Fitment comes from each tire's manufactured size list, and the sizes are the ones drivers reported when they reviewed. Check the size, load index and speed rating on your own doorplate before buying - a size a previous owner ran is not always the size your car left the factory on.

How long do tires last on the BMW 120d?

Across 13 end of life reviews from BMW 120d drivers, a typical set of tires was worn out after 25,000 miles. Half of all worn-out sets lasted between 15,000 miles and 35,000 miles.

Distances are self-reported by drivers whose review marked the set as worn out; figures are medians, so a single unusual report cannot move them.

(i am a 21y/o man so i don't have a lot of experience)when i started to really push the tires on my backroad in both dry and wet i was astonished by how grippy they were regardless of the conditions , you can feel the tire deforming and gripping more and more, since my car is nose heavy the front tires are subject to a lot of load but they still held up beautifully

Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymmetric 6 225-45-17 BMW 120d 25,000 miles October 5, 2025
I’ve been running the Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymmetric tires for about ~15,500 mi (~25,000 km), mostly on highways. Overall, they still perform very well — grip is strong, and they remain predictable in most conditions. Only recently have I started noticing some limits: in sharp, high-speed cornering and during hard acceleration, the car tends to lose traction a bit more than before.

Noise and comfort are phenomenal, easily among the best I’ve experienced. As for wet performance, I haven’t had the chance to properly test them this year due to the lack of rain, but last year they were also outstanding in wet conditions.

The tread depth is currently around 2.5 mm, so I'm expecting them to last another ~6000 mi (~10,000 km) or so. For the mileage covered, I’m impressed with how well they’ve held up. Solid performance, great durability, and still plenty of confidence in everyday driving.

Dry and cold grip on these was great, and there is plenty of feedback, though that results in a drop in comfort. Grip in the wet is generally ok, and the resistance to aquaplaning is good, but on wet leaves at junctions, expect to get a bit sideways. In past years I've had Vredstein Quatrac, Michelin Cross Climate and Nokian Weatherproof. For comparison, the Vredsteins were the best for grip all-round, but were too soft and so wore down fastest. The Michelins were fine, but not brilliant in any regard, and highest cost. The Nokians were the best in my experience - great all rounders at a good price. The big downside with the Continental AllSeason Contact2 tires is how easily they get sidewall damage. I've not had one last to the point it's worn down below 3mm yet (my preferred wear limit), as they keep getting bubbles in the sidewalls. We have a lot of potholes around here, but I've not hit any that worried me - I just don't think they're very robust. I'll be trying Toyo Celsius next.

A brand new seat of the Potenza 001 were on my 1 series when I left the forecourt. All I can say is they've been great and the wear has been amazing considering its a rear wheel drive. The front have still got 4mm left so I expect a few more thousand miles before I will need to replace.
A bit noisier than others on the market but these have been run flats so to be expected.

205/50-17and 225/45-17, made approx 86000km in 10 summer season, till the wires became visible. ok road feeling, grip and comfort in the dry, quite bad grip in the wet but very predictable, so not problematic, just need to drive normally and not be crazy.

Useless tire if you ask me. Brand new set on a year ago, all of them are almost at the tread limit. When brand new they gripped reasonably well but after maybe a month or two that went out the window. Horrendous in the wet, 30-40mph understeer on bends in a four wheel drive 1 series. Not very comfortable. One thing I will give them though is they can take a hit, I’ve hit some serious potholes in these and heard some brutal sounds when doing so yet the tires have been fine, also never had a puncture, could be luck but I’m notorious for bad luck with nails in tires. Overall though they’ve worn out very fast, don’t grip so well after a thousand or two miles, useless in the wet, not very comfortable and don’t give great road feedback. Disappointed at the lifespan on them if I’m honest.

Accelera PHI R 230-35-19- BMW 120d e82 8,000 miles July 22, 2023
Fitted to BMW 120d e82. Car is 230bhp remapped and rwd.

Use to drive ventus primes tires and the difference is very noticeable. The accelera has no grip, the car spins its wheels in 3rd when before, the car did not spin at all. Wet weather is very unstable. The car use to glide in the rain and feel in control at 160km/h easy, now it feels dangerous at 100km/hr.

Driving on country roads is also hairy. Any bump in the road will throw the balance out and the tires are unpredictable. Sometimes it understeers, other times it oversteer. You cannot feel the car like with the higher tier tire. Would be fine on a city car not doing long motorway mikes or fast country roads and on a small city car with no power, however in the BMW it’s a definite no go. Will be switching back to a premium tires asap

The tires have less tread on them than most competitors from new. They felt quite good from new, need some heat into them to perform, and they did perform quite well on track. However, after the first Nurburgring laps the tires looked in terrible shape, especially the fronts (F20 could use more neg. camber on the front). Friends with different but similar class FWD cars, but with Michelin PS4(S) looked much better after the same number of laps.

DOT code 06 22, just over a year later the rear tires are already worn. The fronts look in terrible shape and are close to end of life as well. May 2022, 3 Nurburgring laps, one of which in the wet and the tread looked terrible after 2 laps. Parts of it were melted and chunks had fallen off. Oktober 2022 2 wet Nurburgring laps, April 2023 2 more (wet then dry) Nurburgring laps and 2* 15 minute sessions on Zandvoort in May 2023. Around 32.000km driven in total. The Nurburgring laps were never consequent laps and the tire pressure was lowered to around 2 bar prior to the lap.

Fuel consumption is not great either. I went from 225 -> 235 on the front and 245 -> 255 on the rear. On a 90km run to uni I used to easily get 4-4.5L/100km with Goodyear Eagle F1 asymmetric 2 (runflat), with the Bridgestone it was difficult to get 5L/100km.

Car: 2017 BMW 120D M-sport (lowered)
Front: 235/40R18
Rear: 255/35R18
Use: Economical highway driving. Occasional spirited driving. Total 6 Nordschleife laps and 30 minutes Zandvoort sessions

In the begining, whille they were brand new, they seemed nice, comfy and durable. After 4 years and 55000km, all of a sudden, they started to sound just like i was in an aircraft. I had a better look, and although they don't look bad, they are old between the canals
