GT Radial FE2

Aimed primarily at compact and family passenger cars and small and crossover SUVs, the GT Radial FE2 is initially available in 17 sizes from 15-18", with speed indices T, H, V, W and Y, section widths from 185-235 and series sizes from 50-65. The tire has ultimately registered a 15% improvement in wet braking, 12% upgrade in wet handling and a 7% increase in aquaplaning resistance against the original GT Radial Champiro FE1 pattern. It will also deliver around 5% more mileage.

Methodology & Configuration
Scoring Process
  1. Collect Test Data: Gather results from professional tire tests across multiple publications. Minimum 1 test(s) required.
  2. Normalize Positions: Convert test positions to percentile scores using exponential weighting (factor: 1.2).
  3. Apply Recency Weighting: More recent tests are weighted higher with a decay rate of 0.95.
  4. Incorporate User Reviews: Factor in user review data (minimum 5 reviews). Weight: 15%.
  5. Bayesian Smoothing: Apply Bayesian prior (score: 7, weight: 1.5) to prevent extreme scores with limited data.
  6. Calculate Final Score: Combine all components using normalization factor of 1.1. Max score with limited data: 9.5.

Safe aquaplaning qualities, short dry braking distances, very affordable price.
Average grip on wet and dry roads.
Good.
11th/13
Good wet and dry handling with nice subjective balance, low rolling resistance.
Extended wet braking distance, average aquaplaning resistance.
The Gt Radial FE2 in eleventh was another step on from the Nankang. Once again GT have made a tire that's enjoyable to drive, has good rolling resistance and good levels of comfort, and while it was only a few percent off in dry and wet handling, it did lose out a little in wet braking. But it was still 8 meters better than the budget.

Top 3 GT Radial FE2 Reviews

Given 90% while driving a Toyota Avensis (195/60 R15) on a combination of roads for 1,000 average miles
A good tire that rolls comfortably. It handles really well in the dry. It offers average performance in the wet, as I ride accordingly anyway. Given the value for money, I highly recommend this tire!

Given 83% while driving a MG Morris 1000 (165/70 R14) on mostly country roads for 5 average miles
Just had a new set of these fitted, to replace 10 year old mixed make tires that were getting dangerously slippery on wet roads. I immediately noticed they seem to give a softer and quieter ride over the local rough surfaced country roads. They were very good value, at £260 for a set of four, including valves and balancing.

Given 80% while driving a Skoda (185/60 R14) on mostly town for 500 average miles
I've just mounted them on the car. These are my first thoughts. I find this tires interesting. I drive mostly in town but I often get the impression that they are not as grippy as the winter Debicas I've had before. They are way better than an 6 year old summer tire that I had last summer. So dry grip it is average for town driving. In the wet I think they excel, they give you great confidence, for example when going through puddles or sharp corners. Comfort is good. It was a noticeable difference from the winter tires going over bumps. They are quiet, I mean in the first miles I noticed how less I hear the tires. All in all I think I made a good choice, now I want to see their fuel mileage and wear. Cheers!
