Featured: The Best All Season Tires for 2024

For the longest time the Michelin CrossClimate 2 has been the best all season / all weather tire on the market, winning more tests than any other tires in its category, including my tests for the last 3 years!

However, since last year's test there have been not one, not two, but three new premium all season tires launched, all looking to dethrone the CrossClimate 2 from its category top spot.

Naturally I had to find out whether any of these new tires from Bridgestone, Continental and Pirelli can match the Michelin, so as usual I'll be testing everything, including wear, to see which is best! And I've also thrown in a couple of tires Dunlop and Yokohama, because why not.

Can any of these new tires really challenge the CrossClimate 2, or are they all going to be left wanting for more?

Featured: 2023 Tire Reviews All Season Tire Test

For the 2023/24 season, Tire Reviews has tested ten of the very best all season tires available. Following on from last years test in 17", this year we focused on the smaller 15" wheel size, and included summer and winter reference tires to highlight exactly what the best all season tire is for your driving, and where summer and winter tires fit into the overall performance.

As always, this is one of the most in depth all season tire tests on the internet, and each of the ten sets of tires are tested in the dry, wet and snow, plus the tires subjective noise and comfort and rolling resistance (energy use) is also tested.

As everyone's driving situation is a little different, you can also adjust the overall score weighting of the test below so you really can find the perfect tire for your own driving needs.

Last year the Michelin CrossClimate 2 won for the second year in a row. Can it make it three of three?

Featured: 2023 Tire Reviews Performance Tire Test

On test we have the latest and greatest 18" sports tires from Bridgestone, Continental, Goodyear, Hankook, Michelin and Yokohama. As usual we'll be covering every aspect of the tires performance, including the wet performance, dry grip, internal noise, comfort, rolling resistance and the all important wear!

Featured: 2023 Tire Reviews Best Summer Tires

In this test, we'll be finding out what the best premium touring summer tires on the market are!

I'm going to try and keep this as condensed as I possibly can as we have 13 sets of tires in this test including the newest and best from Continental, Michelin, Hankook, Pirelli, Bridgestone, Vredestein, Kumho, Toyo, Nankang and more! This should also be the world's first test of the Continental PremiumContact 7!

Featured: 2022 Tire Reviews UUHP Summer Tire Test

It's the 2022 Tire Reviews Ultra-Ultra High Performance Summer Tire Test! You can watch the video here, or scroll down for the full write up and data!

In this tire test, I'll be testing ten of the most popular ultra-ultra high performance tires on the market to find out exactly what tire is best at what.

2024 Summer SUV Tire Test

In a data-extravaganza, Autobild have taken eleven SUV summer tires in the popular 235/55 R19 size, and even though this size is an ultrahigh performance fitment, and is fitted to soft-roaders such as the Audi Q5, BMW X3, Honda CR-V and many others, tested them exhaustively in off-road tests along with the usual dry and wet testing!

2024 Sport Auto Summer Tire Test

The 2024 summer tire test conducted by Sport Auto magazine compared five premium-category summer tires against an all-season tire on a Hyundai i20 N. The test aimed to determine if the all-season tire could compete with the best summer tires had to offer during warm (approximately 25c / 77f air temperature) conditions.

2024 Sports Car Tire Test

Every year Autobild Sports Cars aims to go big, and this year they've literally have, testing UUHP summer tires! In search for the sportiest performance tire, they used a Mercedes AMG test vehicle which is fitted with 265/35 R19 front and 295/30 R20 rear tires.

As usual the excellent drivers at AutoBild put seven sets of UUHP / maximum performance tires to the test in the dry and wet, as well as testing the rolling resistance and noise levels of the tires.

It's a good bunch of tires, and includes the brand new Vredestein Ultrac Pro (which replaces the Ultrac Vorti) against the very best in the category.

2024 AutoBild Summer Tire Test

The 2024 AutoBild Summer Tire Test reviewed 20 premium touring summer tires in size 205/55 R16. The test focused on several key performance indicators including dry and wet braking, handling, noise, wear, value, and rolling resistance.

Michelin Primacy 4+ ranked first, demonstrating a balanced performance with short braking distances and high efficiency. Continental PremiumContact 7 and Bridgestone Turanza 6 followed, showing strong wet and dry road performance and low wear levels.

2024 ADAC Summer Tire Test

The 2024 ADAC summer tire test tested sixteen tires in the popular 215/55 R17 size.

2024 Summer Tire Market Overview

One again Auto Bild prove that they're one of the best in the game, this year testing 55 different summer tires in a wet and dry braking test to find the best twenty summer tires to take through to their full test!

This year they've tested the most popular size on the market, 205/55 R16 which comes fitted to a huge amount of vehicles, including the ever popular VW Golf.

Nokian Remedy WRG5 - Launched

Nokian Remedy WRG5As the popularity of all-weather tires rapidly grows in many areas of North America, Nokian has refreshed its offering to cater to this market. The new Nokian Remedy WRG5 replaces the much loved Nokian WRG4, and offers improved snow and ice traction, and higher levels of wet grip over the WRG4, without sacrificing rolling resistance or dry/wet handling.

Falken Wildpeak AT4W - Launched

One of the most popular all terrain tires on the market, the Falken Wildpeak A/T3W, has just been replaced by the Falken Wildpeak A/T4W, and it looks to be an exciting update!

With the A/T3W being such a popular tire, Falken have smartly decided to go with an evolution rather than revolution. This means Falken have kept what we love about the all terrain tire, such as the excellent wet grip, and the snow performance of the tire, and added where they believe customers will get the most benefit - even more off-road ability and another 15,000 miles on the tread life warranty, totalling 65,000 miles!

Goodyear Eagle F1 vs Falken Azenis FK460 vs Wildpeak AT Trail

In this test we find out how the new Falken Azenis FK460 AS and Falken WildPeak Trail compare to the Tesla Model Y OE fitment Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymmetric 5 M+S.

Why is this interesting? Firstly, it's always nice to test the newest tires on the market, but more importantly it should help answer the question as to whether moving away from the OE tire your vehicle came fitted with is always a good option.

The OE fitted Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymmetric 5 M+S has been developed with Tesla, and as such it is focused on low energy use, low noise levels and good comfort. This is pretty much now the standard set of rules car manufacturers want from an OE tire, whether they're developing an electric vehicle or regular internal combustion powered vehicle!

2023 Studless Friction Winter Tire Test

The extreme winter specialists at Vi Bilagare are back at it testing the latest and greatest studless friction winter tires. This year they not only tested seven of the most popular studless friction nordic compounds in the popular 225/45 R17 tire size, they also included an older tire to see the effects of aging. The older tire is am 8 year old, lightly used (6mm remaining) Nokian Hakkapeliitta R2, which has its work cut out as its "two-generation-newer" brother, the Hakkapeliitta R5 is also included in this test!

2023/24 Tire Reviews UHP Winter Tire Test

The 2023 Tire Reviews UHP winter tire test was an unusual test for Tire Reviews. Due to travel schedules I was unable to drive the snow part of the testing, and as these tires have been tested before this year I wouldn't have usually run such a similar test again, but this one had the possibility of a real world wear test which is hard to say no to.

The results, well they are very interesting and shine a new light on some of the products tested.

Nokian Outpost nAT vs Hakkapeliitta R5 vs WRG4 vs One

The new Nokian Outpost nAT claims to be an all terrain tire you can use in snow, but how good is it? Nokian invented winter tires, so they're pretty confident, so confident in fact they suggested we test it against the king of winter tires, the Nokian Hakkapeliitta R5, along with their much loved all weather tire, the Nokian WRG4 SUV, and their high mileage all season tire, the Nokian One SUV.

Before we start, it's worth noting that three of the tires are 3PMSF marked, which is the 3 peak mountain snowflake symbol, sometimes called "severe snow rating". The Winter, All Weather and All Terrain tires carry the 3PMSF marking, but the all season does not. The test size was 265/65 R17, and we used a Toyota Hilux for the test in RWD only mode.

2023 Auto Bild SUV Winter Tire Test

The 2023 AutoBild Allrad tire test, conducted using a BMW X3, displayed various tires' performance in numerous categories. Auto Bild tested the popular 225/60 R18 SUV / CUV crossover size and also included a summer tire as reference.

2023 Sport Auto Winter Tire Test

The 2023 Sport Auto winter tire test has tested ten uhp winter tires using and Audi S3.

Why do you only see nine in the results below? The Kumho WinterCraft WP 52 was part of the tire test but was eventually disqualified due to specific issues. While it showed moderate performance on snow and impressive braking capabilities on wet surfaces, it had a tendency to quickly lose grip in curves. The test tires provided by the manufacturer demonstrated strong grip and a neutral, active behavior in wet conditions, along with very short braking distances on dry surfaces.

2023 Studded Tire Test

Sadly Tire Reviews won't be conducting a studded tire test this year, but thankfully the excellent testers at the Swedish magazine Vi Bilagare have, and as they're some of the best Nordic drivers in the world, you can be assured this is the best studded tire test you'll see this year.

As always for a studded tire test, the tires were all tested in the dry, wet, snow and importantly ice, which is where studs really make a difference. To add another element to the testing this year Vi Bilagare bought a "joker" tire, a lightly used Nokian Hakkapeliitta 8 (the current version is the Hakkapeliitta 10) which was manufactured in 2015, making the tire both old technology AND 8 years old. The testers noted that the tire still had around 7mm of tread depth (compared to 9.1mm of the new Hakka 10) and that some studs had fallen out, and those which hadn't were somewhat blunted compared to new.

2023 Sports Cars Winter Tire Test

In the 2023 Sports Cars Winter Tire Test conducted by AutoBild Sportscars, several tires were evaluated on a Toyota GR Yaris, size 225/40 R18. The performance was evaluated across a range of parameters including dry braking, dry handling, wet braking, wet handling, straight aquaplaning, curved aquaplaning, snow braking, snow traction, snow handling, snow slalom, noise, and rolling resistance.

The Goodyear UltraGrip Performance 3 emerged as a strong performer, especially in wet conditions, securing the first position in both wet braking and wet handling. The tire also performed well in snow scenarios, ranking third in snow traction, snow handling, and snow slalom. The rolling resistance of this tire was found to be on the higher side, placing seventh, which might indicate a trade-off for its commendable grip in wet and snowy conditions. The tire's performance in dry conditions was satisfactory but not leading, with a fourth-place finish in both dry braking and dry handling. The noise level was relatively low, scoring the second position, which might contribute to a quieter and more comfortable ride.

2023/24 Best All Terrain Tires In Snow

Following on from last years on-road and off-road test of nine all terrain tires, we've taken seven of them through to a full snow test, and tested them against the one of the best rated US all season tires, the Michelin Defender LTX and our favourite winter tire, the Michelin X-Ice Snow (SUV variant).

As the group of all terrain tires is a mix of snow rated and non snow rated all terrain tires, it means we'll not only know what the best all terrain tire is on snow, but we can also answer whether a snow rating is worth purely basing your purchase decision on, AND we'll be able to find out if a very good snow rated all terrain tire is a safe replacement for a winter tire in the snow.

2023 Auto Bild Winter Tire Test

Following on from the massive 54 winter tire shootout in the popular 225/45 R18 size using a BMW 3 Series, Autobild have taken the top 20 tires through to their full testing program to to work out exactly what tire is best overall.

As always, the Autobild tests are amongst the best in the industry, so enjoy all the below data!

This is an impressive, and massive undertaking, and we applaud them for it. This test shows exactly which tires perform well in the key safety braking tests, and where the cheap winter tires can lose out.

2023 Auto Bild All Season Tire Test

Following on from the 35 all season shootout, Autobild have placed the top 15 through the usual array of tests, including dry, wet and snow testing, plus they've tested wear!

Unlike the Tire Reviews test this year, they also managed to test the new Bridgestone Turanza All Season 6 and Continental AllSeasonContact 2! Can either of these new tires displace the Michelin CrossClimate 2 at the top of the results? Read on to find out!

2023 ADAC 17 inch Winter Tire Test

2023 AMS SUV Winter Tire Test

The 2023 AMS SUV winter tire test not only aims to answer what the best winter tire in 255/45 R20 is, but also to find out if swapping from a regular diesel Kia Sorento to a fully electric Kia EV6 will make a difference to the results.

Bridgestone Potenza Sport AS - Launch Report

Bridgestone Potenza Sport ASBridgestone, the world's largest tire and rubber company, has rolled out a new addition to their Potenza series: the Potenza Sport AS. Developed by a 400-member team in Akron, Ohio, the tire aims to set a new standard in the ultra-high performance all-season segment. The Potenza Sport AS is initially available in 48 sizes, targeted at sports sedans and sports cars, with an expansion to 76 sizes planned for 2024.

2023 Tire Reviews UHP All Season Tire Test

In this test I'll be comparing 7 of the most popular ultra high performance all season tires to find out which tire is best for you.

If you've read any of my previous all season tests, you'll be happy to know that six of the tires in this test I've never tested before, and they include the brand new Pirelli P Zero AS 3 Plus and the brand new Falken Azenis FK460AS. The tire I have tested before is one of the benchmarks of the segment, the Continental ExtremeContact DWS06+, so if you want to, you'll have a cross reference points to compare the tires in this test to the tires in the previous tests.

As always I'll be digging into the dry, wet, comfort and noise performance of the tires, then in a later test I'll be looking at the snow performance, to give you a really complete overview of the tires performances.

2023 TUV Report All Season Test

For the launch of the new Bridgestone Turanza AllSeason 6, Bridgestone had the independent test body TÜV SÜD Automotive GmbH conduct a comprehensive test of the new all season tire, and compare it to the leaders in the all season category, the Continental AllSeasonContact, Goodyear Vector 4Seasons Gen-3, and Michelin CrossClimate 2.

While this isn't a traditional magazine test, it is interesting data, and as many of you have questions about the performance of the new Turanza AllSeason 6, we believe it's worth including on the site.

Continental AllSeasonContact 2 - Launched

Continental has unveiled its latest all season product, the Continental AllSeasonContact 2. This new all-season tire is a significant upgrade from its predecessor, offering enhanced safety, balance, and efficiency, making it Continental's best all-season tire to date.

Bridgestone Turanza All Season 6 - Launched

Bridgestone has just unveiled its latest premium product: the Turanza All Season 6. This all-season tire is designed to redefine year-round performance and safety for both electric and gas-powered vehicles for the Bridgestone brand.

One of the key improvements Bridgestone have made with the replacement to the Bridgestone WeatherControl A005 EVO is the braking performance across all weather conditions. The independent automotive testing institute, TÜV SÜD, confirmed its best-in-class wet braking ability and impressive dry and snowy condition performance. When tested against other leading brands like Michelin, Continental, and Goodyear, the Turanza All Season 6 consistently demonstrated great results.

Everything You NEED To Know About Your Tires Sidewall

When shopping for new tires, you've probably noticed a series of numbers and letters printed on the sidewall of each tire.

These alphanumeric codes provide important information about the tire's specifications, such as size, load-carrying capacity, and maximum speed capability. Decoding these numbers and letters can help you choose the right tires for your vehicle and ensure a safe, comfortable, and efficient driving experience. In this article, we will explain how to interpret tire size, load index, and speed rating using the example size 225/40 R18 92Y.

Michelin Pilot Sport VS EV Specific Performance Tires

At Tire Reviews, we frequently receive inquiries from electric vehicle (EV) owners about whether they should continue using the original equipment (OE) tires designed for their EVs, switch to a newer specific EV tire, or opt for a standard aftermarket tire. It seems that German publication AutoBild has encountered similar questions, as they recently conducted a test comparing three tire types on a Tesla Model S.

In this test, AutoBild compared the OE Michelin Pilot Sport 3, the latest aftermarket version (Michelin Pilot Sport 5), and the new EV-specific aftermarket tire, the Hankook iON Evo. This examination addresses numerous concerns and provides valuable insights for EV owners.

Exclusive: The Michelin Pilot Sport S 5 is here!

In this article I'll be sharing exclusive information about the brand new Michelin Pilot Sport S 5!

If you're reading this article I'm 100% sure you will already know all about the Michelin Pilot Sport 4 S, which is still, after 6 years, one of the best ultra high performance tires you can buy today.

The PS4S has such a HUGE amount of popularity online, I get asked almost daily when the replacement for this tire will be launched, and I'm really happy to stay, NOW is that TIME! Well, sort of… The new tire we're talking about today is the Michelin Pilot Sport S 5, and yes there's subtle change in the naming scheme, more on that in a bit.

Michelin Pilot Sport S 5 (PSS5)

2023 The Best Electric Vehicle Tires VS UHP Tires

It's not often I'm completely shocked by a tire test, but this years AMS EV tire vs normal tire test has me stumped.

Why? Let me run a few things past you. The Michelin e.Primacy was best in wet braking, beating both the Continental SportContact 7 and Bridgestone Potenza Sport, which usually ace that test. The Michelin e.Primacy also beat the Michelin Pilot Sport 4 SUV overall, which has won every other test it's featured in, and Continental won the test twice!

The concept for the test seems relatively straightforward - get a bunch of the best performance tires on the market and test them against the newest ultra low rolling resistance / EV tires, the Michelin e.Primacy, the Falken eZiex and the Pirelli Scorpion Elect.

2023 AutoBild Sports Car Summer Tire Test

If you've ever dreamed of seeing the Michelin Pilot Sport 5, Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymmetric 6, Continental SportContact 7 and Bridgestone Potenza Sport in the same test, your dreams have just been answered with the 2023 Auto Bild Sportscars Summer Tire Test! They even included the new Falken FK520!

The German publication tested thirteen of the most popular UHP tires in 225/40 R18 using a Toyota GR Yaris, and yes you read that right, the SportContact 7 is now available in some 18" wheel sizes!

Want to know which of the UHP titans is best overall? Read on!

2023 ADAC Summer Tire Test

It's the 50th anniversary of the ADAC tire test, and to celebrate the German automotive body have tested fifty summer tires in the popular 205/55 R16 tire size, and have included wear testing for every tire!

There's a lot to unpack in this test, so we'll dive straight in! Headline notes, there are two Michelin tires in this test, the Michelin Primacy 4+ and the energy saving Michelin e.Primacy, the Continental on test is not the new PremiumContact 7, it's the previous model, the Continental PremiumContact 6, and Continental also have the new Continental UltraContact in the test, which is meant to be a lower rolling resistance and higher mileage tire for those who drive a lot of distance!
