primacy 3 to 5s. I was always satisfied with the 3s but the 5s really are a step up. The ride feel and roll resistance are excellent. My fuel consumption has definitely improved. I can't comment on it's wet weather performance yet (it's currently a bit dry in Australia) but it feels sure footed in the dry. It definitely feels like a premium tire
