I really love these tires, Superb grip on both dry/wet tarmac and dusty/gravel roads! Plus they look amazing, the tread is super cool and they have a nice fit on the wheel, i dig the fact that Uniroyal make tires wider from other companies in the same size. The car feels secure like train on rails and i drive flat out! Astonishing braking and delightful handling. The only drawback is the fuel economy i guess but it's a small price to pay for such an magnificent tire.Too bad that i cant find them new anymore.

The tires were fitted to a Polo Classic 1.9TDI.
Its heavy at the front end, so to be fair, they lasted 20K.
If you compare a set of Michelin energy saver last 32tK.
A Great wet,and bad weather tire.

Very good in the wet, even with pouring summer rain.
Low noise, including at high speeds on motorways.

Uncomfortable and stiff over bumps and potholes, as the sidewall is not very tall.
Feedback is not what is should be, and they do wear rather fast.

Astonishing tires provided that you evaluate them in terms of wet/rain tire category not dry racing tire. Sometimes they may feey inflated then you better pump them up till max load of your car in advance.
They are not especially responsive and agile when tarmac is hot but... theres is something of great great quality about these tires when road becomes colder and slippy. Lower temperature diminishes the apparent effect of inflation as the rubber compound turns bit stiffer. To my mind, on classic sporty FWD car (DC2) they possess the quality which I do appreciate much and much. Not in terms of racing them but in terms of super safe, solid tire for autumn, snowless winter and spring

Fitted them back in 2001 and since then i go with them (only yesterday i changed to RainExpert). Tires have very good grip, in dry equal to other good brands, in wet far better than any other. They are very quiet and comfy due to their soft sidewall. They give a good feedback and they get warm pretty fast and give very good braking. I am very pleased with them

Ps. Intended for some 'evaluators'. Evaluating a tire while fitting only two tires instead of a set, is at least dumb

Had 2 of these fitted to front end with 2 part worn Dunlops at rear, I had all on keeping the car in a straight line on the motorway, it felt as though the tires were only half inflated, they weren't. Back to the garage to have everything checked all was OK. I tolerated this for about 4k to see if they would bed in but no change so I swapped them to the rear still the same feeling. I put them back on the front and just wore them out as fast as possible. Had 4 Toyo Proxes CF1 fitted and it was such a relief to have the car drive in a straight line again without constant correction, wear looks to be heading for about 25-28k for the Toyo's

If you have a Golf Tdi 130 Estate do NOT have these tires.

i put two 550 uniroyal tyers on the front of this car drove it on wet west of ireland roads during summer. i push this car all the time great tires for the front of this model. i now have put them on the back and two new ones one the front, car very quiet and responsive i trust these tires at speeds, i wont mention. overall great value.

The Rallye 550 gives confident wet weather grip for both cornering and braking. I believe the feedback is a little bit vague on twisty B roads but a quiet drive is experienced on motorways.
The dry grip is decent but the rubber is a little bit soft resulting in below average tire wear. However I can live with this trade-off as the overall package is good.
Price is another good point allowing me to purchase for slightly under ?50 fully fitted.
