Mazda 3 SkyactiV Tire Review Highlights

This is just an initaial review. I fitted them 1,5 weeks ago since then I have driven in every road condition. In the dry it is perfect compared to my previous Bridgestone Turanza. Lot of grip and the steering is predictable but not with the most feedback. That is not a problem for me. During the corners the car is so stable and i took every one with ease, it is so fun. The biggest upgrade from the Bridgestones is the wet performance. Driving swiftly is so easy with these tires, in the corners there is no slipping or anything like that. My car is FWD and ZERO understeer during wet cornering also on older bad tarmac. For braking, i had to stop quickly only one time. It was safe and that is the most important thing for me. Aquaplaning performance also very impressive, you can go through the water without any slip or “swimming”. Compared to my winter set which is a 205/60 R16 the comfort is also great in my opinion. On my previous car I had the Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymmetric 5 and on my fathers car there were a set of Michelin Pilot Sport 4. Both of them were pretty good tires and this Hankook evo is in the same league as the PS4 and the Asymmetric 5. Next year i will write a long term review about wear and worn performance. I would recommend this Hankooks for everyone who is looking for a great everyday tire with sporty driving characteristics and i think for hot hatches like a Hyundai i20N or more powerful vehicles it also a great choice.

I had read the previously good reviews of this tire and to be fair, the handling and grip in the dry are decent. However, it has a Jekyl and Hyde personality and in the wet the lack of grip is absolutely shocking. It feels more like a low end budget tire in the wet, scrambling for grip when pulling onto roundabouts and from junctions at at a quite ordinary pace. Cornering in the wet is a nerve shredding experience, again due to the shocking lack of grip. Definitely not a repeat purchase.

These were mounted on my 2016 Mazda 3 when I recently bought it used. Tires were brand new. Have driven approx 1000km so far, so these are initial impressions. Fine value tire for commuting. Soft sidewalls, so comfort is good. Fuel economy also seems to be good. Steering response and handling not so sharp, but ok. They're not sporty tires. Noise level seems acceptable on all but the roughest asphalt. Grip in wet and dry seems acceptable. The one time the car did start to slide in the wet, it was progressive and predictable. Too early to comment on wear

Writing about the Davanti DX390 given 42% (205-60-16-)

These were fitted to the front of my Mazda 3 by the dealer I bought from and replaced after 1200 miles. Dry grip is actually pretty good but poor in the wet when pushing on, wet roundabouts could be a bit hairy. Handling and steering response were reasonable although they did tend to understeer a little. Biggest problem was on motorways, a bit twitchy at moderate speeds and floaty at higher speeds. Not confidence inspiring. I also found them noisy and uncomfortably harsh over bumps. They have been replaced with Toyo Proxes CF2's and the difference is like night and day. The car is now quiet, comfortable, and handles extremely well in all conditions. For a budget tire they are not that bad but I still wouldn't recommend them.
