Nokian Seasonproof 2

The Nokian Seasonproof 2 is a premium-touring all-season tire that stands out as a wet-weather benchmark, blending very high grip with exceptional aquaplaning resistance. Real-world drivers consistently describe it as confidence-inspiring in heavy rain and impressively capable on snow and even occasional ice, while remaining quiet and comfortable. Independent testing echoes this, with multiple 2025 group-test wins driven by its wet and winter safety margins and strong overall consistency. Its main compromise is a less sporty, less precise feel and only mid-pack dry performance compared with the very best rivals.

Best in wet overall, near best in snow overall, good noise and comfort levels, low rolling resistance.
Slightly firmer over big impacts, not the best in dry braking.
The Nokian Seasonproof 2 is finally a Nokian all season tire with excellent wet grip! Sure, it wasn't the best in the dry but it wasn't super far off, it WAS however the best in the wet overall, which is key for this category, it was excellent in the snow, it had the lowest noise, and a pretty good rolling resistance. I marked it a little down for subjective comfort, but it was a close group, and that's about the only negative of this new tire.
1st/6
The Nokian Tires Seasonproof 2 takes first place in this test with the highest point score, demonstrating that mid-segment producers can now compete with premium brands. This Finnish tire proves particularly impressive on wet surfaces, offering the highest level of safety in wet conditions with excellent handling characteristics. The tire also excels in snowy conditions, winning the handling competition on snow and delivering very good braking performance. On dry asphalt, it performs very well, though it doesn't quite match the Michelin in outright dry grip. The main weakness is its high rolling resistance, which impacts fuel efficiency. Overall, the Seasonproof 2 provides consistently strong performance across all conditions without surprising the driver in any situation.
Dominant in Snow Braking and Snow Traction (1st, 100%) Consistently competitive across wet metrics (3rd–4th, 96.5–100%) Solid Rolling Resistance (3rd, 90%).
Dry Braking only mid-pack (4th, 96%) Wet Handling behind leaders (4th, 96.5%) Not class-leading in aquaplaning (3rd, 99.6%).
Nokian Seasonproof 2 wins on winter performance with best-in-test Snow Braking and Snow Traction, plus strong Snow Handling (2nd, 99.6%). It remains competitive in wet disciplines, landing 2nd–4th with percent_of_best between 96.5% and 100%, and offers respectable Rolling Resistance (3rd, 90%). Its main compromises are Dry Braking (4th, 96%) and Wet Handling (4th, 96.5%), but its balanced showing and standout snow capability secure a top overall result.

Given 88% while driving a Citroën c3 Picasso 1.6 diesel (195/55 R16) on mostly country roads for 100 easy going miles
As the tires on my mothers C3 Picasso MPV needed to be replaced (Michelin eco at the back and Goodyear summers at the front, Goodyears were far from bald but cracked), I went for 4 seasons tires to save myself the bother of changing them for winter.

This is only an initial review, as the car hasn't been driven so far yet, but the difference with the old summer tires is obvious. The grip is there, especially when braking (brake fluid was replaced a week before the change of tires). changes of direction are pretty progressive and comfy, while feeling much more safe that on the old Goodyears.

Price was also decent at about 100€/tire (20€ less than the Michelins from all sellers).

Given 63% while driving a Renault Clio IV TCe 90 (195/55 R16) on a combination of roads for 350 average miles
Renault Clio IV Estate 900cc turbo 90pk : I have got these tires not very long yet, so I may add another updated review later on. But the reason why I wanted to write a review is because of an experience I have with these tires from day 1. So we bought our car some months ago and it came with a pair of Typhoon all season 6 on the front, and Goodyear eco summers on the rear. No problems whatsoever with handling. The Goodyears however were 7 years old and started to show missing rubber parts and cracks. And thus we replaced with Nokian Seasonproof 2 after seeing this video. The Typhoons remained at the front. The first experience when I drove off from the tire central was ok. All very silent in the car. So I started moving my steer a little from left to right, and immediately I had the impression as if there was soap on the tires. It swayed like a boat on water. There was no "resistance" or "firm putting back the tires in its place". I didn know what to call it at the time. When I drove up the highway home, I never been so scared. The moment I hit 110km/u or over, the car acted VERY nervous. Like as if the rear was going to flip over, or like it wanted to catch up with the front. 1mm of steering left to right resulted in a huge swaying that made me sweat. The rear showed again no "firmness". Long story short. The nervosity while not touching the wheel is after 10 days slightly less, a sidewind is slightly digested better, BUT the car is still very sensitive to steering, and it still doesn't want to settle firmly after a left/right motion or sidewind. Driving with one hand only is out of the question. I read it's called squirming, something to do with what the tires are made of, the pattern, new rubber, etc. I don't know. Two other tire shops where I asked second opinions looked odd at me when I asked them about it. Like they never heard of such thing as a break-in time. Literally even mentioned on Nokian and other manufacturers websites. The thing is, I dont know how long this is going to last. I dont know if it's maybe also the combination of tires; though the combination before seemed more odd to me than this combo, since it's now all wheels four season tires. Driven now 500km and 10 days with these tires. Changed the pressure a little down and up, currently at 2,3 bar on all wheels (normal is F 2.3 & R 2.1 bar). I might experiment a little with that, or switch Nokians from rear to front. However, I have no idea if it's a good idea to have squirmy tires on the front, and a more stiff tire (assuming it is) to the rear. The car has been aligned meanwhile, error free. Shock absorbers still to be checked though the car is fairly new for such (70.000 km), and it only changed right after the tire swap. I have to admit, taking long corners feels very comfortable and experiencing strong grip. So the rubber actually "grabs" the road when turning, cornering. It's just at higher speeds, as from 90km/u the rear starts to feel like it doesn't have to wheels, but 2 balls.

Excellent feel on wet and snowy roads.
Good feeling on dry roads.
Quiet tire (audible only around 50 mph) and quite comfortable.
Better than the Vredestein Quatrac tire on snow.
Better than the Nokian Weatherproof tire in the rain or dry.

Given 92% while driving a Mazda 2 1.5 sport (195/55 R16) on for 1,000 miles
Updating the review... Tested both on wet highways at temperatures of 7-8°C, everything was fine, good grip and good braking... But the best part is here, because I reached the mountains where the temperatures were 2-3°C and it was raining... Tight curves, hairpin bends, uphill and downhill, violent braking and the tires were simply fantastic, deliberately forcing the maneuvers, the tires simply held. Without even the slightest hint of loss of grip, I was afraid to push the car further on those roads and those conditions!! The lateral grip and aquaplaning management are even better than the winter Continentals I had before. Tested on snow and ice, the same roads, even frozen slush areas, never a single hint of uncertainty, you accelerated and steered and the tire was simply excellent, as if I were driving on dry surfaces. Nokian has truly created an excellent product, in the face of those who criticize all-season tires for not being good in winter... I recommend them wholeheartedly!! Phenomenal tire!! To recap: on dry surfaces, excellent stability at high speeds, safe and relaxed steering, on wet surfaces, plenty of stability and grip, decisive and very powerful braking, on snow and ice even better than the winter tire I had before, the car handles excellently.

Just had them fitted. I previously used Toyo R55a summer tires and Continental WC TS 870 winter tires. Obviously, it's too early to talk about performance, but the car feels more stable and the steering is more responsive, which I prefer to light and twitchy steering. The car is slightly noisier, but that's normal. The initial tread depth is 8.3mm and the rubber is very soft! I can't wait to test them in wet or snowy conditions.

Given 93% while driving a BMW 330xi (225/45 R17) on for 4,500 miles
I am updating my review of this four-season tire after a few more kilometers with them and using them in different weather conditions and on different roads.
As I wrote in the previous review, I still find them excellent in the wet, due to their great feeling of security, great riding comfort and low road noise.
I recently had the opportunity to test them on snow and some ice, and I was very surprised by the grip on the snow, very similar to that of a winter tire, with great response when accelerating, braking, and turning. There's a 12% incline to my house, and they didn't lose traction at any point.
I like these tires more and more each time, and they surprise me more and more. I didn't expect the performance these all-season tires are giving at all.
I still highly recommend them.

Initial Impressions Review
Given 76% while driving a Volkswagen Polo GTI (215/45 R17) on a combination of roads for 1,500 spirited miles
I bought the tires to use them as winter tires, alternating with summer ones. At the beginning, in low temperatures, they seemed to brake and maintain traction worse than the Pilot Sport 5. After running them in, these parameters improved. On snow, they are very good—almost like top-tier winter tires. On wet and dry roads in corners, they perform very well. They are quite quiet. They could brake a bit better on wet surfaces, but overall they are really very good—I would compare them to top-class summer tires.

Given 91% while driving a Tesla 2024 Model 3 RWD (235/45 R18) on mostly town for 2,000 average miles
I have replaced original summer tires (Michelin ePrimacy) with Nokian tires.
Noise: I don't know why but Nokians are much noisy between 30 and 70 km/h. Above 70 - very quiet.
Energy consumption: I drive mostly in the city. I had average consumption on summer Michelins around 130 w/km with outside temp 15 degrees C. On Nokians - 145 w/km.
Dry grip: I can't complain. I do not drive in extreme way.
Snow grip: It is ok. Driving carefully feels comfortable. I guess premium winter tires would feel better. But I live in Poland - our winters are mostly wet, not snowy.
Wet grip: OMG. Michelin ePrimacy is a complete rubbish in comparison to Nokians. I drove 140 km/h in a very heavy rain in cold (4 degrees C outside) - extremely good grip - not even a slight feeling of lack of traction.

Overall: In a few weeks I got used to the noise. Energy consumption could be better, but I think it is a good price for the level of grip (safety) Nokians have.
I was waiting for Michelin Cross Climate 3, but they do not produce this size (which is default wheel size on Tesla Model 3 - very weird decision from Michelin). But I am happy with Nokians overall.
PS: I have SilentDrive version.

Given 95% while driving a Toyota Corolla (205/55 R16) on mostly motorways for 1,000 easy going miles
Extremely quiet tires - they transformed my not very well sound insulated Corolla hybrid TS!!! Done only 1000 motorway miles with the Nokians so far in the currently wet UK weather, with anything between 0 to 10ish degrees C and the tires feel very safe. They do well in corners too - complaints there. Haven't tried braking hard with them yet, and hope I won't ever need to do so. I am not a racer boy anymore and always keep plenty of distance from the vehicle in front. Haven't tried them on snow yet, and I really hope to see some snow this year, I am ready!!! Wear still to be seen, and I hope they will last as long as my previous Good Year EGP2 - did almost 50k miles with them and the rears(which I kept) still have 4.7mm (good enough for another summer). Only one draw back on the Seasonproof 2(so far) - lost approximately 3 MPG compared to the EGP2s. If you are looking for a very quiet and comfortable all season tire, which is one of the best in wet, and should do well on snow(warm dry to be seen)....I do recommend the Nokian Seasonproof 2

Given 90% while driving a BMW 330xi (225/45 R17) on a combination of roads for 3,000 average miles
This is the second time I've fitted 4-season tires and this one is definitely much better in every way compared to my previous CrossClimate 2.
The wet performance is very good, with excellent handling and a great sense of security. It's very safe on frosty mornings.
What I noticed most about this tire is the comfort; the casing is very comfortable and the ride is very quiet.
Really satisfied with this tire, I will definitely use it again.
The quality-price ratio is excellent.
I'll keep an eye on the tire life and update the review once I've driven more kilometers.

Given 81% while driving a Ford Focus (205/55 R16) on a combination of roads for 30,000 easy going miles
This is a good tire. One might even say it is a very good tire. In the past I have had Kleber Quadraxer 3, CrossClimate+, Goodyear Vector Gen‑3, and on another car I had Continental AllSeasonContact 2. The Nokian performs very well in both wet and dry conditions. In the dry, however, the car feels like it is floating (swimming) in the corners due to the tread sipes on the outer shoulder. The tire is stable, but steering is not as direct as with other all‑season tires or summer tires. I live in Warsaw, Poland, and grip in the snow is satisfactory, although there are some problems on icy roads. Wet grip is good. Overall, I would say that Nokians are good tires, with better driving results than Kleber, Michelin and Continental, but subjectively the best tire for me was the Goodyear Vector Gen‑3.

Given 81% while driving a Skoda Kamiq (205/55 R17) on a combination of roads for 0 easy going miles
I use these all-season tires just like I used to with my winter tires: during the cold season, because I live in the mountains. All-season tires work perfectly in temperatures ranging from -10°C to +20°C. Mine are mounted on four wheels that I put on my car from mid-October to the end of April, and I've been doing so for the past 10 years.
The Nokian Seasonproof 2 tires are descended from the Weatherproof, with significantly improved handling and braking in wet and dry conditions, aquaplaning resistance and rolling noise.

Recent days with pouring rain... and they behaved marvelously. Compared to previous tires (Vredstein Quatrac Pro), it's noticeable an improvement on rolling resistance, wet braking grip, dry grip, and again: confort. They can deal quite well with the wet tarmac or even considerable amount of water on the surface. First impressions are super positive and the Seasonproof 2 inspire confidence in wet or dry roads. Waiting for some snow and lower temperatures to test them in those conditions.
